I always thought it was fitting that the key fob is coffin-shaped. It's where my batteries go to die.
So many batteries. Not a sustainable fob.
A tech told me that motion on the fob triggers communication with the vehicle. So in theory, if you’re walking around with the key fob in your pocket you’re constantly draining the 2032 battery as it tries to communicate with the Ocean. I suppose driving has a similar effect since you’re constantly moving and jostling around.
As a hack I remove the battery from the key fob when not in use. Not sure if that really does much. And it is a minor annoyance.
Love ur fisker content Adam! Yesterday i spoke with a fisker rep after an hour wait on the 844#, a mobile tech, and a service center manager. All 3 confirmed that the mobile techs are only servicing oceans that are not drivable and not safe to drive. My minor issues (air vents, front blinker) will not be serviced by a mobile tech at this time and the parts are on back order. 2/3 confirmed that service is now legally owned be the dealership partners. The dealerships will soon be able to sell and service all fisker oceans. I took this as great news because i live in Los Angeles and there are a few dealership partners close to me that will be able to service oceans soon!
But say a dealership has 200 for sale. Typical EVs don't need a lot of service so they will be servicing their BMWs, Audis, VWs. Then, finally their first Ocean comes in, they service it. Then it's a long time before the next one comes in, and the 3rd. Then they decide it's just not worth it to keep up with the knowledgebase or training new hires on the Ocean. So, I don't really see this as something that will continue. There will be some that will, The Fisker King in PA. He services and has been servicing the Karma. And I think I know 4 others that do to lesser degrees than the Karma King. Plus I see the dealerships selling the Ocean as purely interested in sales. They probably have an incentive to sell them, which is fine, but do they have an incentive to service them or training?
My FOO is not drivable, since March 26, due to brake failure alert. I spoke to support yesterday , they said no more mobile tech service anymore, because they have service centers. I was told to take it to the closest center (dealer) in Sacramento, about 200 miles away. On my own. No reimbursement, no rental. Take it or leave it,

Now THAT is insane. And this will, eventually, happen to every Ocean owner, at some point. And now would be when it is most fixable. Think about 5-6 years from now when there might not be a service center. There might be "some" places like The Fisker King in Pennsylvania that services the Fiker Karma but he is one of maybe 5-6 in the entire US and that puts the distance, potentially much further away than your current 200 miles away. And, is roadside assistance still available, or because your Ocean is in your garage it does not count. Roadside assistance was supposed to get you an alternative vehicle, get your Ocean towed, and then return it to you. I think it was even supposed to provide lodging. Maybe you should have had it towed to a shopping center and called for Fisker roadside assistance. Not that you would get through to them and then would they honor your roadside assistance or would they decline it. In this video we see that Fisker did not honor this Ocean owners rental, so this is FULLY a mess.
They have shifted the entire Debt of 1.3 Billion to the Austrian subsidary. The Inc. will continue to exist without debt. The Debt is parked in the Austrian Fisker GmbH and this company will be the one to restructure.

It’s a fact. They show a debt of 1.36 Billion in the first issue of the insolvency proceedings.

I'm not a lawyer, but I thought last minute games like this are illegal. The bankrupcy court has the power to invalidate the $1.3B transfer of debt as it damages the Austrian creditors. Perhaps the complex international operations can get away with it. I suspect many people will be sucked into court to make sense of and attempt to get something out of what is left.
@@Aslash304 Unfortunately, this information is not openly available. So, i can not share a link. But it is confirmed that the company has a debt of 1,34 Billion EUR in their books. And thats more or less the full fisker debt.

Also a thing to consider and think of... Fisker does not have a single spare part. All the parts were ordered, managed and delivered from and to Magna Steyr. Magna has confirmed that they have parts in stock for approx 100 new cars. The rest is sitting with their suppliers as they run a very tight "Just in time" system.
This is a tricky one. I assume, with the very fast Manufacuring provided by Magna, that the mechanical and electrical parts are sourced and not manufactured from scratch. I would hope those parts are on some of their other builds, the Jaguar iPace and Mercedes G Wagons that they also produce. So, the source of these parts should be able to be found, perhaps are a local AutoZone maybe not by telling them you have a Fisker Ocean but telling them you have a Jaguar iPace and you walk out with a part that fits your Ocean. But it's still a very tricky mess.

@@darkmuspell Well, at this point, for me, it doesn't matter as I decided against the purchase. I was close, very close, actually the day I was handing the money over to buy an Ocean I stopped and had to say sorry. I test drove it, loved it, but I can just see an issue and there will, at some point, be an issue with every car. So, I can just see me stuck on the road and having to have it towed. Where in the world will I have to have it towed. I do think there will be some that take on servicing the Ocean as there are some that service the Karma but that will be a long distance tow and a wait in line for service at a cost that can't be calculated at this point. And it will take time for those that will service it to figure it out. So, if your Ocean breaks down sooner rather than later you might have to keep the Ocean in storage till someone says "OK, I got it figured out".

On version 2.0 > Pros and Cons. I'm in a weird "love/hate" situation with the FOO. Pros: Wife commutes 70+ miles a day and loves the drive and range. It's comfortable, suspension is soft, it's fast, loves the design and loves listening to her podcasts. Cons: Service sucks, software sucks, 3/4 vents broken, broken air flaps, charging pads don't work correctly, bluetooth connectivity drops, rear right light always on, overhead console fan always on and the cherry on top...shitty key fob! I wont mention I'm down $30k on the stock... oh wait... i just did.

I swear within a year someone is gonna run their Fisker like its a gaming pc and make completely custom software based on linux.
Look at what a community did with Skyrim, its a decade old yet modded into something that looks better than AAA titles from giant Studios.

I just called Fisker maintenance for my rear seat lights and mirror fan issue... they surprisingly picked up the phone right away with 0 minute hold. Said lights are a hardware issue which they will either ship it to my house or have a tech bring it over while the fan issue is software issue and that they'd look into fixing (whatever that means). Supposedly tech should be out next week-ish... we'll see how that turns out. It's crazy how everyone's getting a different answer from Fisker... although the rep did mention because I'm in Pasadena (So Cal) techs are more readily available but I saw below someone else from LA mention they're not dealing w any minor issues... I guess it's a good representation of the mess they're in...

I insured my Ultra for $1100 a year through Amica. That includes the all important Gap coverage as well….

You can pay monthly, as most people do, but you are locked into a rate for the year and at your yearly renewal, THAT is when the shit hits the fan and they raise your rates based on accidents, tickets, claims. Or, as in my case with no accidents, no claims, no tickets they just raise the rates 25% just for the fun of it.
Between your Model Y and the Ocean, which insurance is less?
The Ocean is cheaper at the moment. But the model Y cost $20,000 more new.
@@Aslash304 the Y.. cost more .. and it is 100% sure to have support and warranty till end of its warranty. and great software support and updates.
With the same person (i.e. accident history), insurance costs are typically based on the normal vehicle cost with some factor on likelihood of theift and cost to repair. So in a normal situation, the cost of two cars if the MSRP were about the same, the insurance rates should be similar.
With the major Fisker discounting, that should reduce the Fisker insurance costs on those new purchases. It could also mean minor accidents are not repairable (no service/parts availability) and will cause the car to be totaled. With such low volume, I suspect many insurers will not be aware of the issues and will continue to issue policies at a reasonable cost, but perhaps based on MSRP and not the highly discounted price. It will take at least 6 months to sort out.

Not sure about the insurance con. All sorts of one of one vehicles are on the road with no issues. I mean, Pontiacs are everywhere still. I had a Smart car for 2 years with cheap insurance. There are no Smart dealers in Canada. As long as all Fisker owners maintain clean driving record (no accidents), you guys may have cheaper insurance than Teslas pretty soon.

I drive a Pontiac, 1972 50th Anniversary Trans Am. Many many of the Pontiac models had very high production numbers. In fact the Trans Am/Firebird for 1970-76 I believe even shared parts with the Chevy Camaro. So, parts are easily available and continue to be manufactured for the many cars that demand those parts. Even though there are no Smart dealers in Canada there are enough Smart cars that were produced to make parts profitable enough to be produced. It will be supply and demand for sure.

Fsker Inc. should declare Bankruptcy already so that gets bought out. The Noteholder is making a freaking drama out of this and nobody is going to buy. If they execute Ch 11 the Noteholder will get paid and can walk away provided they get a buyer.

Who in his right mind would buy an Ocean now? Sure the price is down. But the SW is buggy...real buggy. No parts and no service and no further SW updates. If you change your mind, the Ocean cannot be traded in. Upon delivery of a new Ocean, you lose $15k in value. Soon, no insurer will offer coverage. What then?

I couldn’t find any direct information on the auditor. An auditor was assigned on the shorting operation, though it seems their financial statements are unaudited. I expect their Austria division is in talks with Magna, since their manufacturing contract is now in default. Fisker can’t allow another bankruptcy filing, they’ll be finished.
Rich Rebuilds bought a Fisker and says you can search for parts on Alibaba or other web sources.

Thanks for sharing this! Rich took a test drive, and compared the quality of the driver’s display to something you buy on Alibaba. He said that once the cars are $25k he will consider it, once they are $20k he’s all in. The one he test drove was over $40k. Thanks again for your input

I have progressive insurance. I do question what will happen if a headlight goes out 🫣

try to get in touch with Magna cause they will know for sure who is the supplier.
Or look for a brand inside it - usually a Bosch or Hella part or if it is the LED / driver ask an electrician to check it .
But that should not be the case, rather the glas might crack.
Not cheap at all regardless what but for sure doable cause for the Fisker Karma they had found solution for an even far smaller fleet of about 2500 vehicles also produced in Europe, I guess finnland or sweden.
But at the end it should be possible once you have figured out the brand and part number which is usually printed on the back and quite often in the glas somewhere on the side.
A curious predicament in the event that it occurs
