    Thanks Paul for a great comparison video. I need a filter system so might go for the budget option and it's good to know they dry off well, with my bad luck with weather.

    Hi Paul, I still have the first lee filter holder, but screwing on that polariser is driving me nuts.Secondly, I had to buy a new field pouch earilier in the year because the velcro packed up on my old one. However, the filter holder will not fit in the new pouch as it is just a fraction too narrow. I am really miffed. I will be changing to Kase at Christmas.

    Hi Paul, great video. With regard to the correcting the colour cast in the final side by side images, obviously if it's a filter that covers the whole frame the correction would be easy to adjust. But what about when using a grad ND, with a portion of the glass clear and the rest with the ND, how can that be corrected....?

    Hi Paul, enjoyed your review on the K&F Concept ND filter kit, i am fairly new to doing the long exposure photography and i have been using a 10 stop screw filter, it worked well but it was a bit fiddly screwing it on when the weather was lousy, plus if i wanted to use a grad filter for the sky i was a bit stuck, so i decided to look at a square filter kit, i have ordered the filter kit and filter holder of the K&F site which was a lot cheaper than Amazon, looking forward to receiving the kit and getting out to try it.Thanks for the review

    I’m still looking at filters and if go with a holder or screw on. It’s nice to see a straight comparison between them. You can see that with processing there is not much different but on some you could just make out the difference in sharpness in the image.

    Hi Paul, thank you for this interesting review, especially for me thinking about buying the Kase K75 filterset, but what is surprising me is that you are using the 100x150 mm sized filters in a 58 mm lens thread. As a user of only Panasonic G9, I was looking for the K75 filterkit. Is there a significant motive to use the bigger filters (100x150) over the 75x100 filters, to your opinion? Maybe the limited amount of filters comparerd to the K9 filterkit? Greets Ton

      hello and great question.. the main reason is i was a Canon shooter with 77mm lenses, i also have a full set of lenes now for the fuji.. i have even moved away from the big square filters for the Kase mag set, if you see my latest videos.. just because these are smaller to pack.. if you have or use a very wide angle maybe think about the bigger set..

    I'm wanting square filters so I can use graduated nd's. I like the lol of the Lee system but it's prohibitively expensive (70 quid for a plastic holder and 200+for a polariser). I like tgd idea of the k&f but have a couple of questions. First, do they make wide angle specific adapters? I can't find any anywhere and according t o the Lee system matcher, 2 of my lenses would require wide angle adaptors. Second, can you stack the k&f holder on to the cpl so you can use both the cpl and square filters? Do you just get the right size adapter to fit the cpl to then mount the square holder on?

    • @paulcomptonpdphotography
      @paulcomptonpdphotography  3 года назад

      i get what your saying about the Lee system it very costly but it is a good piece of kit, the problem you have is the K&F does not yet have a CPL fitment, i know they are working on one at the moment and ill be one of the first to see it when its ever made. As for the idea of fitting the system to a CPL round filter this could work fine if you have a CPL with a thread on the front, the other part of the question i cant answer about the wide angle, i have never had an issue with my lee kit on my 16mm full frame canon, and defo have no issue on my fuji.. what lens are you thinking of using?

    • @oneandonlyjaybee
      @oneandonlyjaybee 3 года назад +1

      @@paulcomptonpdphotography thanks for the reply. I have a canon efs 10-18mm stm and the 24mm 2.8 pancake. The Lee compatibility checker said I'd need a wide angle adaptor for those two lenses. I already have a cpl with 67mm thread which fits my 10-18 and is my biggest diameter (I then have step down rings for my other lenses). This has a front thread which I can put my circular nd filters on.

    • @paulcomptonpdphotography
      @paulcomptonpdphotography  3 года назад +1

      so i would say yes to the fitting it on the front of the CPL, but doing this will push it away from the lens so on a very wide lens this will be a problem, i am sure if Lee say that you need a wide filter system then thats the same for all, as the CPL on the Lee system is all ready 105mm, what camera is it on as 10 on a crop sensor will be around 24mm?

    • @paulcomptonpdphotography
      @paulcomptonpdphotography  3 года назад +1

      that is very true, buy once haha but i would not think you need the full wide kit on a crop camera, but Lee must of tested them, what i would do is wait for the NEC show to get back on and test them on your camera, or if your local to me ill let you use mine i have Lee and Kase and K&F kits

    You do not need and padding on the sides you not get any light leaking in as light travels in straight lines if you ever been in a darkroom you can enter with no doors just what is called a maze painted in black.
    RE the finish on the have you tried cleaning with ROR this might remove the problem
    As for colour cast it will only bother anyone taking images in JPG in post it just one click to sort any cast if there is one.
    You say the CPL felt plastic yet its sold as “Super slim and lightweight aluminum frame” so is one ring plastic?

    • @paulcomptonpdphotography

    PS: the self timer behaviour is NOT fuji's fault, this is a "Custom setting" in the menus, you go to self timer, and select to leave it on, until you turn it off. Also some settings can be saved, aka left set as last shot, like drive mode.( also there is a "safety" feature, that any self timer, bracketing, etc. is automatically turned off when the camera is turned off, then On again, to allow you to get a shot, without these other features getting in the way).
    another work-around, is to set this up, then save that configuration in C1/2/3 setting on the dial, then when it is turned off, it automatically re-loads this setting, as the dial is on C1/C2 as this is part of the setup you have selected.

    It looked like you installed the filters with the gaskets backward but I didn't hear an explanation for why... perhaps I missed it? Also, that K&F holder fits so loosely that it looks like it shook quite badly in the wind, that's not ideal for long exposure photography. But for the price, I'm sure an easy solution could be worked out. Not trying to be a Negative Nellie just some observations. Keep up the good work.

      This is the whole reason i make video, i dont normally do reviews but you have made some good points and thank you.. First when i use the Lee ND filter with the gasket fitted they will not fit other makes of holder as the Lee holder id made to take the foam gasket, so yes i should of said. Second point yes the K&F holder is loos and i think in time they will improve on things like a locking system, this is why again you have made a great point they can see and read..
