I’ve found every time I’ve gone to the Arken website, and there’s one I want bad, and I also talked my brother into buying one (he bought the same exact one you mounted on this rifle), but I’ve found every time I’ve gone there so far, they’ve already had 25% off as it is. Wish I could also use this code then I wouldn’t hesitate getting the EP5 I want.
I bought a Caldwell sled when they very first came out because a drunk driver almost severed my neck spine and now I have 2 metal plates in the front and back to hold my neck together😳 but I still am able to shoot and sight in the guns for my 3 sons who hunt each year before the season opens!
300 Weatherby is a good example of a good balanced cartridge. The bullet selection we have today far exceeds what was available when Roy Weatherby bought the 300 out!
I have a Vanguard in the weatherguard chambered in 300 Weatherby. Mine shoots .323 with the 200gr Barnes LRX using H1000. I use it for elk, deer, and bear here in Montana. You will love it.
Had the hunt of a lifetime last year with the same rifle. Shot a cloverleaf like yours with 180 gr Interlocks. The bullets were dead on out to 400 yards. Bullets demonstrated impressive terminal performance.Core locks should be just as impressive. Man what a great hunting rifle. Got to love WBY
Good groups! I got my dad a Vanguard in 300 Wthrby Mag about 20 years ago. It wasn't terrible on recoil. It had the thin 24" barrel. I am curious if it is that much faster than the 300 WM. Maybe next time you shoot groups run it over the chronograph and see what kind of velocities you are getting. Thank you sir. Stay safe out there.
Hell yeah love ur videos brother and love these ones on the Weatherby rifles I'm fixing to get a 300 Weatherby mag myself...have shot the 416 Weatherby magnum before and it was an experience to say the least...keep it up bro
I have a 300wby it has no issue with whitetails here in Tennessee. It will jar your teeth but it holds the same hole at 100 yards with 180gr. I took a deer in the fall at 235 yards. I love mine
I must have been reading too many ballistic charts , if I remember correctly there is a cartridge called the 7.82 Warbird which is supposed to be just a touch faster than the 30-378 Weatherby recording velocities around the 3700 fps with a 150 g bullet , I've just done a quick google search and apparently it uses "undersize plated bullets so is probably more of a target rifle that and Elk or Moose gun . Still plenty of power in the 300 Weatherby and for a first time out with it I think those are pretty good groups and I'm sure the Elk won't notice the difference between a .5" and a .8" group . Thanks WTW , catch You next time , Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well.
The 300 Weatherby has great long range power and flat trajectory, but it kicks like a mule and has serious blast. Most people can't handle it. That's why Roy Weatherby preferred the 270 Weatherby. He even used it in Africa on all sorts of plains game, as well as on everything in North America.
@@WayStedYouit was but he used the 270 wby a lot too as did John Wayne who was a good friend of Roy’s! I know because my old boss was best friend with the Duke and even his executor instead of his sons when Duke died! Roy was way ahead of his time in rifle ballistics🙌
One thing I noticed looking at costs of vanguard rifles, the 300 weatherby and 300 win mag are the same price. I've read articles for years that all say Winchester made the 300 win mag to make an affordable magnum on a standard length action.
20+ years ago, Walmart of all places were selling Vanguards in this caliber along with the same Remington ammo, so i bought one. They didn't have threaded barrels or brakes on them back then, so bench shooting them to get the scope dialed in was a mule kicking shoulder bruiser!
300 Wby Mag is my favorite elk cartridge. I favor the 175 Federal Terminal Ascent, 180 Swift Scirocco II, and 180 Nosler Partition. Norma/ Weatherby Brass, RL 26 (if you can find it), Federal 215M. I built my rifle with a 24” barrel on a Mark V Action. Rifle is sub 1/3 MOA (5 shot group). 1st cold will go from 3,276 (175 Federal Terminal Ascent); (3,254 Nosler Partition); (3,206 Swift Scirocco II). It has never failed exit. It has gone thru both shoulder ball joints, and ribs of a 6X6 bull elk & both shoulder 3/4 scapula shot on a Orxy/Gemsbok). Phenomenal Cartridge. I carried a 300 Win Mag for years. Still love them. However, you don’t have to push the Weatherby to high pressure to get the exceptional performance. Don’ t be surprised if the Remington Ammo chronographs slower than either the Weatherby or Norma factory ammo. Has to with brass thickness and working pressures. Other ammo manufacturers usually load Weatherby Cartridges down due to some non- Weatherby rifles were chambered without the freebore. This protects them legally.
Picked up a used Mark 5 ultralight in 300 weatherby mag, came with the blast enhancement device (aka muzzle brake) and put the Arken EP5 on it. Had to trade a handful of pistols for it, but was a good trade.
Weatherby 300 mag Dangerous Game Rifle of mine will do .38 inch 3 shot groups with the Weatherby Barnes 180 grain TTSX cartridges at 100 yards, Absolutely awesome!
I found some of the factory 300 Weatherby rounds are cheaper than the Rem Core-lokts. Mine liked the 180gr TTSX, which are about the most expensive. Took the stock off because it broke the ejector. Had to send the Swarovski that came on it back to them too. The magnification adjustment was stuck. They fixed it for free. Hopefully It'll shoot the cheaper rounds the best when I get it back together.
I have found over the 60+ years of hunting reloading and collecting rifles the Vanguards shoot better then the Mark5’s do at least in the almost 50+ Weatherbys I have owned over the years!
So funny… I just bought a Weatherby Vanguard First Lite Cipher in 300 Wby. Mag. I also have a MeatEater’s edition 6.5-300 Wby. Mag. And it shoot like a dream! Of course, it has the Meateater Vortex scope on it. Was looking at the same scope you have for my 300 Wby. I also picked up the new Weatherby Model 307 (Meateater Edition) in 7mm PRC. Not sure which scope, but thinking of getting another Vortex LHT 4.5-22 Mil.
I think it’s great when manufacturers realize the sales potential of excellent cartridges. Whether or not it carries the name of another manufacturer, such as Winchester rifles chambered for 7mm-08 Remington, or your Remington 700 in the .300 Weatherby Magnum. Plenty of other such examples, too many to name all of them here. 👍🏼
It will be interesting to see how this one does with reloads and/or testing some of the factory stuff. If it can consistently hit like that first group, wow! Only reason you’d need anything else is to give you a break from the whiplash. Good work!
Check your action screws it’s odd that your group size went from 0.82 to 1.82 that is quite a substantial difference in group sizes… love the videos WHOTEEWHO is the best guntuber that there is no bs

@@WHOTEEWHO Adam, that boolot slinger is probably powerful enough to shoot through one deer and catch another one behind it! Plenty of horsepower for whatever you wanna catch. 👍🏼

That 300 Weatherby is a pretty stout cartridge you got to hold on tight it will leave a scope ring on your eyebrow, personally prefer the 300 Winchester mag but the Weatherby will reach way out there

25% OFF ARKEN optics with code: whoteewho

They are called lead sled, because, in the old days, we put 40 or so pounds of lead shot on the sled. Then it didn't move so much.
In the old days! 😂🤣😂🤣
It still does the job with hard kicking rifles. No reason to punish yourself at the range.
