This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.
I'm not sure if you are referring to my video on disassembling the Keurig or not, but I do have a video out there, so I can only assume. Your methods are great, especially if you don't want to take it apart, so I'm certainly not bashing you at all, great job! The only other downfall of my method is that you can't use "Karafe" pods, but I don't ever use them, so to each their own. Since I did my hack, I have never needed to tape anything or cut anything to get my hack working. If you have a Keurig marked cup, full menu comes up every time... If you don't have the printed foil, simply use the freedom clip and again, you get full menu. Tape and adhesive usually contains pine sap in it, and I found it to put unwanted smells and flavors in my coffee. No matter what your cup of tea is (pun intended), you have plenty of options... again, great job here.
Actually, it's a lot easier than that. I discovered that if I take an ordinary black ballpoint pen, and write the letter K in two places on opposite sides around the rim of my non-Keurig cup, with the K oriented outside to inside (i.e. the top of the K is on the circumference), it works on at least the two new Keurig machines I have tried it on. ALWAYS works for me. And the non-Keurig cups I use happen to have dark orange rims, not even white, so as long as the two black-ink K are visible, it works.
Question..... Why not just hit 8oz. brew then when its done open the machine and shut it again and choose 4 or 6 oz. depending on the size of drink you prefer? Although keurig should have included 12 oz in the options for a single cup like the old ones did the coffee still tastes good over the recommended 10 oz. size. nice video though. maybe you can get some help if your gonna record another because you sure did need one more hand.
Those of us in the Rocket Number 9 household would just like to say thank you for this. Yours is the first one that worked that didn't involve us disassembling the cradle.
I bought kcups that didn't work and was ready to open my machine and cut the wire, but couldn't find the screws. So I was looking for the hack video and stumbled on to your video and saved me time and headache!! Thanks a lot!!
One time I opened the cup after using it and saw so much coffee unused. THE EASIEST thing I have found is ....... use the same k-cup .... twice. I simply put it in for the highest amount ..... and there is my cup but wait ...its not full to the top. I open it and pull out the cup and tap it on the counter to loosen up the grounds then place it back in ........wait for it ... for a SMALLER ounce amount ......that will then fill my cup to the brim !!
on my K170 keurig unit it allows me to use the same original K-cups for up to 14oz cups of coffee and it is still strong enough for me. I use breakfast blend San Francisco bay coffee from the Rogers coffee company sold on Amazon. 120 K-cups/about $43 They have others that are stronger. They come with a clip that allows you to use their K-cups in a 2.0 machine.
Works to an extent. Using the precisely trimmed k-carafe ring shown here, all menus are unlocked. However, testing several k-cups on 12 oz. and 14 oz. sizes, the brewing process invariably fails about 3/4 of the way through. The Keurig will give you a warning error and some mumbo jumbo about the brewing process being interrupted due to loss in water pressure. This was the case even after a full clean and needle maintenance. Just a little warning before you all get your hopes up!
To make my 14 oz cup of coffee/tea I brew 10oz that it allows from factory then open and close the machine without changing the kCup and brew a 4 oz cup. That way I am not getting straight hot water and have a nice big cup of coffee/tea.
I LOVE you for this! My husband got me a Keurig 2.0 for Christmas and although i want the options I do not want to void the extra 1 year warranty. So again THANK YOU!!!
Glad I can help. I actually gave this one to my wife early. It was supposed to be a Christmas gift, and she loved it until it didn't work with our old cups. And I did not like it because of the small cup size. so I looked at RUclips videos and did not find any solutions that were practical. So I made this video. I feel really good it is helping others. I am a real consumer and do not get paid to do this unlike some other videos I have seen.
Roger Stevens that's cool. This video is not to show people how to do it, it is to show them how to do it without destroying their machine. There are too many videos of people taking apart the machines because they do not want to lift it and then select 4oz, So I made this to show that it could be done without voiding warranty. Thanks for watching, sharing, and your comment.
Robs Vlogs and Reviews Yes we are on the same page there. I understand the intent of the video and think your idea is a great one. I was just throwing out how I'm getting around the small cup dilemma.
RobRealistic thats why I was like on edge of my chair... I just saw one video where the guy is showing you the machine's red and blue wiring.. I'm like... are you serious???
If you don't want to tape or glue anything to your Keurig, You could simply hold a neodymium magnet to the front of the machine just right of center where the lid closes. Not on the lid, but below where the lid closes. I show you where in my video. ruclips.net/video/Wo55Je_-FEs/видео.html This is what actually activates the sensor for the carafe and all other sizes. You will still have to "fool" the other eye too, but this gives you all size options. FYI: tape residue comes right off with rubbing alcohol. I have never had an issue with it permanently ruining anything, even with the 3M permanent stuff or duct tape. In my video I use tape originally but have since gone to velcro for the magnet (on the outside) so I can remove it if needed. I have a clip that I mentioned in the video that snaps into place for the other eye (no tape). If you don't want tape or velcro on you expensive machine (I get where you are coming from), simply hold it in place as before you close the lid. Also,my magnet method is completely hidden unless the lid is open. You would have to get below counter level to see it and really know where to look. It really shows in my video due to the lighting I was using, but in real life it's nearly invisible.
robbyinman You can't see the magnet unless you are way below counter level or the lid is open. Personally I think this entire machine is un-appealing. It's big, bulky, and doesn't make exceptional coffee. If it wouldn't have been a gift from my wife, I would have never purchased it. I've never once heard of anyone needing to modify a coffee maker just to make it usable and fully operational from the store. I will never purchase another Keurig Product. Bunn is probably the way to go if you want a high end coffee maker that brews fast and doesn't require proprietary coffee. I regret not kindly asking my wife if I could just return it and get a Bunn instead. I don't expect this thing to last very long anyway. It truly reminds me of an ink jet printer. I'm sure they have designed failure into the unit about the time they get their money out of us buying their proprietary coffee. Just wait and see, the next one will be harder to modify and their coffee will go up in price even more.
VictoRoy The keurig already has a magnet built in it. literally, this machine comes with everything you need to make it work right out of the box. Why place a magnet, when there is already a magnet?
Robs Vlogs and Reviews The main reason is because by sliding the mechanism forward as shown here, the bottom puncture needle is also moved out of the way requiring the user to take multiple steps every time they make a cup of coffee. Your method is very good and well done by the way. I just took it a different direction. Both of my methods only require dropping in the coffee and closing the lid. It just simply works the first time, every time. My external magnet mod was for people that might not want to modify their machine or perhaps just not very technical. My permanent mod however leaves the machine looking completely stock but fully functional. It only takes about 10 minutes to complete. Both methods are very simple and don't require multiple steps every time a cup of coffee is made. Once again, your video is very good, I just went a different direction with it.
Vegas Vixen You are absolutely right and I couldn't agree more! That machine is far superior to the Keurig. If this machine had not been a gift, I would have never purchased it. However I have it permanently fixed now so it works as it should. I'll just hang on to it until it dies.
I would also like to if you can make a refillable filter for coffee grounds? Since the 2.0 350 machine doesn't accept these. I found this out online recently, that only some models accept the refillable filters. I was pretty bummed out after buying a few different refillable filters. And my machine wouldn't read them. The keurig cups can be costly. Lol
I just want to say thank you so much! I just got a K250 for Christmas and bought some local made kcups that don't support the 2.0. Thank god I saw this before hand so I did not need to panic. I simply dug through my trash for a past used kcup that works and cut the top off. I will now go around telling everyone I know about this awesome easy hack. :)
Pull the magnet down as if the big cup was in there and stick a toothpick the the right hole. Done. Don't know if this work for the tea cups but it's easier than cutting up an old cup. I just did this on my 2.0 in literally 10 secs.
This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Just select 10oz, when that's done, open and close it and select 4oz. You don't have to do all this messing around with cups and lids. Doing it this guys way is more work than making a regular pot of coffee.
this is true. But why go purchase the magnet when everything is supplied in the box, not only to "hack" but to get the full menu. you don't need to hate because you had to search for a solution where as I created one. have a nice day.
i purchased a Brew and save Brand refilable filter Carafe size made for all kurig 2.0 models at walmart for about 8$. you can use your own coffee and brew 1 cup or a pot. by useing the caraf size refilable filter it opens up all the brewing options of the machine. Also you can use any brand k-cup all you need to do is put the k-cup in the machine close it open it so the k-cup top and bottom holes are poked put the k-cup in the carafe size refilable filter close it and brew using any brew option you want...it works i use my kurig 2.0 this way.
Heres a question from someone whom doesnt own a Keurig: Does the small cups being used for a larger cup of coffee/tea (ie. 14oz or carafe) produce weaker/less strong of a coffee/tea?
Some brands are just regular 8 -10 oz strength and then others which advertise themselves as Bold, can easily make a 12-14 oz. I bought some Paul Newman Organic Bold and found in order to get it like I like it, had to use the 10oz. + 8 oz. size so that it wouldn't be bitter. It's all a matter of your likes or dislikes - Experiment and find what you like :)
Keurig has been taking us for a ride from day one. You know how many cups of coffee you can make with a pound of coffee. How many K-cups will you have empty to get a pound of ground coffee.
Dude, I've spent a silly amount of time going through all the hack videos. Didn't have success with the magnet, wasn't too enthused about the "Permanent Mod" approaches... so when I found this, I was like "finally!" and I love your video and style. Great job. Have to admit though, my coffee was... weak at the 14 oz setting with a single K-CUP. I even put it on the "strong" setting. I think the reason it only goes up to 10 oz normally is because there just isn't enough coffee in that cup for make it strong with any more water than that. I was using DD original blend which I know is already a bit weak and I use a lot of creamer, so maybe that played a part but still... hopefully the eco-carafe (which is coming in today) will work just as well.
Thing is it makes the flavor weaker... there's a reason they only go up to 12 ounces. If you want more just use a bigger cup with more grounds or use two k cups and two separate brews for better quality and flavor
Good idea. I did you hack but when I make a 14oz. cup of coffee I get coffee grounds inside the machine and a lot of grounds in my coffee cup. I made a second plastic ring and it did the same thing. I did close the lid first to punch the holes then installed the ring and K-cup of coffee. Hit 14oz on the menu and when it is done brewing I have grounds all inside the Kurig and in my cup. I used menu option 3. I also see that the K-cup is ruptured on the very edge nest to the "other" needle. What's up? I'm thinking it might be pushing too much water through because I didn't use the option 3 and hit Strong. I'll try again tomorrow. Anyone else have this issue?
I got some Charleston Chew hot cocoa given to me and it says on the box compatile with a 2.0 kuerig brewer, so i pre heated my Kuerig machine dropped the hot cocoa pod in the resevor and closed it and it brought up the word OOPS. I have 12 pods that i can't use, and can't get refund on them, and i am very upset that those pods didn't work, And i love Vanilla Nougat hot cocoa!
30 seconds or less - simply cut LIGHT GREEN DOT off a Carafe cup and tape to machine so the optical sensor can read. This will allow any cup to work and opens full menu. That is it
I didn't see your video, but we both think alike. I made the exact same modification on a carafe cup. However, I kept the top rim attached and removed all the foil. This gave my new wedge a little bit more rigid stability that what you had. I removed the wedge inserted my regular k cup piercing the top and bottom removing it and then inserting the wedge and then the regular k cup. And I was good to brew.
yeah that is actually what i have now. I did a little more experimenting and cut the bottom off the cup and removed the foil.. thanks for watching and sharing.
You can also use a small 1/4 thick size magnet. Place it on to the right of them bottom part of the machine to where it reads Adult Supervision. This is what I did. No need for the plastic insert. then you only need the cover for the tea. I have a picture, but obviously YT won't let me copy and paste it here. The magnet sits on the bottom of the machine opening and does not interfere with the opening or closing. I always have the second menu when I use the machine. I too like large coffee.
so much work for a coffee! You get the same effect when you put a little magnet on that little space where you can pull for the big cup holder. You get all the menu!!!
Worked fine the first time, now every time I use the hack piece, it busts open the side of the K-cup and gets coffee grounds all over the inside of the machine and in the bottom of the mug.
Agreed. Maybe an 8oz and a 6oz just for variety's sake. No hack, no tape, just push the buttons twice. And for an even better 14oz coffee, use a fresh Kcup for the 2nd time. With the time it took to hack the machine and make this video, I could have double-cycled a large coffee about a hundred times...
Allister Bradley This video is for the people who do not want to take apart their machine to get around the licence reader, the oz is just a bonus. Thanks for your opinion.
The cutting of the K-Carafe is the easiest and best solution I've seen here on You Tube. My only suggestion is that one cut the empty K-Carafe cup at about exactly half, and leave the lip intact on the rim, as it makes it much more sturdy you use for the hack. Menu comes up great!!
This is the best hack. Awesome indeed after looking at a few videos. I'm so glad I did my homework & found this. Thank you so much for this, I'm grateful :)
Is there any way to update a K45 Elite which has 3 cup sizes, but the largest one is only 9.25 oz not 10 oz. Is there any way of making a little larger serving?
You can just put a sticker of hi lighted paper, I used some card stock, and tape it over the optical sensor on the back left on the closing lid of your Kurig. I swear by this. It works great. Look a video up about it
i buy a bunn- quicker, yes quicker than 60 sec. and the same price range .stores water also or hook to a h2o line they are just not as popular . up to 14 oz. any self or k thingy u want
Mother inlaw bought us one of these machines, its more basic than yours. No lcd. You seem to know alot of tricks so perhaps you can clear something up for me. The old coffee drip Pot would take 3 equal k cup of brounds for 10 cups, in reality 5 real mugs for for vuys like us. So my first thought was im not getting full value out of a kcup. Seems a waste of coffee grounds. So with your mod, do you find that when you brew 14oz through the smaller k cup, your coffee strength is weak. I dont like strong coffee but i do want some flavour. I tried brewing to small cups twice from one cup. Withh squeezing and rolling the kcup before the second brew to ensure i mix up any grounds in the cup that did not get diluted. I find this works but just on the tad weak side. Thnks fr the vid, i subed and liked... cheers
So basically if you brew a regular size k cup with a 14 ounce glass you're only adding two ounces of what was offered in the original keurigs. So if you want a weaker flavor you can select option 3 and brew a 14 ounce glass at a normal rate however if you want a stronger flavor select option 2 and click the strong button and it brews at a slower rate to give you more flavor I hope this clears your problem.
i recently bought myself a Keruig Christmas. I just wanna say thanks to this video i watched this and now i am able to brew bigger k pods of coffee and hot chocolate :) you rock!!!! also another trick i sae about thr magnrt and now can brew my 16 oz coffee using my k cup and own coffee. No more buying expensive Vue packs yay.
U know if u just pre puncture the k cup take the k cup out pull the tab back, drop the cup in and take a knife or a pair of scissors and hold the tab back and shut the top it it will work that way also. U don't need this plastic or tape
+Monique Sykes hello....im confused. wasn't he explaining how to get a bigger brew from one k cup. the other vid hacks were explaining how to use ANY k cup with the machine.
+Monique Sykes hello....im confused. wasn't he explaining how to get a bigger brew from one k cup. the other vid hacks were explaining how to use ANY k cup with the machine.
I have a 12 oz. cup. All I do is run a regular K-Cup thru once at 6oz. then run it thru again at 6oz. For 14oz. you could use 10oz. and 4oz. Nothing to cut, nothing to tape.
Hi, I like your hack but would this be even simpler?: Go ahead and use some non-gummy way of permanently sticking the K-Carafe label to the sensor (above the surface of the sensor port - so you don't even see it), next insert a K2V Vue cup (by Perfect Pod [K2V], Solofill, Kinba, or EZ-Cup, etc). This "K2V" adapter pushes the lever down (swinging the k-cup needle away), but HAS ITS OWN NEEDLE. Just pop any k-Cup in the Vue-to-K-Cup converter - and you'd get FULL MENUS in one step (without having to FIRST puncture a hole in your k-cup!). You can even use refillable K-Cups in the K2V adapter, or its own refillable Vue cup. If using regular (non-Keurig branded) Vue Cups or K-Carafes, just lift out the K2V converter and you still have FULL MENUS when any Vue or the K-Carafe. I haven't tried this as I am receiving my K560 for Xmas, but have studied the reviews. Pls let me know what you think?
That's cool, But the small cups are only good enough to get 8 oz of strong coffee. At 10 it starts tasting watered down to me. I couldn't imagine 14 ounces.
Why doesn't Keurig provide bigger pods to get larger cups of coffee? I don't want my coffee diluted either, so buy making larger pods I could enjoy a larger cup of undiluted coffee. I love big cups of beverages! I don't think I'm the only one either! It is kind of wierd and unsanitary to mess around with tape and old and used pod tops.
Why not just buy the Keurig pot that allows U to make an actual pot of coffee. I bought one for $19.00 at Smiths supermarket here in Las Vegas. But you can purchase them almost anywhere.
Maybe I missed it, but isn't using the "tape" method a way of getting around the DRM?? If you are only using Keurig cups, then your "hack" works just fine, but if you buy non-keurig cups then you won't get ANY coffee at all.
This worked!! So happy I can make my expresso gevalia that's for Keriug but won't work in the 2.0 thanks for being logical. No one wants to screw up there Keriug! 😊
Why not use just a piece of tape, a 1x1 inch piece of paper coloured in using a Sharpie neon yellow highlighter? (must be neon & got mine at Staples) Gives you the full menu every time, use any kcup you want & you water is 5 deg hotter. Much easier permanent fix.
I'm finding me increased water pressure on the larger presetting seems to melt the tinfoil around the edges where it's glued to the cup causing the grounds to spill into the coffee every time. Am I doing something wrong?
TheOtherrr lol ok yeah I had that problem too. if it continues you could make the hole bigger on the bottom of the cup with a firm or something, that solved it for me.
The refillable cups may be too big for your machine. RUclips how to hack the cup and then just place the top of a licensed kcup on top of it like my video discribes.
Looks like they need a software update. They should have an option that says "custom" which allows the user to select how many oz they want. It should be up to a competent operator to know what size cups to use. I have the older model and to fill my large cup, I brew on large setting, open and close the lid and then brew a small. Fills it right up. This might not be ideal for people who like strong coffee.
Yea, the 'arts and crafts' cutting cups solution is annoying and you have to constantly maintain it. Just open it up and cut the green sensor wire and the problem is solved forever.
Smart mehod Looooove it thank you I still wonder why people are fond of these expensive restricted machines I still prefer the old fashion coffee machines
Save time, money and the environment, use a regular teabag. These Keurig hacks now take more time than drip coffee with a simple filter. I never understood how people preferred bland kcups to fresh ground coffee.
Thank you so much. Works perfectly! I just had to find out a way I could work around this issue. I have a full menu now, and I am able to use my own special blend of coffee that I grind myself. Love it!
The bigger the cup the weaker the coffee if you're using the same size K cup. Who wants to drink weak coffee? You're just adding more water to a smaller sized cup of coffee. Why not just nuke a mug of water and add it to your big cup?
Just put in your 10oz max pod, poke the bottom hole in it by closing the top. Then a piece of tape over the little slider for the large cups and close the lid. Voila, large pod options. No need to cut anything. And a lot less talking too.
^^^^ Sorry I was replying from my other Channel. But if it was watered down, and the flavor would not be good, I do not think Keurig would have this option in the software. In my opinion, it does not taste watered down when you select "2" and the check "strong" But try it out for yourself and let me know, I'm Curious. Thanks for your comment.
Walmart carries a refillable k cup that works for the 2.0 $5...I've also opened my old k cups and just pour them in the refillable. If a person doesn't want to purchase the cups for the 2.0, why spend over $100 for a coffeemaker. Ijs
This is a pretty good hack. I know a lot of people, as you said, we’re doing a lot of other hacks to try to bypass certain things. I have the pod clip which enables me to see the full menu. But , if I don’t put the clip on, I cannot get the full menu. I’ll have to buy the big K-cup pods so I can use the ring when I’m using a regular K-cup. TY.
why do people post negative things about a product? i think it's wrong. I purchased my Keurig for my own birthday yesterday. If you read the instruction book throughoughly, than you wont do anything wrong. I love my Keurig. Never wasting another cup of coffee or a whole coffee pot. I only drink 1 cup in the morning to get rid of my headaches when I wake up.
awesome man that will save you so much money on buying the bigger cups now I can get other brands cause I know how to get around it thanks again man robrealistic
you must really like watered down coffee and tea.... if you like 14oz of coffee or tea, why don't you just brew 2 pods or if you like the watered down coffee just brew the 8oz of coffee and add hot water genius!
Jeremy Alexander it is for the people who kept tearing apart there machine. that is all. weather they like the coffee is up to them. I'm saving their machine.
Jeremy Alexander trust me, your not picking on me. there are millions of wanna be trolls like yourself. just shows what type of life's people like that have. just sitting on the couch commenting on youtube videos. lol.
Great Hack Thanks...Just before watching yours I was watching the one where this guy started disassembling...less than halfway through I was like...nah not for me, to much money and to many parts that could go wrong.
Fucking Jesus we're 4 minutes into this and he still hasn't said anything. Got it. Thank God we finally got to some content. This guy has some good ideas. The video starts at 4 min
This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. That's what I do too
+Danette Hebert I like my coffee strong, do you know if this works without making the coffee weak?
+Miranda McCallister There is a strong drink setting or button on the unit isn't there?
Yes but I wanted to know if it affected it
on my K170 keurig unit it allows me to use the same original K-cups for up to 14oz cups of coffee and it is still strong enough for me. I use breakfast blend San Francisco bay coffee from the Rogers coffee company sold on Amazon. 120 K-cups/about $43 They have others that are stronger. Robs Vlogs and Reviews Yes we are on the same page there. I understand the intent of the video and think your idea is a great one. I was just throwing out how I'm getting around the small cup dilemma.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
RobRealistic thats why I was like on edge of my chair... I just saw one video where the guy is showing you the machine's red and blue wiring.. I'm like... are you serious???
bell lab yeah, that did not make much since to me.
if you want a completely watered down cup of "coffee", yes.
Or, you could just add hot water to the small brew and you get your diluted beverage..
i did that with one of my other models and worked like a charm but thanks for the update on how to get larger cups brewed,.....keep up the great ideas
If you don't want to tape or glue anything to your Keurig, You could simply hold a neodymium magnet to the front of the machine just right of center where the lid closes. Not on the lid, but below where the lid closes. I show you where in my video.
ruclips.net/video/Wo55Je_-FEs/видео.html
This is what actually activates the sensor for the carafe and all other sizes.
Again great video for people who don't mind taping and making their Keurig look un-appealing.
robbyinman You can't see the magnet unless you are way below counter level or the lid is open.
Lol
hey I lived with a small cup of coffee from my Keurig for sometime and I always wondered how to get a bigger fill in my cup I may try this thanks
For stronger coffee with a larger 16oz size mug use two K-cups with only 8 oz water per K-cup.
+Robert Greenhouse Young people don't know that kind of math.
Skip to 6:35 for the hack.
You could have skipped a ton of talking
yes you could have skiped this video. have a nice day.
Dont be a bitch
Skip a ton of important information?
Pull the magnet down as if the big cup was in there and stick a toothpick the the right hole. Done. Don't know if this work for the tea cups but it's easier than cutting up an old cup. I just did this on my 2.0 in literally 10 secs.
This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Just select 10oz, when that's done, open and close it and select 4oz. You don't have to do all this messing around with cups and lids. Doing it this guys way is more work than making a regular pot of coffee.
Lol, the point it people are destroying the machine to get the same results.
u can stick a small magnet in the bottom portion of where u put the k-cup in. full menu. no detroying the machine. also solves the problem.
this is true.
All I do is make my 8 oz and than open and close and make another 6 oz with same kcup. No hack no brainer.
Thanks so much. I know what to do now if/when I upgrade to a newer Keurig model. I also like bigger amounts at times so will eventually upgrade.
Keurig has been taking us for a ride from day one. You know how many cups of coffee you can make with a pound of coffee. How many K-cups will you have empty to get a pound of ground coffee.
You explained this very well.... But it makes me not want to buy a keurig---- so much work now!
+Donna Monterey a regular coffee pot is so much better..it brews more cups.
Thank you for your video. Very helpful, my only question is, wouldn't your coffee or tea be weak or watery?
I too want a refillable cup for my 350 Keurig 2.0 any ideas? I love your hack for options of the size and brand. thanks
Sounds great. Will try it when my new machine arrives. Thanks.
I too like large coffee.
yes, but Keurig gives us all of the necessary items when we purchase it to make it work.
so much work for a coffee!
You can just choose 10 ounce and when its done flip the lid up and down and choose 4 ounce without removing the cup
I mean I guess you can do that if you want to stand next to your Keurig. I used to do that until I did this hack. Thanks for your comment
Thank you so much! I just got my 2.0 and I like your hacks! They work for me.. simple but Im not taking my machine apart.
The old coffee drip
Pot would take 3 equal k cup of brounds for 10 cups, in reality 5 real mugs for for vuys like us.
Worked perfect for me and took less than 10 minutes.
THANK YOU!!
This hack is best because you do not have to alter the mechanics in any way.
i recently bought myself a Keruig Christmas. I just wanna say thanks to this video i watched this and now i am able to brew bigger k pods of coffee and hot chocolate :) you rock!!!! also another trick i sae about thr magnrt and now can brew my 16 oz coffee using my k cup and own coffee. No more buying expensive Vue packs yay.
u can us a magnet at the space where the point comes to
The 2.0 Hot is great. Buy a reusable k-cup for singles and another for carafes. Add your own coffee grinds.
U know if u just pre puncture the k cup take the k cup out pull the tab back, drop the cup in and take a knife or a pair of scissors and hold the tab back and shut the top it it will work that way also. U don't need this plastic or tape
I love a man with a brain! You're amazing.
thanks.
you're welcome.
+Denise Rice no you're welcome
😊
+Denise Rice lol u 2 know each other don't you ? lol ;-)
Now I like this hack! I would've never thought of this! The other videos that I saw were just too much...very simple!
No...this hack is to get the bigger cup sizes. Now 4 6 8 and 10oz are available but using this hack gets the bigger ounces
I have a 12 oz. cup. All I do is run a regular K-Cup thru once at 6oz. then run it thru again at 6oz. For 14oz. you could use 10oz. and 4oz. Nothing to cut, nothing to tape.
Great effort Rob, I hope you have binned the bloody machine since 2014.
Lol... um it was posted then silly.
This is great for people whom don't mind placing tape on their keurig. But in my opinion I don't mind 1.5 seconds longer to puncture the holes.
If you are only using Keurig cups, then your "hack" works just fine, but if you buy non-keurig cups then you won't get ANY coffee at all.
the top that I'm using
the top that I'm using is that hack you speak of. I am enhancing that hack.
This worked!! So happy I can make my expresso gevalia that's for Keriug but won't work in the 2.0 thanks for being logical. No one wants to screw up there Keriug! 😊
I just open and close the hopper and run water through twice. That seems easier to do that than this hack.
Thanks!!! Wait.. I just tried a different label and it didn't work...make a video of how to cut the top off please
Couldn't you just make a 12oz cup, open and close the lid and make a 2oz (to add 2 oz more) to get it the size you would like? Sounds like less drama.
really!!
OahuOdge does it allow you to do that?
OahuOdge yup, glad you could figure that out... but this video is about not disassembling the machine.
Never mind I fixed my own problem using the strong setting :)
TheOtherrr lol ok yeah I had that problem too. if it continues you could make the hole bigger on the bottom of the cup with a firm or something, that solved it for me.
Yay! Thanks for sharing! I'm excited for my big cups!!!!
If you want 12ouce just touch 8 once then 4 after you pick up the head and close it
OR you could use 6 + 6 and get your 12 oz. !!
Awesome tutorial; you're a great teacher Rob!
I have a keurig 2.0 400, I can't figure ut how to brew my own coffee with any refillable pods, that "oops" thing always pops up help please
The refillable cups may be too big for your machine. RUclips how to hack the cup and then just place the top of a licensed kcup on top of it like my video discribes.
Thanks for the video, its genius
Stephanie stout glad I could help
They make a my k cup for the 2.0 now you can buy it on Amazon. Comes in 2 sizes.
Looks easy, but is the coffee less strong?
that's great if you like weak coffee or tea,,,, I like mine strong so smaller cups are better for me; I just drink more cups....
Wonderful! Thanks for your 2.0 tips!!
Yea, the 'arts and crafts' cutting cups solution is annoying and you have to constantly maintain it. Just open it up and cut the green sensor wire and the problem is solved forever.
Smart mehod
Looooove it thank you
I still wonder why people are fond of these expensive restricted machines
I still prefer the old fashion coffee machines
I agree, but my wife wanted one so I bought her one. that's why I did this because it wasent up to snuff for me.
Save time, money and the environment, use a regular teabag. These Keurig hacks now take more time than drip coffee with a simple filter. I never understood how people preferred bland kcups to fresh ground coffee.
didn't you say you don't like using tape😐
infacide64 to permanently put on there
RobRealistic true. got any hacks for the old one?
infacide64 unfortunately no. sorry.
So, get a B145 unit, which has 6-8-10, and add 6 to an already 8=14. Simple enough?
Thank you so much. Works perfectly! I just had to find out a way I could work around this issue. I have a full menu now, and I am able to use my own special blend of coffee that I grind myself. Love it!
Glad I could help
The bigger the cup the weaker the coffee if you're using the same size K cup. Who wants to drink weak coffee? You're just adding more water to a smaller sized cup of coffee. Why not just nuke a mug of water and add it to your big cup?
Why would you want to make 14 oz or larger when you can't put more coffee so it will be diluted
4 Oz of coffee is not going to dilute your coffee, especially if it's designed to make 14 Oz of coffe.
Just put in your 10oz max pod, poke the bottom hole in it by closing the top. Then a piece of tape over the little slider for the large cups and close the lid. Voila, large pod options. No need to cut anything. And a lot less talking too.
Does it taste watered down when you make 14oz. of coffee? Or do you just use a stronger coffee for the 14oz.?
I don't think it taste watered down when I select #2 setting and check "strong"
^^^^ Sorry I was replying from my other Channel. But if it was watered down, and the flavor would not be good, I do not think Keurig would have this option in the software. In my opinion, it does not taste watered down when you select "2" and the check "strong" But try it out for yourself and let me know, I'm Curious. Thanks for your comment.
Walmart carries a refillable k cup that works for the 2.0 $5...I've also opened my old k cups and just pour them in the refillable. If a person doesn't want to purchase the cups for the 2.0, why spend over $100 for a coffeemaker. Ijs
Hiya, Rob! Good hack...good breakdown. Gonna give it a go. Cheers!
I like the guy that hacked it with the magnet.
awesome man that will save you so much money on buying the bigger cups now I can get other brands cause I know how to get around it thanks again man robrealistic
or you could just run two cycles on the same cup# DUHHH
yes we all know this.
How long would that video have been because this guy likes the sound of his own voice.
John Spears you would have to use two K-Cups to run two cycles. Waste of money
I just run mine twice with the same k cup. the optical reader is the problem basically stopping third party k cup makers.
This works flawlessly. Thank you for a great and easy hack!
you must really like watered down coffee and tea.... if you like 14oz of coffee or tea, why don't you just brew 2 pods or if you like the watered down coffee just brew the 8oz of coffee and add hot water genius!
Jeremy Alexander again, another person missing the point of the video.
Lol! I think the reason for your hack is funny.... To each his own
Jeremy Alexander it is for the people who kept tearing apart there machine. that is all. weather they like the coffee is up to them. I'm saving their machine.
You're a real life RUclips hero....
No really, nice video. I'll stop picking on you.
Jeremy Alexander trust me, your not picking on me. there are millions of wanna be trolls like yourself. just shows what type of life's people like that have. just sitting on the couch commenting on youtube videos. lol.
Great, so now I know how to get a big watered down cup of coffee out of a small K-cup.
Great Hack Thanks...Just before watching yours I was watching the one where this guy started disassembling...less than halfway through I was like...nah not for me, to much money and to many parts that could go wrong.
Andrew T. I am glad you did not destroy your machine. If you used this hack i hope it worked for you.
Yeah it worked fine, it's the only hack in using, I'm not making any modifications with the machine itself... Thanks
Fucking Jesus we're 4 minutes into this and he still hasn't said anything. Got it. Thank God we finally got to some content. This guy has some good ideas. The video starts at 4 min
I'm glad you said it before I did. You were a little nicer than I was going to be.
