Yes you are correct that's why there is a saying that goes "you cannot see a forest when you are in it" Basically South Africa can be easily rated by people coming from outside because they have experience the different with the country they are from. If you expand your horizons you will understand why people go where they go because travelling itself is beneficial for any individual. again we all need to look at each other without considering nationality because we were one b4 this continent was cut into pieces.

Our great and grandparents from as far as Malawi Zimbabwe Mozambique had sweat hard in their time to build most of the buildings you see around. We have the right to be in your country just like you also have the right to be in other countries. It pains me to see majority of South Africans not will to just travel to another country. Don't let the boarders deprive you from seeing the beauty of other countries. Let me tell you something you don't know. There are two milion white ellegal immigrants in S.A. and the whites are queit about that.
Fewer white people are unemployed because they are helped by their European illegal counter parts. The black Americans don't come here to live in sgualar like our neighbours countries people illegal in this country.
They start companies and employe our black South Africans. I know everything about world history. You won't stop both legal and illegal immigration. How many illegal immigrants are in S.A from countries in Africa? they are many.
I love them them because they are able to describe the suffering of a black person exactly like we do. Again I grew up listening to their music and I was fortunate to learn their history too.
We in S.A still think that coloured people are not black. We believe in what our oppressors engineered in order to devide us.
To them a small drop of a black blood in a white person reclassify them as black. They epitomized what black stands for more than we do.

As I said in a previous channel. South Africa has a rich and diverse cultural tapestry, stunning landscapes, and a unique history that sets it apart. Its natural beauty, with diverse ecosystems ranging from savannas to mountains, mirrors the vibrant landscapes of Wakanda. Additionally, South Africa's historical struggle against apartheid and its journey towards unity resonates with Wakanda's theme of resilience and progression. Embracing various languages and traditions, South Africa exemplifies the harmonious coexistence seen in Wakanda. It's a real-world marvel that reflects the spirit of a hidden gem. What makes a "capital", I don't know. What I do know is SA is Africa's most sophisticated economy, thoroughly modern and very cultural. Without doubt, it is Africa's present and also a defining part of its future. What I also know is that Nigeria is the entire black world's clear NorthStar and Africa's future. Of the top ten fastest growing African companies last year (per Financial Times), three were Nigerian, the only country with more than entry and also the ONLY companies with actual, black ownership. Africa's much discussed future population dividend has at its core Nigeria, which boasts two of the fastest growing cities globally (Lagos and Gwagwalada in Abuja).
You mention Fela Kuti. The incredible "soft power" Africa now boasts is shouldered by Nigeria, which has a confident and vocal community regardless of location, the black world's most traveled diaspora and well placed leaders globally. Nigeria also has one of the world's highest remittances, only partially trailing places like China and India. This, notwithstanding all the present challenges... ponder it. Nigeria is a vital stakeholder in Africa, and we all in her.
I also see tons of opportunity within Africa for Kenya as not only an anchor for East Africa but beyond, as well as for Rwanda as a small beacon of possibilities. Ghana and Senegal also both show indications of strong continental contributions in the future. As always Ashley, keep up the great work.

On immigration: I just worry that Americans with their stronger currency will push inflation up making things worse for the already marginalised. Also, no offence but our immigration laws need to be amended to discourage retirement immigration as it will be a disproportional burden on our social services, instead younger immigrants who will add to our tax base should be encouraged to.

    • @Pilane892
      @Pilane892 4 месяца назад

I think we're already facing a starin in our social services from a lot of unskilled young "illegal" immigrants who are not adding to our tax base but are disnvesting through repatriation of funds. Retiring immigrants actually have a net contribution to the fiscus through house construction, employment of house help, contributions to tourism, etc and do not repatriate any funds out the country. I would argue that they even pay for the health care they'll receive in their old age. Their immigration is "budgeted" immigration unless they run out of funds. The only downside might be the negative impact on house prices unless they build themselves which seems to be the new trend.

My understanding here in Kenya is the expatriates in South Africa face several challenges, including a high crime rate that necessitates heightened personal security measures. Economic disparities and high unemployment rates can lead to social unrest and occasionally xenophobia. Infrastructure issues, particularly rolling blackouts known as load shedding, disrupt daily life and work. The healthcare system is divided between under-resourced public services and expensive private care, requiring expats to secure comprehensive health insurance. Despite these challenges, the country's rich cultural diversity and natural beauty make it a rewarding place for many expatriates to live as you say.

I'd disagree, South Africa as a capital of Southern Africa maybe but not Africa.
People like to talk about one Africa and the sentiment is good and all but African is massive, Nigeria is closer to the UK than it is to South Africa. West Africa essentially operates as a separate continent from Southern Africa and to a lesser extent East Africa, Egypt operates as defacto West Asian nation and North Africa also are doing to their own thing.
I think it's more accurate to say South Africa is the most of the world's gateway into Africa for all the reasons you stated but not it's capital the continent is too diverse to have a single nation as it's capital.

South Africa was developed by whites with help from the west, Kenya has been developed & still is being developed by Blacks..
South Africa is mineral rich Kenya is not, yet we are up there & soon will pass South Africa.
I therefore consider Kenya a shinning example of how Blacks can develop their own homeland all by themselves..
Kenya is the only country in Africa that offers African American entrepreneurs an opportunity to join in building an African country into greatness, South Africa is already built & saturated..
    May God bless Kenya 🇰🇪

Whites didn’t develop South Africa. My entire life in SA I have never seen a white man lay a brick 🧱, it’s always Black people I see by construction side. White men might give instructions but the actual builder is always a black man . So who did the actual building? . Building is more hard work than instructing. The same way White women didn’t raise their own kids and hired Black Women to do so.
Also this isn’t a competition. I love Kenya.

South Africa is what it is because they have the largest white community in Africa. Diversity is necessary for development. Ignoring the huge contributions of the minority is foolishness. Without the minority, SA would be in the same boat with underdeveloped Africa. Thats why I like Candace Owens even though I am not American.

South Africa for sure has better infrastructure and financial resources than most African countries. But I wouldn't consider SA to be the most socially advanced African country..and definitely not from the perspective of quality of life for African people.
South African race relations are closer to 1950s Mississippi than anything else. Anti-black racism is endemic in South Africa. They still live with the kind of racial slurs and humiliation that other African countries got rid of decades ago.
They still live have Apartheid era racial classifications. Other countries have significant populations of mixed race people...Mozambique, Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria etc...but those people do not describe themselves as colored and do not consider themselves as a separate race.
Black South Africans are largely excluded from the enormous wealth of the country. Most large corporations are dominated in ownership and management by white South Africans who are only 7% of the population. Land ownership is the same story. Africans are 80% of the population but make up 4% of land ownership. Whites own 72% with the rest scattered amongst different groups.
In terms of living standards, almost 25% of black south africans are still crammed into townships with limited access to running water and electricity and the standards of education in those places is terrible.
You can't judge a country simply by how a wealthy minority lives. There's a lot more to the story
