Could you imagine if the trucker that was supposed to be escorted before you drove for MIGWAY? That would've been hilarious. You'd never come back to a South Carolina Port after that 😂.
LMAO, Karma's a bitch.
Imagine when we only had maps to navigate and no GPS.
Nearly 3 decades of trucking, and drivers still talk to themselves. 😂
@@RidingWithDave stop cuminte
@@PapaJohn1969
We used the Atlas & called for directions.
A good escort can get you from point A to B with no incident but a great escort who knows his stuff will make you feel like you've done that drop off/ pick up a hundred times even if it's your first time.
An excellent escort will get your sails up
I drove flatbed for years. We always got directions like this. Even better, just longitudinal coords because there’s no roads yet! This was the most realistic trucking content I’ve seen in a while and I like your commentary.
600k miles with a flatbed, another 150k hotshot flatbed.
That Escort man needs a raise.
Safe travels, Dave. Thank you for trucking.
Idk, a $130 for showing drivers where to go sounds pretty sweet in my book. Not sure how many he does a day or anything though.
he works for himself
$130 for 30 min of "work" dont seem too bad
@@delnaro He's not paid for 30 min of work, he's paid for being available and knowing all the stuff that he knows
Considering he gets paid by the drivers, it sounds like he's got his own business going, so he would set his own rates to some extent.
A 40 minute riding with Dave video. Yes yes yes I will take it any day of the week.
Once you reach the point of no Fs given and the fear of driving in the unknown .. trucking becomes one of the best career out there if you can take care of your health . You get freedom , nice view , peace and awesome stories . I been watching your video since you we're on a kayak close to a military ship .
You're right, you just get used to the unknown and the bs lol. Never really phases me anymore.
I was on this ship a couple weeks ago! We went through one hell of a storm thats been on the news lately. Been watching your videos for a while and love them. Thanks Dave! I appreciate what you do
Im currently in CDL school and this looks like the PERFECT example of trip planning. Thank you for this, see you on the road!
good video as usual, so glad you had the escort guy, he was worth the $130 to make your delivery enjoyable and easy
I gotta say that $130 fee was worth it to get a private view of the carnival view ship and a private escort it was like a mini vacation for ya but awesome video as always
Up next: "What's up boyyyyyz you'll never believe where we went this time"
News: "breaking news....first successful truck delivery on the moon"
Then...
"Whats up boyzzzzz, we in Hawaii this time and don't ask me how I got here"
As a Charleston native, it was fascinating to see you experience our city from the trucker’s perspective. Glad you had a fantastic escort! You can probably imagine, but Charlestonians also get fed up with the number of trucks downtown, it can cause some serious problems for the trucks and for other drivers! Not to mention the roads themselves. Hopefully the city builds more facilities to help reduce problem spots like that right turn out of the port.
Glad you enjoyed the city!
This is the dispatchers job Dave. What the hell else do they have to do? That escort is probably making a grand or 2 a day . Good gig if you can get it.
I do not miss swinging doors and backing into tight places frequently at CFI, making the switch to local fuel haul was the right move for me at the right time.
I've delivered to cruise ships a few times. Kinda weird they didn't give you a delivery time. Those ships are always on a very tight schedule and a truck being late can cost a LOT of money for the cruise lines. Just curious, where did you pick up in Kingsport? I live there and I can only think of Eastman.
It's great to have an experienced escort like that, it definitely makes the job easier.
Well done dave I’m so proud of you always laughing on these adventures and 16:39 magnificent
Hey Dave. I have an update for you, I got my cdl and went to training with Schneider and I now work out of London Kentucky on the Walmart dedicated account. Awesome people and I just wanna thank you for inspiring me to do this career for myself I love your content and just keep doing what your doing bro. Stay safe
Awesome, best of luck to you! Happy to hear.
Walmart love it when I was on that account with Werner.
It’s bad that you owe the company your first years or they will sue you for training expenses
All the best to you Tristian!
Enjoy your run(s). Be happy and live well.
Blessings.
How do you like Schneider? I'm in the nky area and I'm looking for a company to train with
I love your videos and your jokes hope you had a great weekend and will have a great week
Every video lately has been great and love the longer videos! Keep up the good work Dave and stay safe out there!
I would Not even want to Guess how many Tractor Trailer Loads get Loaded onto the Cruise Ship and it begins immediately after it Docks to Unload Passengers.
Seen a cool documentary a couple years back think they said around 10 trucks figure 3k people for a week plus I want to say enough for another 3 days just in case bad weather break downs ect that is why they don't store toilet paper in just in 1 place any more a water line broke and destroyed 80 percent of it had to take it from low use rooms and switch it out just a funny fact
I watching videos and I have my bells on your videos and I'm subscribed to your videos and 👍
Awesome escort! Hope my journeys are the same! Great stuff Dave!!
You think all those people from the cruise needed a TWIC card and a escort?
Hey Dave back again with another banger I be watching your videos like I'm watching a movie lmfao 😂 🤣 I love yo videos so intertaing.
Delivery trucking what comes
Lol about that same time I was in a CFI truck crossing the bridge next to the USS Yorktown delivering to a greenhouse
lol it’s so weird hearing you talk about South Carolina towns because that’s where I’m from. Especially Georgetown and mt pleasant/Charleston
If you get stuck don't blame me
Damn Dave, I remember when you had like 2000 subscribers when I was like just turning 19-20. I loved your Gromski videos, still do remember all the fun shit you got up to, and miss them so much. But this is the first time a vid of yours has popped in my feed in so long and im glad you're doing well, even if this delivery went wacky at the start
I have had the privilege to deliver Rgt to a aircraft carrier in San Diego, seeing my semi parked next to that carrier made that semi look like an ant compared to a mountain
Been there done that, canned goods paper products was a blast hung out with the crew ate with them stayed overnight in Miami best load I've ever had
Try delivering to Fort Jackson, SC at oh dark thirty when everyone is out and about with their drills and walks, plus the guard doesn't know how to get to the commissary AND the streets are not designed to accommodate a tractor with a 53 foot trailer. FUN!
I live in Charleston and love seeing your videos of driving through here!
Good video, but for privacy reasons, you probably should blur out his phone number
if the guy does see this comment here me and a ton of other people do think you for the tour of the port there. that was pretty dam cool for one of dave's videos.
My first ride with Dave-- fun and interesting! Next time i take a cruise, i will have a new appreciation for all the delivery truk drivers and take care to let them have the right of way. Thanks, Dave!
As a SC Resident, its really cool getting to see my locale from a truckers perspective. I live in the Columbia area, but I know my way around this state. The behind the scenes looks at the Ports are something else. Look forward to the next vid
AND WRITE HIS CELL # DOWN FOR FUTURE USE! TRUST ME!!!!
hey im sure its fine but i would censor the phone number on ur dash!
I think you passed me when you were in TN, i was in a CFI truck I81/26, whats funny is looking up the road i find that i was going to Kingsport for fuel.
When i saw the Online Transport pass me i was thinking "hey maybe thats dave, guess ill find out on his next video"
Than i hear you say youre in TN coming from kingsport
I’ve delivered to an island. Had to get on a ferry and we were squeezed in like a can of sardines.
Was that Palm Island…west coast Floriduh?
That's the ship I met my wife on, I would have loved that delivery.
I should probably do the go pro hat thing...You only have 287k subs lol? 🎉 At first I thought it said 287 not 287,000...
i'm a security agent working at a gate entrance, i love talking with the truckers and ive heard the most absurd stories happen to them on the road. and of course talk shit about the office or dispatch xd
I’ve read quite a few absurd stories from truckers as well😂 I have a love hate relationship with them honestly. A few years ago I was traveling with my mom in our car, and there was only truckers on the road at that time, and surprisingly we didn’t have any issues, the truckers just zoomed and we just zoomed. But like last year, we traveled and the traffic was so bad and the trucks were making it worse because they wouldn’t get out of the fast lane😂 but I respect how hard it is to drive those huge things
Dave those were not chuck holes, those were craters. 😂
you should make a shirt saying "in a quarter of a mile" cause on video the gps always says "in a quarter of a mile"
Damn right!!
Front of shirt: "What is up guys Dave back again for another truckin' blog..."
Back of shirt: "In one-quarter mile...."
😂😂😂
Good thing you were on the outskirts of Charleston instead of being downtown
We go to Garden city S Carolina. I love it down there
Super cool adventure today, Dave. Thanks for taking us along. Stay safe.
Really liked the causal tour footage towards the end! Perhaps add this type of footage in more often? Great video as usual!
The amount of bugs on your windshield 😂😂
i just realized the bob ross he has in the front
this looks so stressful. Glad you're having fun.
Hey Dave, you can get EFS checks from any Pilot or Loves truck stop. Most time they give you a couple for free. Have fun buddy
I love vacationing Between Georgetown and Myrtle Beach. Never made it down to Charleston. Thanks for the video.
Dave I wish I could do team driving with you
I'm a Retired Truck Driver of 38 Year's. I went over the night with an International with th exception of 10 Month's.
My so called Driving test was in a Freightliner for only, many 10 Minutes. Grant it, I handled it , but it was BLEEP!
I'm highly disappointed in you Dave. That sign said no marina or cabana bar parking, You should have at least stepped in for 1 drink and make that sign feel needed. Thanks for the video Dave!
Love thw videos Dave
If you are going into a port once a year or more get a TWIC card. You will save more than enough to pay for it, and you can often get in and out of the port quicker. If you drive for a company ask your dispatcher or broker if they'll pay you a bonus for having a TWIC card. I usually get $50 for each time I pickup at a port.
Props to the Escort but shouldn't it be dispatch's job to hook you up with the info before you go? It seems weird that you had to call for them to be like "oh yeah yeah we forgot to tell you there's this Escort dude you gonna have to call he'll explain everything" 😂
You can get EFS checks at most truck stops
*Hey Dave’s escort!* You did a wonderful job as a true escort including sightseeing and all.
Bless you bro!
They be cruising for bruising if they step out in front of ya 🤣🤣🤣🤣
you can custom routes on google maps, just drag the route line where you want to change something and it will add a stop where you moved it
example, if you want to turn left at road x instead of right, you drag from that point to the intersection you want to go and it will reajust the trip including this.
To remove a customization, you zoom and click on the dot on the trip line that have been created when you modified the trip.

Great vid! Always challenges. Been to multiple ports; was just at Gloucester City, NJ. Had a TWIC, but they expire, so haven’t renewed. I just pay the fee, and each port is different, ComCheck/no cc, cc/debit/no cash/or ComCheck. Escorting is great. At NJ they texted a PDF of Port too. Ports like Ft Lauderdale, no escort needed/payment, just check in with Homeland Security (and easy access from I-595!) When I lived in SoFla, the Sysco drivers loved delivering to Port Miami Cruise Ships, pay included piece pay, but was all “no touch” and they’d unload a semi in 15 minutes, usually 3 per ship! Easy money for them. Drive safe!
Top video
This really posses me of!!
It shouldn’t but it really winds me up!!
America is the only country that can make the English work sound the same but change the version of the actual word!
If it’s spelt and pronounced as interesting! (In-trest-ing). Interesting….
Why the hell do you yanks say it as Inner resting! (Ina-rest-ing 🤦♂️🤣. Really boils my skin!
If you wanted to get a TWIC, you just need your birth certificate, drivers license and to pass a federal background check. It is good for 5 yrs. Costs around $125.
I delivered to the port of Boston once and the escort literally said “ turn here turn right there go straight and blah blah blah you’re there” that made for a fun experience
Ports are like that. First couple times I was in the port, Port Newark NJ and Wilmington DE and Baltimore and Buffalo NY. Each one was unique.
On a KW you needed your turn stops removed or set differently. A KW long nose will never turn as sharply as a T680 or Volvo VN680. I was s mechanic, then a truck driver, then after Hurricane Katrina I went back to Heavy Equipment operation, and then to work at a defense contractor.
awesome video and so cool to see the Charleston area again :-)
Hey Dave, thanks for the vids!!! How do you like delivering-to/picking-up-from the ports? How does it stack up against non-port trucking?
Im going for my CDL at some point in the next month or so; seriously contemplating doing dedicated routes into/out-of a port here in my home-state (& if i do go that route, i will try to get my TWIC-card). At least, do that until i get enough trucking-experience before switching over to hazmat-tanker'ing.
This load wasn't bad at all so I didn't mind it. The last one though took a long long time to get unloaded so I wasn't a fan. People all were great in the ports though every time, Charleston is full of nice people.
@@RidingWithDave Awesome. Thanks Dave! Ya, idk if i want to have to wait around at the port (esp if i get paid by the mile).
Not to be an a-hole but you need some practice reversing mate. Way too much steering input for a start, should have taken an extra half second to plan where you pull forward to. Not trying to say I'm gods gift to trucking or anything but I could back 3 trailers onto that dock without needing to pull forward. It's all about taking an extra moment to pre plan and take your time reversing. Slow is fast.
26:40 That's sound like everyday Europe. Especially if you go in to the Alps.
Dave when did you switch to pleasant trucking , they come in where I work and so does C F I they come in also? I work for Johnson Matthew in Wayne pa . Don't know if you have gotten in there with CF I or Pleasant trucking?
Early squad is here and in full force!!🎉😂😂
I DROVE FOR 45 YRS ...HELL WHEN I TESTED FIRST TIME IN 1980...THE LONGEST TRAILER WAS 48'...IN MY STATE
The Carnival Sunshine Needs Food Too I see Lot Semi at Ports Who Else going Feed Over 2,000 Plus People On The Ship We Cruise A Lot I Use Drive Semi 32 Years Too Now Retirement is Great
You delivered to the warehouse not directly to the ship. Only the trucks delivering lube oil, and the vacuum trucks picking up the slop oil get to be next to the ship.
Freightliner has the biggest cab. Volvo is considered the luxury.
nice to have a good helper
Ha - I misread the title, until I heard you say something different, so I shrunk the video to read the title again and yep, you were right & I was wrong.
I had initially seen (stupid glasses) that you had to "deliver A cruise ship, not deliver TO one.
My bad, anyways will watch the video now that I'm here and have liked it already
This is an older video, but I have been there! Same load out of Domtar. I live 30 minutes from Kingsport so we get quite a few from there. I have never been there with a ship in port though. No escort required then.
Hi Dave! I came across your channel recently and have been enjoying the vlogs. I'm a transportation enthusiast and am thinking of becoming a truck driver myself. I was wondering if you had any pointers or anything that might be nice to know for like when I get my CDL and go into training?
I’ve been sent to a location for tipping a load but I’ve never been there before and when I get there it’s smack butt out in the middle of nowhere a road a couple of houses and that’s it. The boss said go up there and drop the load and come back. So i did but I expected a warehouse kinda thing but it was a residential house and I had no number to call no name or anything just an address and that’s it, as I stood there trying to figure out where the monkeys butt itch I was supposed to go a man came up and asked if I was looking for him, I politely said I wasn’t sure who I was looking for but I had a crane lifting thingy that was going to this address and he said I was looking for him. Just so weird expecting one thing and then faced with the totally different thing and go from there to solve the problem or mystery whatever you want to call it. You’re right Dave driving around delivering things to the unknown is kinda fun.
Does the floor in the Volvo still get really hot while you’re driving? It used to 25 years ago, it made the interior hot and the floor uncomfortable to walk in.
I actually went to Charleston, South Carolina several years ago and went on the bridge at the end of your video and went on the ships that you seen during your tour of the port and I can honestly say that I had the best vacation there.
Radio goes off.
-"I don't need that right now in my life."
Turns Radio Off.
I need this kinda attitude in mine.
for you guide, would not some cheap little walkie talkie between you two help alleviate some miscommunications that you may get??? and give it back to him/her when the load is delivered??
Wasn't Carnival Sunshine the renamed poop cruise ship? Lol, what a find.
First video I have seen from this channel so far. It is spot on.👍
One small suggestion. Blur out phone numbers as you might not want to put it out there for everybody to see. His phone might get busy otherwise 🤣
I’ve been on the USS Yorktown with my Granddad in Charleston.
$130 for escort sounds like a ripoff. Im sure you could have found the ship all by yourself.
Lol this is typical jobsite delivery stuff. Im glad to see its not just us flatbed that get confused & suffer from lack of directions & comms on this.
I work as security in a guard shack for an electronics company. I cant tell you how many loads i have turned away because the broker or dispatch didnt give them the right info.
Is that cameras on top of the mirrors ?, when I left trucking we dident even have cell phones. In my last year they just started installing qualcomm in semism small 1 in x 3 in screen to see text messages.
