If you open the next section where the display is connected you will see a wire harness that clips into sensor . I unclipped it not cutting any wires and it works perfectly! 😊💪

I was a Finance Controller at the factory in Ohio that developed the K-cup along with Keurig. When the patent expired in 2013, the company I worked for lost the Keurig business; however, quickly picked up on other brand K-Cups. There was only one machine left producing the plastic cups when I left the company. That machine put out around 200,000 cups per hour.
All you need is an orange highlighter. Color a 1/2" stripe on the top rim of a pod. Place the pod in the machine with the orange stripe at the notch on left -9 o'clock position. Clise the lid and enjoy.
I got a 2.0 at a thrift shop for $15 that looked brand new and had all the components (carafe, needle cleaner, and half a dozen charcoal filters) it worked fine for a month and finally rejected my Victors cup this morning. After a brief rant and some cursing I got on the computer and found out the hacks . Yours is the only one that didn’t require a trip to Walmart! I’m now on my second cup! Thank you 🙏
OK, I have to brag: I used your idea for the fluorescent colors but I got a yellow fluorescent index card (just had an extra one my 13 year old was done with). I taped it up there under the "eye" and it opened up all my settings!!! I don't have to mess with it anymore! Now I can return the Sharpies and stickers!

Great Video. I just got my hands on a 2.0 machine and this is the ultimate hack. I will be going with hack number 5 to get over with the restrictions once and for all.
I use a generic reusable pod. Make sure the hinged side is facing left in the middle when u drop it in. When u close the lid use a little pressure and hold it down until the display for brewing pops up. Works every time.
I have a little purple plastic thing stuck in the top of my Keurig so that I could use reusable pods that I got years ago. Well, it fell out yesterday and I could not get it to stay again. I was just about to order the Keurig reusable k cup but reviews were mixed and it didn’t work on some machines! I am going to try what you suggested! Thank you!
Post it notes are great for one or two old k cups to be used till you use your old stock up but they get wet quick and I think I plugged a needle in the top for a few minutes doing it. I just wanted to share that its doable with a post it note for once in a while. The orange sticker is best.

I use the Freedom clip from Rogers coffee. Takes 5 seconds to install and the problem is solved. Clip comes free in every box of coffee they sell. I'm still using the same clip since Dec.
Just now received a used Keurig K 500 model. I like your hacks. Can you just mark over the k-cup area with markers (orange, yellow, etc.) rather than use the color labels? I’m going to try that hack and see if it works.
I have an older Keurig machine (actually our 2nd one) and love it. I have never actually purchased any K-cups to make coffee. We have always used the re-usable filter with our machines. That was the big selling point for me on my first Keruig machine was that I could have the convenience of making one fresh cup of coffee at a time and still use whatever coffee I wanted. I refuse to fill my garbage with those stupid one time use packs and I also am not going to pay that much for a cup of coffee. I know my current machine is going to wear out one day and now I am going to have figure out what to do replace it. I really think this "new feature" is very short sighted for the company to put in their coffee makers.
I went to Amazon and purchased some orange stickers specifically for the new Keurig. They only cost me $4.99 and they're reusable. So even if you get only 50, you can continually reuse that same one Make sure that you get the one with 5 star rating.
This is great. My clip doesn't always work. But the stickers work like a charm. Thank you so much. I have used the same sticker 3 times so far and I even bought 1,000 of the stickers. So that was the easiest and cheapest of the hack. You are awesome!

I got the freedom clip about 2 years ago - but the thing keeps falling off now. Won't re-clip back into my machine. So now I think I'll splurge at WalMart for those labels!

I have a pack of pink and orange neon Post-it brand stickers, 1.5" by 2" rectangles, so after seeing your comment, I cut off a piece of each one and covered the 9 o'clock position on the edge, but neither worked. What color(s) did you use? What did you cover? Do the colors match up to the results Ken discussed (pink = standard; yellow or orange = advanced?)

My original plastic k refillable it comes with broke. The lids plastic parts started to break off. So I was getting the oops message. I simply started running as HOT water. Never a problem. The coffee strength has not been compromised. I use the refillable cup every single day. I have not tried an original k cup but I can't see why it would not work the same. Good luck. 😜

Another fun hack (not sure if it's really a hack) but instead of microwaving ramen noodles (which it suggests you don't because of the harmful foam) you can use the Keurig to dispense hot water right over the ramen ^.^ it also taste better this way in my opinion.
Me and my Kids do this all the time. Run a 4 oz plastic cup of hot water to rinse the doffee out of the brewing station. THen run a full cup right into the ramen styrofoam container, or into a mug or bowl with the noodles alreayd broken up in it. Let stand 1-2 mins to absorb hot water, then add the packet.
JackG79 when life isn’t that handy I like to just buy those cup noodles and hit the 6oz and then close the lid and it works perfect no one has time for boiling water for ramen

You can also just remove the green wire, without cutting it by unplugging it after opening the machine. You can always put it back in and therefore you will only temporarily void your warranty and if need to be returned just pop it back in and they'll be none the wiser.

Morning, We just got a new replacement 2.0 Keurig and we just tried doing this and it is not working for us We did everything as instructed but when we close the lid it keeps saying preheating and it stops and will not brew. Do you have any idea what we are doing wrong. We have used all stick except the green. We just

Very helpful! Our 2.0 machine is having difficulty reading registered 2.0 k cups with the proper markings. Which I definitely find infuriating.... This machine came close to being slammed against a wall! Such a stupid thing to prevent one from their morning coffee. Love this machines coffee but if not reliable it becomes an over priced paper weight.
Hey my Nick name is Razz. There’s an easier way to trick the brewer to use any universal filter. Peel off a used label top, Cut in half Glue on left side of filter lid, label side up, that’s the side the filter reads the label. Let dry, pop in and use, you’ll have full menus access and it’s a more permanent fix.

I did the Avery neon hack and I could only get the purple and orange ones to work the yellow and green would not work for me. I know you said the yellow would work to but in your video you only use the purple and orange stickers. Did you really get the yellow to work? Hi I was so SO excited when I saw this video I couldn’t wait to try it out. I have a 2.0 k525..... I’ve try two of the methods I thought would work FOR SURE! I tried coloring the piece of paper with the Sharpie pen and the other one was the neon labels (which was my first choice). BUT NOTHING!!! I GOT AN “OOPS” MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN!! PLEASE HELP.....sad, disappointed & frustrated 😢😩😖

Has anyone tried using a color printer to make the label to put on the K-Cup? If I had the right color settings I could go into photoshop and print on labels I already had or use a regular piece of paper and use double sided tape. Haven't tried i yet. If someone wants to try let me know, so I can try it.
I forgot to put my favorite hack. It was the last one with yellow, pink, orange, squares or circles. It was the simplest and had the most options. #kk60k

my wife likes the refillable kcups but our keurig didn't recognize them anymore. she did the neon marker trick and now she can use them again. awesomesauce
I have the freedom clip that ive had for awhile so I bought the color coded lables like Ken said and.I put the orange one on top of the sm color dot on the freedom clip guess what I got the full menu.I dint have to mess with any part of my machine.!!!!!!!!!!! I get it all.
I have an original Kcup machine and a vue, coffee from the vue tastes much better but they quit selling the vue cups except on line and at a higher price. I had bariatric surgery in April and now all I can drink is a sugar free decaf vanilla latte from starbucks. I just bought a used espresso machine and a milk frother cheap on ebay, that is all I use anymore. No more un biodegradable k cups for me! Of course this was after I bought a box of 100 kcups of my fav coffee while on vacation in Ma., it was so cheap---it went to college with my son! LOL!
have tried it all... Other then wire cutting. Would so rather not do that and lose my warrantee! Tried the stickers that came with pods. Nothing.. And the stickers you use, nothing... Only thing to work is with old foil. Why?! I have a 2.0 200.

Some of these hacks wont work on new 2017 machines kurig added plastic so freedom clip dont work ,and color label hack wont work . Only 1 i got to work is taking label off a kuerig.

I find it counterintuitive that the Keurig 2.0 forces you to use their K-cups. I get that you want people to use your products, but what if people don't care for the k-cups and they want to use the little k-cups filters :(
Funny thing? The audio quality kept wavering on my PC for the 1st few minutes of this video clip. Every time I stopped to properly adjust the volume against the ambient noise in my office and against the awful audio of the clip, I would get faked out a short while later and have to keep adjusting my volume. As this was extremely annoying, I was pleased that for whatever reason, the audio quality finally smoothed out and I could hear Ken's instructions. So peeps, as I have been blessed/cursed with a very strong curious nature, I need to ask.....are any of you viewers feeling me on this or is it just me and my PC? lol

THen run a full cup right into the ramen styrofoam container, or into a mug or bowl with the noodles alreayd broken up in it. Let stand 1-2 mins to absorb hot water, then add the packet.
JackG79 when life isn’t that handy I like to just buy those cup noodles and hit the 6oz and then close the lid and it works perfect no one has time for boiling water for ramen

You can also just remove the green wire, without cutting it by unplugging it after opening the machine. You can always put it back in and therefore you will only temporarily void your warranty and if need to be returned just pop it back in and they'll be none the wiser.

Morning, We just got a new replacement 2.0 Keurig and we just tried doing this and it is not working for us We did everything as instructed but when we close the lid it keeps saying preheating and it stops and will not brew. The labels did not work for me I have the 2.0 460 from Sam's Club. I don't know if that makes a different help because I love 16 0z cups of coffee.

Very helpful! Our 2.0 machine is having difficulty reading registered 2.0 k cups with the proper markings. Which I definitely find infuriating.... This machine came close to being slammed against a wall! Such a stupid thing to prevent one from their morning coffee. Love this machines coffee but if not reliable it becomes an over priced paper weight.

Hey my Nick name is Razz.
There’s an easier way to trick the brewer to use any universal filter.
Peel off a used label top,
Cut in half
Glue on left side of filter lid, label side up, that’s the side the filter reads the label.
Let dry, pop in and use, you’ll have full menus access and it’s a more permanent fix.
Bypassed... Cut the wire to the optics. Wouldn't read even the proper pods. Worked fine manually.
#KK60K my favorite would be to cut the wire after the warranty if out. But the stickers are the best way to go.

I did the Avery neon hack and I could only get the purple and orange ones to work the yellow and green would not work for me. I know you said the yellow would work to but in your video you only use the purple and orange stickers. Did you really get the yellow to work? Rogers Family is no longer providing the Freedom clip. Their cups are 2.0 compatible, but it would be nice to have that clip for other brands, know of anyone who has created something like that?
just search keurig freedom clip on ebay they run about 3.99 . i bought a reusable k-cup and k-karafe and it came with the freedom clip ,works great

I have a 2.0 k525..... I’ve try two of the methods I thought would work FOR SURE!
I tried coloring the piece of paper with the Sharpie pen and the other one was the neon labels (which was my first choice). BUT NOTHING!!! I GOT AN “OOPS” MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN!!

This hack was working (orange color on carafe pod) but now it doesn't. My thought is the sensor needs cleaning - any idea on how to do that?
Use some alcohol and a Q-Tip, this should help. Wow, forgot how long ago I did this video. Hope it works for you.
@@KensKreations I had a clip with a purple color that came with the refillable carafe pod so I just put an orange sticker over it and it worked perfect with the advanced features.

Has anyone tried using a color printer to make the label to put on the K-Cup? If I had the right color settings I could go into photoshop and print on labels I already had or use a regular piece of paper and use double sided tape. Haven't tried i yet. my wife likes the refillable kcups but our keurig didn't recognize them anymore. she did the neon marker trick and now she can use them again. awesomesauce
I have the freedom clip that ive had for awhile so I bought the color coded lables like Ken said and.I put the orange one on top of the sm color dot on the freedom clip guess what I got the full menu.I dint have to mess with any part of my machine.!!!!!!!!!!! I get it all.

I have an original Kcup machine and a vue, coffee from the vue tastes much better but they quit selling the vue cups except on line and at a higher price. I had bariatric surgery in April and now all I can drink is a sugar free decaf vanilla latte from starbucks. I just bought a used espresso machine and a milk frother cheap on ebay, that is all I use anymore. No more un biodegradable k cups for me! Of course this was after I bought a box of 100 kcups of my fav coffee while on vacation in Ma., it was so cheap---it went to college with my son! LOL!

Some of these hacks wont work on new 2017 machines kurig added plastic so freedom clip dont work ,and color label hack wont work . Only 1 i got to work is taking label off a kuerig.

I find it counterintuitive that the Keurig 2.0 forces you to use their K-cups. I get that you want people to use your products, but what if people don't care for the k-cups and they want to use the little k-cups filters :(
Ken, I done a Keurig logo history.
Funny thing? The audio quality kept wavering on my PC for the 1st few minutes of this video clip. Every time I stopped to properly adjust the volume against the ambient noise in my office and against the awful audio of the clip, I would get faked out a short while later and have to keep adjusting my volume. As this was extremely annoying, I was pleased that for whatever reason, the audio quality finally smoothed out and I could hear Ken's instructions. So peeps, as I have been blessed/cursed with a very strong curious nature, I need to ask.....are any of you viewers feeling me on this or is it just me and my PC? lol
