I just leased a Prologue. I'm 65, so growing pains understanding all this technology and still haven't even figured out the charging. But I needed a car without a catalytic converter so I could leave it parked on the street (Los Angeles is competing to be catalytic theft capital of the world). I also have an old jeep and a Sprinter I use for work, so I was interested in finding the best deal for the money. My local Honda dealer gave me a crazy deal on a Touring awd (reasonable drive-off and $200 mo for 24) so I could not resist. I haven't had it long enough to have a strong opinion, but so far so good. Not a rocket from a stop (but who cares, I'm 65), not exactly exhilarating to drive (but who cares, i'm 65), and not exactly a chic magnet (you know what I'm going to say), but it's only 2 years, right? Nothing beats my old Wrangler in my eyes, but it will be nice to drive something with a backup camera and some other fun things. By the way, that phone charging box is hit or miss with my iphone 14. Not sure why.
Hey Adam, it's been quite a ride. I got my Fisker about a week after you took delivery of yours and today (Memorial Day) I traded it (an Ultra) for a Blazer EV RS. They gave me $28,000 for the Fisker with no fuss and the Blazer had a $4,200 discount plus an Ultiam Promise Bonus cash of $7,500 bringing the cost down to $42,895 plus tax, license, etc versus the $53,000 for the Fisker. It was harder to get the On Star Ap. to work than it was to buy the car even with the sales lady's help and having to call On Star and go through multiple agents and repetitive steps to get it to work. The dealer said he would ship the Fisker to Orange County, CA rather than mess with it here in Paso Robles, CA.
Congrats! The Blazer is an awesome choice, and it sounds like you got a great deal. I also had a very hard time setting up OnStar. Thanks so much for sharing this!
Thanks… how to deal with plugs. I have the Hlink and OnStar and credits with EVGo. Yet, I since I live in an apartment with a landlord who will not allow home charging has left me to public chargers that don’t always match my plug. So, far as plugs, chargers, and public stations, which is the best, fastest for the Prologue?
The prologue charges slowly, it won’t matter too much. This video will answer you questions ruclips.net/video/v8fzyVfuw7E/видео.htmlsi=juTyOpdS20pu4svD
“2025” is the official answer. However, there has been a pretty serious delay in the rollout for everyone, including those who should have already been mailed adapters. As of now, the Prologue isn’t integrated into the network. My best guess is 12+ months
I think getting the Prologue over the Blazer EV was the right choice. Having more options for infotainment is always the way to go. And to be honest, I give the Prologue better styling points over the RS and base trim Blazer. Although, the Blazer makes a comeback with the SS styling, which isn't available at the time of this video.
I also think the SS will be better looking, and obviously have more personality and performance. But the Prologue has CarPlay and is a good looking SUV, even among the ICE competitors. Excellent feedback!
Great video. I am curious how knowledgeable the Honda techs are on this vehicle. FYI Honda is also building a battery plant and planning to make EVs in Ontario Canada. I am hopeful about their future products. I had a 2009 Civic Hybrid that was problem free. A friend’s kids are still driving it to this day with the original battery pack.
Are all the vehicles that you are comparing the Honda Prologue to AWD vehicles? AWD gets less range compared to the 2WD(FWD) Honda Prologue Touring(Which I own) and can get over 300 mile range (When I charged it to 100% it gave me a 307 mile range)
Yes. 75% of EV configurations are AWD. Is this your first EV? I think you’ll find that the 20 miles of range difference is extremely insignificant, unless you have a 300 mile round trip commute. Charging speed is much more important on a road trip, and a 5-10% difference in daily range is statistically insignificant. Finally, I did a road trip where I averaged 40 mph in my AWD configuration, and the next day my range estimate was 280 miles at 80% charge. The “mileage” calculation in the bottom left corner of your drivers display is merely a mathematical calculation of your range based on the miles per kWh of your last few trips.
I got a $7500 Honda Discount. My Prologue was manufactured in January, so it did not qualify for the tax credit. Only Prologues manufactured after February 26th are eligible. Anticipating this, Honda offered a $7500 incentive to those units that couldn’t get the credit. The Prologue touring is $56,995.
This video is like a bitter breakup song with Fisker. It’s a good video and I enjoyed the cathartic jabs at the ocean. I test drove a Blazer EV and it was all around okay. The only real bad feature was the back seat where you can feel the plastic on your lower back. I’d recommend everyone give the back seat a try. I was concerned about the horsepower but it seemed adequate, although I do wonder about passing while going uphill. I think of the Ultium group, if you aren’t trying to trade in a Fisker, the slightly smaller Equinox EV might be the way to go.
@@Aslash304 No, but when I went to test drive the Blazer the saleskid (spent most of the drive on his phone, fine with me really) said they’d be getting an Equinox in this week. I’m seeing people posting their purchases in Reddit now so I know some people are buying. I’m probably going for the 2025 Ioniq5 refresh, but since that’s not going to happen for a while I’m still checking out the options
I'm curious about the Google navigation and how well it manages longer trips. In my Polestar it does a generally good job, but they do appear to be missing some stations and labels others incorrectly as non-compatiable. Also, it really overestimates consumption. I aim to get to a charger with around 10% and it invariably gets me there with at least 10% more than that.
This has most of the features I wish the CR-V Sport Hybrid would come with. I don’t do many long range trips, home to my dad and DC are probably the longest journeys and Pittsburgh the third longest of my journeys from Morgantown. I just worry about the aspect of charger accessibility and having access to charge on the road. WV not really built for it and most of the chargers in town that are plentiful are Tesla chargers with a limited amount of Blink and other branded chargers at dealerships.
Can you charge at home? If you can, you won’t need to worry about charging in Morgantown, you’d be charging near Pittsburgh if you drive north, or Friendsville, Frostburg and Cumberland if you drive east. Or Cambridge, Wheeling, Parkersburg or Charleston if you drive towards Ohio or Kentucky. Or Sutton, Summersville or Beckley if you drive south. Download the app “PlugShare.” It’s the best way to learn about chargers and charging.
I absolutely love your videos. You are clearly fair to every brand out there and state the facts. I'm from Norway and I own 2 EV's. One is a Peugeot e-2008 and the other one is Maxus euniq6. Yeah that Maxus is from China and I absolutely love it. Looking forward to more videos from you.🥳
Since the Qi Wireless charging works every time that’s a super upgrade to the Honda Wireless Charging as we turo’d a late model Honda Accord Hybrid and that thing barely worked! I think the GM wireless CarPlay is probably an upgrade too as the Honda we had was better but sometimes never worked!!
Hi there! I’m thinking of leasing a Prologue Touring 2WD for commuting. It’ll be my first electric vehicle, and I’m a loyal Honda customer. I have an HRV and a Passport before that, and I generally like Honda cars. But here’s the thing: since it’s a GM collaboration, I have some concerns about Honda quality. And most importantly, I’m worried about charging. I’ve heard that it can take a while and, in some cases, even be expensive. I saw your video about using Tesla super chargers with an adapter, and that idea really got me excited but read a comment that Honda could void your battery warranty. Is that true?I have Tesla chargers nearby, so it would be easy to use them. The only problem is that I live in a condo, so I can’t install a charger at home. I’m a first-time EV user and a Honda customer, so I’d really appreciate your honest opinion. I’m curious to know what you think about Honda’s/GM interior design for EVs.
Would you think a pre-owned 2022 BMW IX50 would have been a better purchase if you had the OCEAN EXTREME/ONE? I'm considering it but HONDA seems a step down from the extreme in terms of performance. Of course the software seems WAAYYYYY better on Honda.
For some it will be having CarPlay. Others the styling. Lots of people will see Honda and think it’s a Honda. I like the screens a lot better on the Blazer but the I like the boring but pleasingly normal styling on the outside of the Prologue better. Maybe they’ll like the exciting name. “What will we call it? How about “Prologue” because this what we’re doing before we actually make an electric car. Fine, whatever. Who cares.”
None of those ranges are accurate. I’ll never get EPA range for any EV because of where I live. The EPA range ratings are just a way to compare one to the other.
At least it wasn't built by Toyota with their lackluster engineering regarding EVs. I poo-poo the price and build but you convince me they made a good decision for the time being.
I paid 26 g's for my ocean & have had no issues with it. How my much did you pay for that honda? Just joking, it looks nice, but I would rather have the ocean at the moment lol maybe a couple years down the road. Or I'll wait for the honda to file for bankruptcy & pay half price lol
Yes. If nothing ever happened to the car, and I could continue to be guaranteed to get service, and my 12v didn’t die, making the car undrivable until a service tech recalibrated it, and I consistently had extensive and massively impactful news to break regarding the vehicle specifically, then yes. Right now, I can continue to report on the company without the risk of losing everything on the car. And, frankly, I was so embarrassed to drive it that I would eventually lose motivation to repot on it. There will be folks that leave the channel because they are Ocean owners specifically looking for information on the car, not the company. But, if I consistently report on the newest available EV to own, the audience should be broader than just Ocean Owners who require their reporting to be done by a current, not past owner. Then again, it could all come crashing down, and I would be forced to go back to detailing more cars.
The Honda is a great choice! It’s luxurious, reliable, and is a tried and true brand. It has way better features and technology than the Ocean, that’s for sure. Love your videos, Adam! Great job! Keep them coming!
