One of the greatest supernatural shows of all times. I watched Angel along with Charmed every morning waking up at 5am from 5th grade until graduation. I still rewatch Angel annually because of the beautiful lesson to always fight for what's right. Though I hated the show ended... how poetic it was to see them fighting to the end. ❤
Just rewatched Angel too, cried a couple of times over the last episode and then my face became numb and unimpressed at the very end. No I dont feel the ending at All. But as you say poetic.. I guess 😂😅
They continued the story after the final fight in the Angel comics and with the comic series Angel: After the Fall. Worthy successor to the series storyline, continuation went for 11 years (2007-2018).
I read that and I also read 'Season 8' of Buffy. I was hugely disappointed by the Buffy comic, but I thought 'Angel: After the Fall' was really well done. Fantastic and fun!
I enjoyed that season so much. I hated seeing characters die but it was always about still pushing forward for the greater good. The show had a good message and gave us something amazing to go back to.
Had me on the edge of my seat them final 2 episodes..cos you could see where it was heading. What a roller-coaster of a ride from start to finish!....That final scene near the Hyperion..in the alleyway..and the senior-partners had unleashed all the captured nasty's from the bowels of Wolfram & Hart..as well as opened up portals to unleash a portion of they had against our remaining heroes. Wesley (tear-jerkily taken out) Gunn..fading fast from a severe mortal injury..Only Angel..Spike & Illyria remained. I'm glad Spike returned for the final battle. I remember it 1st time round and it cut off before the clash..and I was like ~ "ARRRRGH! NO!!...." I WANT MORRRRE!!....In my mind for years, I'd have liked to think they only thought they would be taken out..and that if (and I really hoped for years) that there was a continuation leaving right off where we left them in the alleyway..that they somehow..(after a pitched battle..and thorough pasting) that they fled/retreated and set-off for reinforcements in Italy to get some "Slayer Help" from Buffy & Faith..and to explain-away the slight aging they could have shown some sort of energy-life-force-drainer bounce of Spike & Angel before they fled. And although James Marsters in recent-past interviews when asked of a possible continuation/return with the surviving co-stars..he was up for it..however..said Joss Whedon had better get his skates on as he wasn't getting any younger..and there was only so long you could get away with playing an immortal vampire..He's currently 57 going on 58..so I don't know how he'd get away with it now..frustrating as it is. I miss the Buffy/Angel days..nothing's come close..unless you count the first 4 seasons of HEROES..(not reborn though, that was toilet)....0:50 I'm glad Dave had wanted it to be a surviving-fight..etc. In the Buffy interview..or another Angel interview/reunion..James Marsters commented and reckons "realistically" it was a "Suicide Fight To The Death"..and Joss years ago in an interview says..wether they did or not, its up to the fans..but in reality..no one can truly beat these type of powers..i.e. Wolfram & Hart..they're a bit like "The First"..they'l always exist continuing mans inhumanity towards man. I always pictured W&H like a government..they run everything because we allow it..and because of that, they can't be beat. Good & Evil are the same power..it just depends how/who wields it....
1st off, it's not a suicide mission. I understand you are foolish enough to look to Joss Whedon who was dumb enough to get his show canceled. That's not really your fault. Whedon is trying desperately not to look like a failure, caude his show was canned, and selling lies to you. It was written as a season finale. Joss (and cowritter Jeff Bell) never planned the show to end here. 2nd, yes, it is highly up to us what we believe happens after. There various fanfiction stories about it. Including my own. 3rd, the notion that they need slayer help is insulting. The slayers showed over the course of season 5 that they are not allies. 4th, I agree that Wolfram & Hart is much like the government of today. And I highly relate that speech Angel gave at the end of episode 109 Power Play....that we can't stop them but for a moment to show them they don't own us. 5th, if interested check out my fanfiction continuation. What happens next and how it unfolds may surprise you. angelusfic.simplesite.com
They do survive in the comics. As far as the entire Buffyverse, I’m happy they’re not making anything. Those two shows were special to me and millions of fans that I’d hate to see a continuation not live up to expectations. I’d love to see a mature animated series that way all the actors can provide their voices and still look like they did back then.
I like that too. But I'm also for closure. I'm also against TV shows getting unfairly canceled. To which this was given a season finale not planned as a series finale.
I’m a comic book writer and eventually will turn it into a show and hoping that I can bring David back as Angel for a cameo in an episode. I’m hoping he will still be alive.
For the record I was unhappy with the way Conner was portrayed on Angel. The only time he was the way he should have been was in the final episode where he was a fine young man. I wish he had been that way from the beginning. Maybe even a decent crossover on Buffy.
that annoyed me so much! it made me so mad that he couldn’t just have grown up with angel and how he never truely liked or trusted angel before the last season, ALTHOUGH a lot wouldn’t have happened without all of it. and i like how he got his memories back but not much happened after and he just accepted it. that gave good closure to it i think.
Would love a Angel Movie with everyone on board, a story that takes place right after season 5 finale? Angel, Spike, Wesley, Illyria/Fred, Gunn, Conner, Cordelia, with Buffy, Faith, Willow, Giles, Dawn, Andrew, Xander and the rest of the Slayers.
Oh what I would give to see something so that they could fix what they did to Cordelia. And now that what a lot of us suspected has recently come to surface, I’d like to see it happen more than ever. And it’s quite an easy fix. As Lilia told us in the season 4 finale, Wolfram and Heart had Cordelia at their hospital while she was in the coma. Angel got the call about her from their hospital. Here’s the fix.... the lied.
The ending was cool, but I wanted it to continue on if they survived or if Angel ever became human? When I was in high school it left me confused whether or not if they won
My headcanon is that they died. That was the whole point, redemption through death - the fight against evil would one day consume them, because evil itself is a force of nature, it just "is". I absolutely refuse to read the comic continuation, the plot sounds absurd.
@@cruesteele15 that's what I'm saying they all look fairly good still I think it would work ..everyone will start watching Angel binge the first five seasons to jumpstart the name and fame again
there was supposed to be a season 6, and you guys know it!! finishing it on a graphic novel is not the same!! we really didn't get to see what happened with everybody, so not fair of the network, all they care about is money, how do they expect to keep their audience when they do stupid crap like that????
I think the ending was great and perfect even if that was not the intentions of where it would end re watching the episode i now know that was the perfect way to end it
If it hadn't been cancelled then it may have had a somewhat different ending, but thematically it probably would've been the same; it was the right way for the show to go out imo.
Gotta disagree with David, the show ended badly, mostly because everyone wanted more. Felt rushed that it was like "oh ok well lets all go out fighting hurr durrrr"
@At Me I assumed it was a bs prophecy written by Wolfram & Hart to keep Angel in line like how that one time traveling demon did to alter prophecies to make certain outcomes possible.
I don't know. Gunn about to die and three of them left together with an open end like that, it looks to me as if this was not meant to be the end, but that is just me.
Well, it was never intended to be the series finale. The show was canceled, and they chose not to change much. If I remember from what I read in 2004, they decided to kill Lindsey and Wesley. Gunn was rumored to die.... However, speaking to J August Richards on Twitter last year, he told me there was nothing set as to if Gunn lived or died. Angel series finale is one of my favourites but I understand why at the time people were upset about it
It's hard for some people to undersrand what it actually meant. Those who didn't get the core message of the show, wouldn't have got it
The ending was not bad by any means but everybody wanted it to continue. I also thought Dark-Angel ended way to fast.
It pissed me off at first, especially when I first saw it as a teenager, but I love it as an adult.

Angel and his friends did survive.
Just get David Boreanaz and James Marsters together and do some banter as Angel and Spike and I'm sold 😁

The comics of angel by dark horse continue the stories for buffy and angel
