    My Bud put a set of these on his 427- 55 Ford. He picked up over a half second on his first run. Went from 10.50 to 9.90. Since he still was running drum brakes in the rear. He needed to upgrade to continue the learning curve. Since he has been building FE engines for decades, his recommendation means tons to any knowledgeable racer. These are good heads.

Ed could do a TF or BBM chamber and the FE, Pontiac, Olds, Buick Mopar and AMC can still be built all motor with good heads, 461-468 cubes where all the muscle cars live with 4.25 strokes and weigh the same as a 351W and be genuine, no need for an LS or any of the new stuff. Tom Lucas is still running a dump truck FT block at 4.185x 4.25 and making 750 hp. From a 1974 391 block and CNCd Edelbrock. He was doing it before the same displacement with iron C4AE-G heads he ported himself, 764hp. The Pontiacs with the same kind of stroker kit with the same H beam forged 4340 6.8 rods with 2.2 rod journal’s just like thexFE runs for a sweet 1.6 rod ratio. @@davidkeeton6716 Ford had an amazing idea in the very beginning. The cast the heads with the bias of favoring the intake side and the 13 degree angle that can allow an iron head from any FE cast to fit 2.2 intake valves with a small clearance of the block done by the builder, and a 1.6 exhaust valve that flows as much as a 396/427, because exhaust just wants out. I have made 60O hp with the 61 small chamber head on a.060 over 390. Stock rods and crank rod a flat tappet solid. 2.185/1.65 valves no clearance cut on the block. It ran on pump premium 94octane. This was 69 390 block and crank at .060 over the early hi-po head that had the Yates chambers they had back then and we are now putting on the best FE heads. That engine made so much torque with the hp, amazing how smart those guys were in 1956 when were designing this to replace the 317-368. These heads are the same casting intended for the 352 Police engine. It was on the 352 a 4 inch bore with 2.02/ 1.55 valves. And it would walk over the 348 MK1. Ford stepped on their dick with the Dshape chamber, but they were afraid of these on the street because they know what they could do. It is coming back as the Felony heads the Trick Flow, BBM but they owe those guys from the 50s. I want to do a boosted mild 461 with a 4.155 bore and 4.25 stroke. The 429 is the competitor for the BBC, but the FE can do it. The Safety and Bean Counters at Ford messed it up .

      @davidkeeton6716 2 года назад

      If you want bigger valves like in a big block Chevy, you will probably have to order some from ProMaxx or Survival Motorsports. Anything bigger than 2.06 and you have to bore it pretty big, like 428 size, 4.13" and hope you don't hit water and have to put a sleeve in the holes that do hit water. Don't be scared of sleeves. I've run them on street and race cars and had no trouble. Think about it, 18 wheeler diesel engines all have sleeves and go a million or more miles between overhauls. And some of those motors make so much torque they have to put a 1" thick plate, the length of the oil pan to keep the block from twisting (Cat) most don't have or need it.
