  • This was just my experience with a dealer tune. Like I say in the video, no hate just a bad experience and I am sure if you take your stage 1-99 standard Harley there, they can tune it for you.

Scott at Fitzgerald Motorsports is a vrod god he does complete engine builds as well as tuning just on vrods and he deals with many boosted applications absolutely fantastic customer service

Couple of things come to mind watching yoy talk about this. First off, i really think that taking this on without akl the fancy equipment will be a big plus to you once you figure it out. You have to dive into the how's and why's of everything vs trusting a piece of equipment thats just gonna give you a final result( hope that makes some kind of sense). I think too many guys rely in the latest and most advanced diagnostic equipment instead of using their senses. My other thought was a person getting into building/ repair etc of motorcycles should really look into tuning, especially with aftermarket parts. Sounds like someone like that would be in big demand, and most likly have ro turn work away

Thanks for the comment Rick. I completely agree...now. At the time I just wanted to have the bike perfect and be able to ride around without taking this on. But now that I took the time to do exactly what you said (learning the how's and why's) I have a way better understanding and connection with the bike! Don't get me wrong, I am no professional tuner but I have made great strides and the bike is 100% rideable. I will continue to learn about this going forward as I have enjoyed it and it has made me a better " mechanic". I need to make an update video. I will try to put one out sometime soon. Thanks again for commenting Rick. Have a great one!

Taylor, how are you doing with the tuning? I have a suggestion. There is a tuner in Killeen, TX, his name is Finley Gambrel, the owner of All Makes Cycle Repair. He specializes in boosted applications and knows Richard (TTS) extremely well. He does a lot of the R&D for Richard and a lot of the revisions made from TTS has been made from Fin’s research. I know it’s far from Virginia, but it’ll be worth your time and money spent. Come on down to Texas to get this tuning done right.

Thank you for the information I will definitely look into this. The tuning has been going well though. My biggest issue right now is not having a Dyno to adjust my timing. I think I will run what I have for a little while and then buy a nicer tuner to really dial it in. Like the Dayton twin tech. The pc5 is definitely limited in what I can do

I'm in ohio and have gone through pretty much the exact same thing you have.
I built a turbo vtx1800 that I also learned to tune myself.
The tape on the throttle is an awesome idea.
I then built a turbo triumph rocket 2.3L.
My buddy has a freddy supercharged vrod I need to tune this year.
We just got a dyno to play with.

That sounds awesome! Good on you taking that on, I know it made me a bit nervous but it's been fun learning. The tape was definitely a big help. Best of luck to you on the tunning adventures!

Does your buddy every go to the big vrod rally in Greenville Ohio? It's called Midwest thunder

It's a great event all vrods. And with that Freddy kit he will definitely have a great time on the drag strip day. You can come along too! The more the merrier. There is a Facebook page. It's under "Midwest Thunder MWT"

Have you considered the thundermax tuner? I have a turbo nightrod and the thundermax takes all the guess work out of it. It will auto tune starting off a base map.. better than any dyno.

Thank you for the suggestion. Yeah I definitely have that in mind for the next large upgrade but I want to see what I can do with my little power commander first. I know it's not ideal but once I hit the road block I will probably go that route. So you like that setup on yours?

    • @jamesesquibel2279
      @jamesesquibel2279 6 месяцев назад +1

yes it seems to be working well. I upgradede the injectors and fuel pump like you. Just make sure your fuel pressure is rising with your boost and you should be ok. good luck.

The Tmax is definitely a second best alternative. If coming to Texas is too far out of reach, give the Tmax a try, there is an option for boosted application for 2.5 bar intake sensor.
