    I am up late tonight. This is my first time attempting life long dream of sewing. My gramma is so talented but when we are together we have never dedicated time. She’s set me up with all the essentials and I’ve had them for about a year. Just waited for the right pattern. The language of sewing is foreign to me though I have studied. Your video has given me the confidence. Thank you so much. Your vibe is so darling. Love listening to you. My 7 year old daughter watched your whole tutorial and she said I have to make her some. We love your piano music and voice. I’ll let you know if my Darcy Bloomers are a success! Thank you ❤

      Thank you so much. My fabric got a lot softer after washing 😅
      I started working on the pattern and i got a question. When overlooking the four sides in step 8: does this include the yoke ? I havent connected the thethe pieces to each other only to the body and in the center but not the sides

    • @MariaJuterud
      @MariaJuterud  6 месяцев назад

      @@_Not_AliceLinen usually does that, haha! It gets a lot softer.
      You should overlock the whole side seam, after the yoke is attached to the leg pieces, and you have sewn the crotch. So if that is done, then you should overlock the 4 sides, if that makes sense, including the sides of the yoke

  • @gloriab7960
    @gloriab7960 Месяц назад

    Question!! I am not too fond of the line in the middle of the yoke and want to make a version without it. I assume that I can cut out the seam allowance form the middle section of it, then with the two of those full frontal pieces, I can sew the front crotch together, then gather in the gathering sections and sandwich that front short between the two whole yoke pieces. Is there something I haven't considered with this alteration? I imagine its harder to make that front yoke as pointy that way, but I'm worried I might've missed something that would complicate things

    • @MariaJuterud
      @MariaJuterud  Месяц назад +1

      @@gloriab7960 hi! I totally understand about the seam in the front. If you want to make it without, you will just have to cut off the sewing allowance at the front like you said, and you can place the pattern piece on a fold when cutting. It will be harder to create the V-shape, that is why I made it into two pieces, but it is definitely possible! Let me know how it works out !

      @@MariaJuterud Just as an update, it is definitely a sharper V using the original method. My theory as to why is that the V point falls right on the french seam I did. I tried to line it up on the seam line/stitch line, it looked crooked. I then ironed down the seam flap and resewed the point to be at the middle of the ironed down french seam flap, this made it look more centered, but because there is so much bulk exactly at the point, its impossible to turn it fully out. However! It is still beautiful and I will post pictures on my lil personal sewing instagram and tag you if you'd like to see :)

  • @christinapalmer96
    @christinapalmer96 23 дня назад

    ALERT!!! If you are using a fabric that is not double sided, you need to cut 1 of the 2 front and back pieces with the pattern facing downward. Or else you'll get two identical pieces that don't fit together properly. Tried this with a pink gingham and when it came time to sew the crotch arch, the wrong sides wouldn't go together.

  • @localsimp5603
    @localsimp5603 Месяц назад

    Hello!! Quick question- what do you mean by sewing the wrong sides together? Just purchased the pattern but I’m having a bit of trouble with the French seam 🥹

    • @MariaJuterud
      @MariaJuterud  Месяц назад +1

      Hi! Usually fabric has a right side and a wrong side, and the wrong side is on the inside of the garment. Usually with normal seams you are going to put right sides together to the wrong is on the inside, but with french seams we are doing two seams instead of one, so we start with the side that is going to be on the inside

    • @MariaJuterud
      @MariaJuterud  7 месяцев назад +8

      It is as affordable as I possibly could make it, it took me about half a year to make. I think it’s a really good price. In Norway all the pattern are a lot more expensive since you have to buy each size individually and almost no one makes sizes over 3XL. So this is a lot better than the standard for my country.
