You should always vet a route as a truck driver before taking it. Trusting a GPS 100%, especially one that doesn't look like a trucker GPS as a truck driver, is like trusting that a $1 lot lizard won't give you a disease.
I was wondering why he didn't go out the way he came in.
@@Georgia_Rob that should have been one of the very first things he was taught or at least learned when he started.
Always look at an atlas for low clearance bridges and restricted roads especially around Chicago.
He has been told this numerous times.
Probably time constraints?

Going around the world to the right?
What happens when you're late for an appointment as a truck driver is the either get you in really fast or you wait for hours until they call. If you show up on time for your appointment, you will probably wait for hours while they get around to unloading you. If you show up early for your appointment, you usually wait hours before they get you unloaded.
💯
Exactly thanks for the truth. I've shown up on time so many times and they said I had to wait. I show up late and they get me in a lot of times. Trucking is backwards.
These guys worrying about every little thing out here need to take a chill pill. If you're equipment is good then no need to even stress getting around or if they pull you into scales.
Too many guys out here just create their own drama. It ain't that serious guys.
Once at petmate in Dallas tx for a 1pm appointment I showed up at 11:30am got loaded at 8pm and was out of that place at 9pm 😂

Instant sub!! Glad to hear part of your story on Joey's segment. I'll be here to support you and will start by saying thanks for what you do in ensuring me and my family have access to what we need. 💪
Not saying he is a bad guy. But he is a bad driver. He is not using a truck route gps. I know that area. He is going down residential streets that are clearly marked with 5 ton weight limits. He is tearing up people's trees and laughing about it. How would you like him tearing up your street?
They keep sending him to Chicago, lol...just heard the GPS mention 'Cicero Ave' and 'Ogden Ave'.
May I make a suggestion. The Garmin is a great gps and yes it shows truck routes however the Overdrive Pro GPS is far superior. It will show only truck routes along with weight limit roads and all bridge clearance heights as soon as you enter the address not when you get close to the bridge. It is a bit costly but well worth the price and much more accurate as it will perform automatic updates when connected to wifi or bluetooth. Just my two cents for the day.
I think Rand McNally would be too complicated for him he’s had garmin for a while I had a garmin before it hit me with a 24 hour update went to Rand McNally never looked back
The Garmin is okay for the highways, but get into the city and it will send you to hell real fast. I think I'll check out that OverDryve 8 Pro.
I’d honestly recommend Trucker’s Path. It’s constantly updated, reveals truck stops, weigh stations, clearances, weight restrictions, etc. And it has an active community that leaves reviews and tips for any difficult areas. I’ve been using it for 2 years now and have never had the problem he’s been facing.
A bit of trip planning your route before you go is a better start. You can give someone the best tools in the world, but it is just that, a tool, one of many you need to do this job.
How much does it cost?

i thought last i looked he had the DEZL OTR 710 or 810. which are good GPS units for trucks TBH. im probably going to switch to the 810 dezl OTR myself soon. i have the TND 750 and it hasnt gotten a map update in fucking forever. theres loads of roads and highways that have been built or changed and it has no fucking clue.
anyway, even a truck GPS struggles in some cities (especially northeast) thats why you always look at google maps sattelite and more importantly keep an eye on your clearence signs and well... all the other signs. i tend to turn my radio down or off and keep my head on a swivel when im entering a city/getting off a highway. i dont think Alex has had a (or shown) getting into a situation like this before so i wouldnt give him grief over it. we all have bad days and fuckups/mistakes/problems.

Cuz hes hilariously entertaining lol
Bots
The horrifying skills is what makes it entertaining.
Also, most people are unaware that the more interaction you have in your comment section. Rather, it's good or negative, which actually increases. The chance of the algorithm recommending your channel out to a wider audience which increases the chances of subscriptions, which in turn increases the chances of watch time, which can then earn you more ad revenue. So the truth is, the more drama there is in a comment section. The higher the chances that your channel is gonna grow. Aint that some s***😂
He got 90% of his subs from shorts not actual videos. That’s why
this dude needs to get off the road...jesus christ. He's the definition of a steering wheel holder.
Alex, when you’re taking a load with barrels of unknown substance you better start asking questions. Shoppers sneak and sometimes forget all the paperwork. If that was hazardous it’s on you. Just because you’re new (2years) to driving you need to understand what’s in your load is your responsibility to know what the heck you’re hauling. Stop with the, your words “I don’t care what it is”. Not bitching you out just trying to help.
Yeah I learned that the hard way went into a Wyoming weigh station the officer asked what I'm hauling I had no idea lol. Felt like a total idiot. I always check now
@@jimmypappas9780Exactly 💯. Make sure you know 💯 what you are hauling before you leave the shipper!😮
Man you can’t get away from Chicago if you wanted too.
Alex you need to have the air pressure check at the shop. You shouldn’t be running out that fast or maybe a step you’re missing.
If you pay attention when he let's off his breaks it always makes the huge hissing sound. He is standing on the brake pedal is the first issue there. Second issue is unless sliding those tandems there is no need to pull the trailer brakes because it takes so much air to fill the trailer back up
One of his 3 service lights on his dash might be the issue.
40 minutes of turn signals and a muppet.

Idk what his problem is but when you’re in a tight area, always ask someone at the docks how to safely get back to the highway. Usually someone there can at least offer some kind of help.
Atlas for your routes and the rule for unmarked bridges is they have to be state minimum which most minimums are 13’6”. Not 16’. No states minimum is under 13’6” so anything under must be marked but an atlas would help you with all that. Doesn’t matter what gps you got always quick reference the route roads to the front pages of an atlas where you’ll see roads with restrictions and low bridges.
Atlas doesn't help on city streets smart guy
It does if you can read them

''What's on the BOL? I don't really know.'' You better know. ''As long as the weight is legal, I don't care.'' There are plenty of things on the BOL that you should care about I hope you check that the BOL has your company name on it, for starters.
We used to deal with that Amasteel at my previous job. Used for blasting steel plates.
Thank you for these videos Alex, I'm learning a lot from them . 🙂
Brand new truck with check engine and service light on. Wtf
My best advice for you or any other trucker call the location you are delivering or pick up loads if you running late like weather, truck problems or heavy traffic. I used work a a place that we wait for a load that day and don't receive a call because of truck problems or other things. It not our responsibility to call and ask where on earth is our load. Before you say well you can track it no the company I work at doesn't allow us.
It should be truck driver responsibility to notify us when there a problem like running late. Always say I'm sorry I am running late because of X reason and I be there at this time and if I don't make it that at time I will call you again.
Have done that many of times when I was running late. Kept the receiver in the loop and still got unloaded when I got to them because I made sure they knew what was going on and where I was at. 😊
@@carlbernard4197 Always call, and be honest. If it is traffic, tell them if it was your mistake (sleeping in, wrong turn) tell them. One thing I hated about the industry was dispatch telling me to lie to a customer, my integrity is worth more than that
You can’t sue the city if you’re not on a truck route 😂

For sure you need to start to pay attention to what's in drums. I can tell you as someone who handles them on a daily basis and loads them in trucks to go from Michigan to Texas. There can be some really dangerous stuff in them and you need to watch to make sure you don't get yourself in trouble. Especially when it comes to paperwork you need to always make sure it's all there shippers will try to avoid doing that. I don't know how many times I have to get in contact with shippers about this so I know the load is ok. Plus they are always heavy that's another thing with drums and sacks of pounder they are always heavy as shit even if it's only a small amount of them.

Additionally, research if the receiver has overnight parking, and if not, and you don't see trucks parked in Google Street view, scout out a few options where to park afterward.
