As a lesbian, I would like to make a little comment about the flag used to represent the community in this video: the one featured (beginning with shades of pink) is a modified version of the lipstick lesbian flag and is generally regarded as less favourable to the new flag which was used in the previous video (it's the 5 striped one starting with red). This is primarily due to the history behind the lipstick lesbian flag and the alternative flag of the same colours. This controversial history being that the creator of the flag was biphobic and strongly opposed to butch lesbians. Generally, the lesbian community has begun to use the new and more accepted flag and I genuinely hope that those who are not part of the lesbian community will do so as well when referencing our flag and/or community. It's an easy mistake to make and I don't hold anything against you or those who are unaware.
just commented something like this before seeing your comment :) im not lesbian myself, but ive done research of many of the pride flags, but learned more from your comment!

Asexual can also be defined as "not feeling sexual attraction towards anyone" (or very low / very rarely). I think this is the most common definition. Which means, asexual people CAN have an interest in sexual activities. They might masturbate, or even have sex with another person. The defining criteria is that they don't experience sexual attraction! So, they basically never think "I wanna have sex with this person". It's all about the attraction / the wish, not about what they do. The majority of aces don't want to have sex, but that doesn't apply to everyone.
@@alastortheradiodemon3735 Well, it just means that someone doesn't experience sexual AND romantic attraction. So again, it's just about attraction. They don't have the desire to date people and to have sex with them, (but that doesn't mean they can't do it.) Romantic attraction can differ from sexual attraction. Like, someone can be aromantic and homosexual, or biromantic and asexual, and so on.
@@alastortheradiodemon3735 romance repulsed aromantics will never ever engage in romantic relations sex repulsed asexuals will never ever engage in sexual relations but we repulsed aroaces are on the far faaaar end of the vast a-spectrum demi sits in the middle, surrounded by greysexual/-romantic, which is basically the grey area between allo and repulsed aro/ace also important sidenote: repulsed aces especially can sometimes be triggered by sexual depictions in any way(when they're not prepared for it) and that can cause panic attacks for some in some situations. so just be careful about that stuff when you know that someone is a repulsed ace. I for example can handle it most of the time, but when someone makes a sexual joke referring to an artist I see as my escape from this hypersexual world I need to take a break from that artist because it's not a safe place anymore until I get that memory detached from it
@@alastortheradiodemon3735 just to help clarify a bit more (since I know this topic very closely), when it comes to the term your looking for, for someone who absolutely doesn't have sex. The most common term would be: Sex-repulsed Asexual Then there's the opposite: Non-sex-repulsed Asexual Hope this gives a bit more clarification than the other person already gave.
There are 94 main ones we cover here but most of them have some less popular designs to describe the same definition. Turns out LGBTQ people really like to design some flags...

My journey is not over and it's just beginning but I want to thank you and the entire LGBT community for helping me and thousands of other people on their journeys.
I’m a recently come out bisexual who is trying to learn more about the community. And I’ve been constantly getting barraged with so many different colors, so I’m glad to have this video
@@Catfan1290 this might seem like a weird question but if people ask what your sexuality is do you say bisexual or polysexual? I feel like I am omnisexual (under the umbrella of bisexual) and i don't think most people know what omni is so I normally tell people I'm bi. idk if that many people know what omnisexuality is so that's why I tend to say bi. idk i'm just still learning but I would like to know what you do!
@@claireify1963Hi. I know it's been 9 months but I would still like to answer. I use the term bisexual even though the term omnisexual fits me better. I use that term simply because most people know that term and most people outside the LGBT community/allies believe there are only two genders. So why confuse those people with a label that they wouldn't recognize the full definition of? I have gotten used to using the term bisexual because that was the first term I learned of when I started my LGBT journey. I know I am technically Omnisexual but if I have that in my bio I'll get even more questions than If I had bisexual there. I like the term bisexual because it fits both in and out of the LGBT community. I can use the term with members and allies of the community and with people who are stuck in the 1960s.
I just wanna say I find this comment very wholesome! Knowing that more and more parents are being supportive of their LGBTQ+ children is great! Knowing that some parents would be low key homophobic, switching from homophobic to supportive in the conversation after coming out, or normal homophobia, or “Get out of this house you disgrace” to their 10 year old type of homophobia. Hopefully we can get more parents to be supportive of their children, no matter what they identify with, and / or who they love. Love is love. Genders can be changed if the person is not comfortable with their current gender.
i really love seeing parents trying to learn more for their children, but please remember that some of this information isn’t correct so be careful :))
I was thinking, "What's the point in having special flags for *every single subgroup*" until I saw this comment section - you feel represented, included and seen. I get it. Celebrate your flags
Personnaly I still feel like they are kind of useless eventhough I know this. On internet I get it somehow, but in real life (at least in my western european country) all lgbt people I know (except one special case) don't even want to feel part of the community or deal with them as they say the ones identifying as part of that community are the most judging, irrespectful, condescending and sectarian people they know... and some even got rejected by members of lgbt+ non profit organisations and clubs because of different ideologies!. (In my oldest group of friends we are litteraly only 3 straight people in an ocean of interconnected lgbt people eventhough my psychiatrist says I'm more of an asexual but I dont want to identify as something else than basic human biologist.)
@@zenymax8348 that sucks. I'm sort of similar in the way that I tend to identify as grey-ace or just ace, but if I was to get really particular I'd say demisexual and aegosexual, but even though these are the labels that fit me the most I don't use them with others. That being said I'm happy they exist because it makes me feel seen. Sometimes if I'm asked I simply go "I don't know". Which isn't at all a lie because my attractions are so infrequent that when I do have a new one I find I'm still learning more things about myself.
It's overkill. The rainbow flag is already all-inclusive. Also, too many people are persuaded by the illusion that symbolic representation is meaningful. No one's lives were ever improved in any measurable way by having a flag. They're lives were improved by winning them their civil rights and a culture that respects them a little more.
@@ems7623 I'm a bit of the same mind. "94" flags...? I'm afraid people won't take the 'community' seriously with all these sub, sub, sub groups, what is or isn't offensive, what is proper or improper. I think I'd need a semester just to learn it all.
This comment section is a supportive mess. Just gonna clarify from what I know as a pansexual: Pansexuality is the attraction to anyone regardless of gender (genderblind) Bisexuality is the attract to 2 OR MORE gender, not explicitly male and female Omnisexuality is the attraction to all gender, but not gender blind (gender is taken into account) Hope this helps!

Non-binary also falls under the trans flag. That’s the white stripe. The trans flag represents people that don’t identify with their gender assigned at birth. Many non-binary will still use the trans for them but others feel a better fit with a more specific flag.

As an about to be sixty year old cisgender female, I pride myself on being roundly educated and believe you are never too old to learn. The fact that a whole new community is being created is wonderful becuz community means being welcomed, feeling safe and loved for who you are. It’s a lot to take in for someone who isn’t familiar and relates to people only by how you treat me. Happy Pride month!

Minnie White for me it is actually whatever I feel like so most of the time people do have to ask me what pronouns I want to go by.But since I am not exactly out of the closet most use my pronouns as she/her but I really don’t mind any. I think that's not really possible. Some represent gender and some sexuality. I don't know how you would arrange them on a 2d grid. Would be cool if someone found a way though.
I think this video is way better than the last one and I really learned a lot! Although I'm bisexual, I never really understood what was going on with all the flags. Thank you for clarification!
Same. Like I had no clue there was a flag that represents someone like me who is bisexuality but prefers to be with a women both romantically and sexually.
Lord Otchere K this is a really unclear comment. If you’re using God to judge the LGBTQ+ community, this is why the community doesn’t think we’re accepting, and isn’t the Bible all about loving God *and* others? If not, I am sorry for interrupting what you were doing, and enjoy your day! Sincerely, a Christian asexual
The pink triangle wasn’t a sign of discrimination, it was a sign of being a gay man who would either just be worked to death, gassed or experimented on. Saying it was just a sign of discrimination really understates the horrors that many gay men had to go through.
True, I imagine he just didn’t wanna go into the nasty details associated with nazis and all the horrific shit they did. This channel isn’t really the place to talk mass atrocities
@@Eliza513E Fair comment. Incidentally, in the late 19th/early 20th century, pink was regarded as a "masculine" colour and blue as a "feminine" colour. (a popular saying around that time was "Pink for a boy, blue for a girl.") I've never been able to confirm it, but I suspect the Nazi brand of the pink triangle was the reason that pink was associated with effeminate or gay men for much of the late 20th century.

One note: Bisexual is an umbrella term that can be described as attraction to both males and females or to more than one gender. Pansexual and Omnisexual both fall under it, but they are not the same. Pansexuals are attracted to all genders regardless or with little regard to that gender; it is not a determining factor. Omnisexuals are attracted to all genders or have the capacity to be attracted to all genders with gender preference. As a flag nerd this was really interesting. Here in Wales over the last few years a version of the LGBT.. flag has been the the red dragon of the Welsh flag on the rainbow flag. Like the South African flag, it's to show the Welsh people's solidarity with LGBTQ+ community. Thanks for the heads-up on the straight pride rag!
Well one thing I get mad about is the stereo type of Christians being homophobics. I'm Christian, Asexual, and gender fluid! My church even did a lgbtq fundraiser! Edit:thanks for the support! And as someone whose grandfather was a pastor, I guess I have quite a bit of knowledge on the Bible. And news flash the Bible never said manshould not sleep with, man or woman should not sleep with woman. The only thing close to that is like father shall not take his children (regardless of gender) and do "it" with them. So in God's eyes we are all valid! (Except for the fake sexualites)
well that's probably because most christians i and others know ARE homophobic/transphobic, tho glad you arent one! personally i have no problem with other religions as long as they have basic respect for others :D
It could be due to the past where most Christians thought of anything lgbtq related as sinful or not abiding by how god created us. It could also be due to the fact there are still many not just Christians but religious people as a whole who can more often than not sadly enough show hate towards the lgbtq community. I myself got lucky with my family bc my family who are majority Christians follow the love and acceptance part very well.
as a non-christian lesbian, i always get upset when someone calls christian people homophobic...Just because someone is christian that doesn't mean they're Homophobic.

23:10 Interestingly, South Africa is already known as "The Rainbow Nation" due to the unity of various culture and ethnic groups in the country (the six colours country's flag represents that in a way as well). Seeing an ACTAUL rainbow flag for the "Rainbow Nation" always makes me crack a smile.
Well, we listen to our fans' suggestions. When you all have great ideas, we listen because this is your channel too. Happy pride month everyone! To anyone reading this. You are beautiful by being you! You don't have to change to impress anyone (except if your homophobic. You need to change your views because Imma be honest, your hating on someone because of someone they love and not who they are and it doesn't affect you at all and homophobia now less acceptable than being lgbtqa and good for that) 😘😘😘
Thanks, i really, really needed this right now. Life is stressful you know? Im at the stage in life where i don't know anything. Where i seem useless. Where i don't fit in with any group, because i am my own person and nobody understands. Where my body is changing and it's confusing. Where I'm suddenly expected to be "responsible" for everything that goes on Where dreams and others words haunt you. Where you stay up at night, because the moon seems like better company than talking to "friends" that "know you so well". Where you wonder about everything. So, thank you. This really helped alot.
Also did the gay pride flag released alongside it not liked aswell because its only in a few lists
just commented something like this before seeing your comment :) im not lesbian myself, but ive done research of many of the pride flags, but learned more from your comment!

And Aromatic Asexual is when you ABSOLUTELY DONT want sexual relations right?
@@alastortheradiodemon3735 Well, it just means that someone doesn't experience sexual AND romantic attraction. So again, it's just about attraction. They don't have the desire to date people and to have sex with them, (but that doesn't mean they can't do it.)
Romantic attraction can differ from sexual attraction. Like, someone can be aromantic and homosexual, or biromantic and asexual, and so on.
@@sailorcat Oh ok thanks for clarifying for me!
@@alastortheradiodemon3735
romance repulsed aromantics will never ever engage in romantic relations
sex repulsed asexuals will never ever engage in sexual relations
but we repulsed aroaces are on the far faaaar end of the vast a-spectrum
demi sits in the middle, surrounded by greysexual/-romantic, which is basically the grey area between allo and repulsed aro/ace
also important sidenote:
repulsed aces especially can sometimes be triggered by sexual depictions in any way(when they're not prepared for it) and that can cause panic attacks for some in some situations. so just be careful about that stuff when you know that someone is a repulsed ace.
The most common term would be: Sex-repulsed Asexual

I use the term bisexual even though the term omnisexual fits me better.
I use that term simply because most people know that term and most people outside the LGBT community/allies believe there are only two genders.
So why confuse those people with a label that they wouldn't recognize the full definition of?
I have gotten used to using the term bisexual because that was the first term I learned of when I started my LGBT journey.
I know I am technically Omnisexual but if I have that in my bio I'll get even more questions than If I had bisexual there.

The pink triangle wasn’t a sign of discrimination, it was a sign of being a gay man who would either just be worked to death, gassed or experimented on.
Saying it was just a sign of discrimination really understates the horrors that many gay men had to go through.

Incidentally, in the late 19th/early 20th century, pink was regarded as a "masculine" colour and blue as a "feminine" colour. (a popular saying around that time was "Pink for a boy, blue for a girl.")

Omni it’s not a synonym for pansexuality. Pansexual’s are blind or mostly blind to gender. Omni sexual are able to see gender and sometimes have a different opinions about different people when it comes to gender but still like all genders.
Typically Omnisexuals prefer one gender over the rest, whereas pansexuals are blind to the gender factor and like all genders equally.
It's important to say that pansexual/romantic people CAN have a preference in gender, but that would be a preference and not a requirement
I am an Omnisexualwith a preference of women

There can be an unlimited amount of genders. Genders depend on what gender the person feels like. Sex just has 3, those being Male, Female, and Intersex, which is basically just what genitals you have. Sex can be changed, by taking estrogen or testosterone.
Gender isn’t a spectrum, it’s an n-dimensional hyper cube! And it can vary along a spectrum in any of its infinite directions.

In what way does someone’s sexual identity truly affect you, especially a person online who you know absolutely nothing about? Just curious.
One note:
Bisexual is an umbrella term that can be described as attraction to both males and females or to more than one gender.
Pansexual and Omnisexual both fall under it, but they are not the same. Pansexuals are attracted to all genders regardless or with little regard to that gender; it is not a determining factor.
Omnisexuals are attracted to all genders or have the capacity to be attracted to all genders with gender preference. Gender is a factor in the attraction for an Omnisexual and could be a determining factor.

Also christian, pan, and um confused about gender
well that's probably because most christians i and others know ARE homophobic/transphobic, tho glad you arent one! personally i have no problem with other religions as long as they have basic respect for others :D
It could be due to the past where most Christians thought of anything lgbtq related as sinful or not abiding by how god created us. It could also be due to the fact there are still many not just Christians but religious people as a whole who can more often than not sadly enough show hate towards the lgbtq community. I myself got lucky with my family bc my family who are majority Christians follow the love and acceptance part very well.
this is very wholesome
as a non-christian lesbian, i always get upset when someone calls christian people homophobic...Just because someone is christian that doesn't mean they're Homophobic.
The video was awesome and super informative! But,, Omnisexual actually isn’t a synonym to Pan. It’s someone who is attracted to all genders no matter the gender (like pan) but do have a preference (like bi) so they aren’t pan nor bi
Omnisexual is a microlable for some bisexuals
A better explanation imo is an omnisexual person is attracted to every gender because of the gender as opposed to pansexuals who are gender blind
but bisexuality includes nonbinary genders
@@dezzydream i mean, im bisexual and im only attracted to men and women. im pretty sure it only includes those because bi means two- 2 genders. as opposed to pansexuals and omnisexuals who are attracted to all genders.

26:17 thats actually not true, let me put some homophobic pride flags up:(explanations after) 23:47, 22:07, 4:33, 2:38
