    I test drove the the Blazer EV AWD, I think it was the RS trim, it had all the bells and whistles that I’d like. Every thing was at least okay, except I found that back seat, same in your Honda, to be uncomfortable due to the plastic for the car seats. The rearview mirror, maybe the same in your Honda, was very small and I’m not sure I’d like the camera view as it was harder on my eyes ( 57 years old) and the mirror view didn’t seem as “bright” as a normal mirror. Probably the only thing I like better on the blazer than the Honda is the screen. The screen on the Honda looks outdated while the huge screen in the Blazer is impressive. I’m attracted to the boring normal appearance/ function of the Prologue. Normal door handles, simple charge port, normal exterior design, normal climate controls, normal steering wheel controls and a good customizable instrument cluster. Oh and CarPlay is nice. I’ve investigated the connected services with the Blazer and if you are leasing it’s fine but if you want it for the lifetime you might want to look into the cost.

    Good luck with your new car.
    As for L1 charging you are wasting electricity. I don't know the cost to install a 240v plug in the US. In EU all plugs are 240. I own a PHEV with a 10.7kWh batery. I calculated that if I would daily fully recharge with a wallbox at 3.7kW instead of 2.3kW, the 1k install fee for the box would break even after 2.5 or 3 years. And this just from the charging losses, I don't really care about time saving as typically it's overnight while I m sleeping.
    I advise you to look at the math and physics, and maybe do a video about it.

    I think You have a high risk tolerance for pain. They won't go bankrupt but this is a first Gen product in a new category. There's bound to be some growing pains and your still in essence a beta tester. I'll contribute to watch the stuff though

    • @jimross3
      @jimross3 24 дня назад +1

      I read this a lot, but this view simply ignores all the foundational experience GM obtained over years building prior products, such as the Chevy Bolt. Even if you could say the Bolt was a first Gen product (it wasn't), owners really enjoyed their Bolts, I never saw a lot of talk of feeling like first Gen beta testers. It feels especially unfair to keep pushing this tired trope in 2024 with the Prologue.

He said as much on one of his previous videos that he's not gonna get a cookie cutter ev. @@JamaicanMeCrazy Owners also loved the Nissan Leaf at the time, and those early adopters were the types to know what they were getting into. It was built from technology available at the time and had understandable limitations. It was new and different, and that alone brought excitement, among other things. I can see where your coming from, however it feels like feedback from actual owners is better feedback than from us speculating here, and Cadillac Lyriq owners seem overall happy with their purchase. That backs up that the Ultium platform can be great. The Hummer EV itself was simply a product the world didn't need, there's not a problem inherent in the platform.

    I’m just really curious why anyone would buy this when there are better choices like an EV6, Ioniq 5, Model Y, VW ID.4, etc.
    The Prologue is too heavy, underpowered, overpriced, slow charging, pretty cramped and doesn’t have any particular great features that would make me buy it over the aforementioned vehicles. The Blazer RS AWD I drove was a complete dog. Nearly 3 tons of weight with 288HP doesn’t feel even remotely powerful enough and I only averaged 3mi/kWh in city driving vs. 3.8-4mi/kWh in an AWD EV6 or Model Y on the exact same route.

    • @Aslash304
      @Aslash304  14 дней назад

      Thanks for your feedback. If you were looking for an answer: Wireless CarPlay is nice, obviously not available on the Tesla. It weighs more than the Tesla and EGMP because it’s physically bigger. As far as room, it’s almost the same as the other competitors in every dimension. If you’re looking for power, it’s not fast, but if the Prologue is a dog, then what are gasoline SUVs? Also, the insurance is almost half the cost of my previous Model Y at the most competitive provider. So, horsepower negates spending power. Finally, the Model Y is a 4 year old design, the Ioniq 5 is three years old. The EV6 refresh is the only one of the cars you mentioned that has an updated look, and it could be argued that it’s not very significant as far as changes. The 2024 Ioniq 5 AWD EPA ratting is 99MPGe, the 2024 Kia EV6 AWD is 96 MPGe, the 2024 ID.4 AWD MPGe is 102 MPGe, and the Prologue AWD is 95 MPGe. Apples to apples, the efficiency is extremely competitive. How far did you drive the Prologue to get that efficiency rating? And we all know the Tesla is better than all of them by about 20%. So, there you have it. It’s new. All New. And, because of that, it’s got a cost premium. This is the automotive industry. The new one costs extra, but may not be a whole lot better, and is likely a newer look of the same thing. And if you’re actually curious as to why I myself did it, they took my Fisker Ocean on a trade for $25,000. A value cannot be estimated for this.

    • @fields1
      @fields1 14 дней назад

      @@Aslash304 I roadtrip frequently and the Ultium 85kWh pack is one of the slowest charging cars this side of a Mach-E. While the Y, EV6 and Ioniq 5 may have come 2-4 years ago, I’d argue their technology under the skin is a large leap above the Honda/Chevy models. The Prologue has less trunk space than a Model Y (25cu. Ft vs. 30.2 in Y) and it has an inch less front legroom and basically the same rear legroom as an EV6. All of that extra overall length seems to be wasted outside of the cabin.
      Compared to an EV6 AWD or Ioniq 5 AWD, the Blazer/Prologue is slower 0-60mph by almost 2s in actual testing. That’s a substantial difference. The Prologue is slower than a 4-cylinder BMW X3 and last generation Honda Pilot which had less power and torque. Similarly priced gas crossovers weigh less than the Prologue and have about the same amount of power. I just feel like GM really missed the mark with all of these vehicles. For it to be the last models to come on sale but have really poor DC charging speeds (20-80% in 35 minutes is almost exactly double the time an EV6/Ioniq 5 can do 10-80% and about 9 minutes slower than a Model Y). It also has the least amount of power and torque, weighs the most, and IMO is priced way too high. I just don’t really see this being very competitive. I think that’s why we aren’t seeing any of these GM/Honda EVs sell in large numbers. I’ve seen two Blazer EVs in the last 6 months. By comparison I’ve probably seen 6 Oceans.
      I would rather wait for a 2025 Ioniq 5 or EV6 or deal with the inconvenience of plugging my phone in for CarPlay. The Prologue Elite should have come with the 102kWh battery and had 350-400HP to be competitive. With how cheap you can find EV6 GT-Line AWD or even full fat GTs available, (high-30s to mid-40s) I think they are just a much better option.
      Hopefully Honda’s first foray into EVs they develop in-house will be more relevant. Launching a model this late with these specs just seems pretty lazy.
      I drove the Blazer RS AWD on the same exact route I drove my EV6 GT and a Model Y LR AWD which was around 15 miles of city driving. I put 19” wheels on my GT and it now averages mid-4mi/kWh in city driving and around 3.2mi/kWh at 78mph. The Blazer only got 3.0mi/kWh in town which is worse than my GT was on 21” wheels on that same route. For it being so much less powerful and also being the most recent model to go on sale in this class, I expected it to do at least as well (if not better) than the EV6 or Y. I also had a ton of issues with the software. The screen froze on me 3 times and the only way to get it to reboot was getting out of the car, locking the doors and then getting back in a few minutes later. The dealership employees were clueless. I have sat in the Prologue but I haven’t driven one. I really don’t see a need to when the specs are basically copy and pasted from the Chevy models it shares nearly every component with. Based on the tests I’ve seen online the results seem to be about what I got from the Blazer… 250 mile projected range and 3mi/kWh.

    • @Aslash304
      @Aslash304  14 дней назад

      Some people want the one that nobody sees. Ultium is slow charging. If you road trip frequently, this is not the car to get. My model y charged super quick, but had rattles from purchase, the Prologue doesn’t. I’ll test the efficiency in an upcoming video. Prologue has moderate size pano roof, and more range than every car you mentioned except the EV6 AWD (1 mile more). At the end of the day, a 400 mile trip will take you an extra 10-15 minutes, it’s almost exactly the same size inside as the competition, and just a little bit bigger on the outside. And nobody has one. And it’s really slow. And I mean really slow. If 0-60 is a make or break, then run far far away. If you want the rarest car mentioned in your comparison (even more rare than a Fisker Ocean), then the Prologue is it. I’ll also be happy to race you in your EV6 GT, you can floor it, and I can gently accelerate. How much is the insurance on your EV6 GT?

    • @fields1
      @fields1 14 дней назад

      @@Aslash304 it may have equal range on the EPA lab test but my experience (and likely yours) is that you cannot go by those numbers. You and I both know Tesla’s range test results are always inflated. I’ve also seen the Lyriq AWD for example with a 307mi range rating only hit 220 miles on Car and Driver’s 75MPH range test. I’m more interested in real world figures as opposed to EPA numbers. The Germans on the other hand tend to be overly conservative. We also have an i7 xDrive60 and it surpasses its combined range rating by 50 miles on the highway (recent trip from NC to PA and back the i7 averaged almost 3.5mi/kWh driving at 80mph on I-95).
      I am glad you like the Prologue, I just think for most folks there are better options out there. That’s all I’m saying. Insurance on my EV6 GT is about $80/month. It’s slightly less expensive than the BMW M440i I had before it and about on par with what my VW GTI cost.
