As much credit as we give to Geoff Tate, Queensryche as a group is just fantastic. Geoff is not the only one that deserves praise and accolades. Although I love Geoff and he was the voice that helped me all through high school, the songs/albums should be given credit as well. These guys were such good song writers and no one seems to appreciate the band/songwriting ability these guys had.
@@philkakid5617 Exactly! The songwriting is actually more important than the singer. When you get both the songwriting of DeGarmo and the voice of Tate, you make history. Once DeGarmo left, the songwriting clearly wasn't what it had been.

This song was played constantly to me and my sister as children from our father. Love this song so much. Any time I hear it I want to cry honestly. It reminds me of a simpler time.
When this first hit the radio in 1990, I was 20 and thought Pink Floyd had released a new single, to this day, this song still gives me the chills. So glad you enjoyed it!
Geoff Tate reveals his vulnerable side. Orchestration by the late Michael Kamen. If you hear similarities to the orchestration of Comfortably Numb as performed by Pink Floyd, you are right ✅: he orchestrated the music for that and the remaining songs of The Wall. In 1990, the sane year when Queensryche released Enpire, Kamen composed and orchestrated the music for the soundtrack to the movie 🎥 Die Hard 2. The next year, he worked the same roles for the movie 🎥 Hudson Hawk, again starring Bruce Willis, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, writing ✍ Everything I Do I Do It for You with Bryan Adams and Mutt Lange, and Kamen also orchestrated Nothing Else Matters for Metallica. To get the essence of the late Michael Kamen, I played 6 songs consecutively, which he had some involvement: 1 Daryl Hall singing Dreamtime 2 Metallica performing Nothing Else Matters 3 Pink Floyd performing Comfortably Numb 4 Queensryche performing Silent Lucidity. 5 Bryan Adams singing Everything I Do I Do It for You. 6 Bryan Adams (again) and the late Paco de Lucia performing Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman 👩
a possible reason for the comparisons to Pink Floyd was the fact that the composer of the orchestrated section of this piece was composed by Michael Kamen, a composer who had worked with Aerosmith, after this recording Queen for the Album A kind of Magic, and who scored the original Highlander score as well as scoring the Orchestrial pieces in Pink Floyd's The wall. He had helped Geoff and Chris Degarmo with the arrangement, and would do so again for their track "Real World" The Voice speaking guiding you to achieve the Lucid dreaming is Geoff Tate with his voice pitched down to give it that dream like quality.
Yes you need more Queensryche on your channel. BTW this song won them a Grammy. This was their biggest hit, but if you ask any of us Queensryche fans, there are many other great songs left for you to react to. And yes I see this reaction and enjoyed it very much and look forward to many more reactions to Queensryche from you. Your reaction was about like my 1st reaction to this song. Can't wait to see Suite Sister Mary. The best concert I ever saw was Queensryche just after Empire came out and they did over 2hrs and did Operation Live Crime completely, what a show!
When this album (Empire) came out, everyone said they sounded like Pink Floyd. On their previous albums, people said they sounded like Iron Maiden. It's just a testament to how amazing their range really was.
The song is about Dream control. Some people, like me, know when they are dreaming and they can direct the dream in the direction they want to, without really waking up. It can be learned as far as I know. Have a look at the epic song The Eyes of a Stranger, from the epic Operation Mindcrime album

I saw Queensryche a long time ago. Geoff's mic cut out at the very end of this song and you could still hear him 20 rows back, over the music! That's power!
2 songs per stream, and you could knock out the legendary Queensryche's classic "Operation Mindcrime" LP fairly quick, and it would be the most epic Reaction series, ever done on the Y-Tubes!
Operation Mindcrime, yes. BUT, do Operation Livecrime instead. It's too easy to say what he pulls off on Mindcrime is the result of post-production. When you hear Livecrime you hear the slight imperfections that highlight just how amazing how his voice is. Or was. He probably can't do it anymore, but it's been 30 years.

“Silent Lucidity,” a song by Queensrÿche, is widely interpreted as an exploration of dreams, consciousness, and self-awareness. The lyrics speak to the idea of lucid dreaming-being aware that you are dreaming and having the ability to control your dreams-and use this concept to convey a deeper message of overcoming fears, trauma, and emotional pain. Throughout the song, the singer acts as a guide, reassuring the listener that they can find peace and control within their dreams. The recurring message is one of comfort, as if the singer is comforting someone who is afraid, perhaps a child or an individual grappling with personal turmoil. The tone is soothing, and the lyrics emphasize the ability to conquer nightmares, suggesting that through self-awareness and control over one’s thoughts and dreams, inner peace and healing can be achieved. The song also carries a theme of empowerment, subtly suggesting that lucid dreaming could be a metaphor for taking control of one’s life or mind. The concept of facing fears and gaining control of one’s dream world could be expanded to symbolize taking control of one’s reality, confronting personal struggles, and gaining inner strength. Key ideas conveyed in “Silent Lucidity” include: • Lucid Dreaming as a Metaphor: The notion of controlling one’s dreams is symbolic of self-mastery and overcoming fears in waking life. • Comfort and Reassurance: The lyrics offer solace, as if addressing someone who is suffering emotionally, encouraging them to find peace. • Empowerment through Awareness: The song suggests that through awareness, one can transcend the pain and challenges of life, both in dreams and in reality. Ultimately, “Silent Lucidity” is a contemplative and introspective song, with its dreamlike imagery serving as a pathway for exploring emotional healing, awareness, and personal empowerment.
You might also give Moody Blues "Nights In White Satin" a reaction...if you can find it in some versions (probably not any of the live renditions) there is a poem after the song. I think you'll enjoy.
