Hey Heir, just so you know, the Light Horse and the Parthian Horse Archers are the same speed. In fact, I believe their mounts are the same in all stats except mass, health, and walk speed. Mounts are weird in Rome 2 as they are tied to a display key (in game appearance) an entity key (speed mass health etc.) and an animation set (the melee animations while mounted). Because of that quirk there are 3 types of horse entities in the files, melee shock and missile. The missile horse entities all have speed stats similar to 1 weight class above what they are listed at. Basically, very light missile is the same as light melee and light missile is the same as medium melee. The only reason I can think for CA doing this is to make horse archers easier to catch. Though remember this is for horse archers, javelin cavalry uses the melee horse entities, so they are faster than horse archers of the same weight class.
The Pergamon player did very well with the tools at their disposal. Having the Agema Spears take out the Parthian skirmishers instead of using the Pergamene skirmishers to do so was a good choice. The Agema Spears have better armor and shields than the Pergamene slingers, so they can withstand the missile fire from the Parthian skirmishers much better. Also, Pergamon did a great job of limiting the effectiveness of the Parthian horse archers. Fun battle. Thanks to Heir for sharing it and thanks to both players for playing it.
I won my campaign as Pergamon just by by making friends with and bribing every Greek/Roman faction on the map and turning them into allies. World peace was achieved.
The picked peltasts are not to be underestimated they can go against many low and mid tear infatry and especially with those upgrades they can be very dangerous
Ahh Pergamon! Believe it or not, my favorite campaign faction. I always went west and took out the Greeks and Romans first, as well as picking up two iron resources and three mega food resources, before turning back east and steamrolling the map. One of the most underrated units in the game in my opinion. Just hard to use perfectly.
