I really like this car. For someone who wants a manual, rwd, naturally aspirated, low center of gravity sports car that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to purchase, (or maintain), its the best choice on the market right now. Sure there are faster out there, but there will always be faster no matter what you buy. Too me simplicity is paramount to a true sportscar.

  • @J_S209
    @J_S209 11 месяцев назад +3

When I first saw an MX5 in 1989 I loved them. Three years ago I was shopping for a new car for my sister and we visited a Mazda dealership … MX5 in cherry red was sitting in the showroom (my sister bought a Skoda which has been a great car and purchase) … it was just too impractical.
When the BRZ first arrived I just loved the look of the detail of the car. Early in 2023 I first saw a second gen BRZ on the road and by chance I saw one in a car park about a month later. The idea grew! Short of it is after two visits to a dealer and lots of yes no yes no I took a blue demo car for a drive. In less than three kilometres I knew. Order has been placed. Funny thing is I’ve only seen about 5 of these cars on the road and not one GR86 but last week saw a silver one parked … the fine detail of these cars is amazing.
Manual, white, Ts. Will not be modified. Will be kept simple. It’s about the driving and the machine. I always suspected I’d own a Soobie one day.

@@Align700nitrothe GT300 car has always used a EJ. All Subaru race cars use EJ20 (WRC cars, the GT300 cars, their Nürburgring attempt cars, their endurance race cars, their isle of man car, the US rally cars, etc) because it's the best engine for race applications. The platform has the most R&D and mass money already invested behind it. The parts, supply chains, R&D, etc is already there, and it's already race proven. These are highly specialist EJ engines, built for the sole purpose of racing. The other engines they use are EJ2.3 etc for some of the US cars that Vermont have made also, for hoonigan etc. Like I said, EJ platform has like 30 years behind it (including in professional motorsport). The FA platform stock vs stock is a better engine, but the EJ is better to build for legitimate race applications and always will be, since cars are moving away from petrol. So the poor FA will never get the same chance and racing investment behind it that the EJ did.

Agreed. Cost of the s2k aside, at this point, the only major benefit of the s2k over this new brz is that its a convertible but if you are a performance/track guy, you wouldn't want a convertible's body flex so thats mainly a preference thing.
The other minor benefit(some will argue that its major but this is from a stock-to-stock perspective as modified cars have too many variables) and that is:
S2K has a more reliable factory engine still, the RTV issue is still present but apparently not as bad as the 1st gen and engine oil starvation issues. But im sure that if subaru/toyota doesn't fix it soon, the aftermarket will(and do it better im sure).

It's awesome you're still doing this car. I just really don't like it's front end redesign... looks too simple. I'm sorry. The old more radical old headlights rule. These look cool too but they look too much like everything else on the road right now. :/

    Dear Subaru Managers,
Im sorry to tell, but u crapped up.
Yes its a beautiful car and handling is fine.
BUT THE ENGINE IS CRAP (quality wise) AND OUTDATED. IF AT LEAST U WOULD IMPLENT A 2.0 TURBO ENGINE WHICH WOULD USE LESS FUEL AND GIVE WAY MORE POWER.
BUT INSTEAD ITS AN 30 YEARS OLD OUTBACK ENGINE WITH LITTLE TWEAKS. Just take a look at oil pressure gauge... oh yes u left it out, so the consumer does not see how bad the circulation is...
Im sure that are enough drivers out there that would pay extra for a good engine bc it would be worth.
    SUBARU HAS LOST EUROPE ...
No one buys them anymore around here for some reasons.
NOT TO MENTION THE POOR PAINT AND RUST PREVENTION...
( 2012 Forester shs was bad, 2018 outback even worse)
    U can do better...

Not quite. Toyota provided most of the funding, the port+direct injection system, and did most of the styling (and a Toyota supplier did the transmission). The vast majority of the critical components (engine, suspension layout, chassis) was done by Subaru's engineers. The suspension is heavily related to the Impreza WRX.
