The entire mental health system is a disaster, Many illnesses are being reclassified, many new discoveries are being made in the recognition of symptoms and the faulty brain chemistry, and sometmes body chemistry that cause these illnesses. The enormous majority of seriously mentally ill people are non-compliant when it comes to medication and behavioral therapies. The side effects of medication are often so miserable that patients refuse them. If the accept them, they expensive. Mental health facilities are few and far between. My friend's son, who had Borderline Personality Disorder, was on a waiting list for a bed for 6 months. He killed himself just over a year ago. There wasn't even a place on a temporary 3 day hold. Nothing. Working in such facilities is dangerous, staff turnover is high, pay sucks, training is minimal. You can't cure this with legislation alone, it needs to be from the ground up. The law is a good first step, but implementing it is just not likely to work right now, the infrastructure is simply not there.

I love the perspective that Criminal Impact shows. Andrew seemed like he really wanted help and didn't get it and it cost Kendra her life. I think that I'd rather restrict a severely mentally ill person's rights rather than endanger someone else. I hope that the law gets strengthened.

Keep up the great work john! Mary Jane VanGilder was identified recently, and they mentioned lordanarts in the press conference, as well as another small channel. In that case dedicated viewers saw a clue and found an answer. These channels truly can help solve a mystery.

Thank you for raising these questions in an ethical and productive way. I struggle with this question too. I appreciate your thoughts on it.

The problem is the insurance company's refuse services that these people need. They know these people need to be in a care facility until they can prove their going to follow through with treatment and have to follow up with case managers. I don't want to hear about their rights. They don't have the mental capability to make responsible decisions. 16:00

In many instances it seems that insurance companies have more say over our care than our doctors do. It's frustrating.

Private insurance is not the one paying for an institution for the (would be) criminally insane.

Of course, that law should be strengthened!! The victim should be protected, too!! Prayers for the family and friends of these poor victims 🙏 Thank you, John, for all you do for everyone 😘🥰

This is one of the best videos I've ever seen on yt. Way too few people have seen this.
An extremely difficult and complex problem that few people can describe without resorting to oversimplification.
Along with the staff at a mental healthcare hospital; other patients are also at risk of violence.
People seem to kind of imagine a combo place to deposit all of the problem people, which apparently includes the violent ones, whether or not they have a treatable condition. This imaginary place must be somewhere in between supermax and the old school insane asylum. And it exists and no cost.
That hit home when you said that the surviving woman said _get away from me_

In my town they closed the psychiatric hospital and turned it in to a sex offender prison because the state could get more money no help for mental health patients

I'm thinking the marine should not have been charged for his actions as he stepped in to stop the man from assaulting multiple people. The marine also placed the man in to a recovery position. Best advice stay as far away from NYC as possible. Remember when NYC charged the Bodega owner after someone tried to take his life but he took theirs. The charges were dropped but NYC protects the criminal not the victim. Currently we have illegals assaulting NYPD with zero consequences. NYC is actually paying them to assault the police. Unbelievable.
