    I wish you made these to sell. At least the bodice…I’ve been searching for months for a sarah Sanderson costume and they’re all hideous and yours is absolutely perfect 😩

      Aww, thank you so much! Unfortunately it took a LOT of time, and between my job and my health, I would have to charge a crazy amount for them to make to sell!

    The bodice came out beautifully. Great job. I dyed some "creepy cloth" from dollar tree for the sleeves but not sure how to sew or attach it yet. Wish me luck!

      Good luck! I would recommend using a sleeve pattern, and handsewing it into the inside of the bodice and on the strap by hand - that's what I ended up doing :)

    Love! I’m adapting a corset for a friend and I know nothing about sewing etc. I have a good tip for the sleeves tho - it’s what they originally used : cheesecloth. Just dye it that deep plum colour and it’s perfect!

      I did think about that, but I wanted something a little more durable, and my dryer was still stained red from another dying mishap, haha

    What did you use for the lining of the bodice. It looks a little stiff.

    • @Lossien

      It is a medium weight twill! You could use a lighter weight twill, or a medium weight cotton, or even lightweight denim. You just want something with a strong weave that will hold through the stress of the boning, and not wear out over time :)

    If you don't mind me asking what type of beads did you use in the center of the corset

    How do you sew the skirt together? What are your techniques for sewing multiple layers? Pinning is near impossible when you can’t see the inside layers. Did you do 2 stitches down the waist band? Only one? Was it a single stitch?

      I have a whole video about making the skirt ruclips.net/video/rs2dbjx2i90/видео.html
      I hope that answers your questions :)

      @@Lossien that video explained only the layering and that’s all…so no that didn’t help, sorry

      @@everafter14 I moved the pins to the top layer every time I pinned something new down, so that the pins remain visible - you can see as I pin the blush fabric down on top pf the red lace (though I didn't verbalize this, so I apologise).
      If you're having trouble seeing the pins, you can stitch each layer down separately once it's pinned. I stitched each layer in a single stitch along the fold line previously pressed into the waistband, stitching along the gathered basting stitch each time. If you find that the fabric isn't laying flat enough, you can definitely do a second stitch on each layer - I would recommend making sure it's further toward the seam allowance edge of the waistband, so that it doesn't show on the finished waistband, and taking time to make sure that the gathers are laying flat each time you sew a new piece down.

    What color fabric did you buy?

    • @Lossien
      @Lossien  2 года назад

      I ended up buying a purple shot with a mauve colour, to have the slight two tone look. But mostly a light purple!

    I'm feeling a bias towards the bodice here.. like "as long as I get this bodice to be better than the original..."

    • @Lossien
      @Lossien  3 года назад +1

      Haha, it was more that I couldn't find the material I wanted, so I had to do the detailing by hand... but it is also the iconic part of the costume, so you're not wrong!
