HORNet Butterfly overview

- HoRNet Butterfly is an audio mastering tool designed to give you the tools for the final touches for your stereo mix or for mastering. It borrows the same high quality processing modules found in our SAMP, the master processor for Dolby Atmos.
Packaged into a single plugin you can find: an equalizer (using the same technology found in our TotalEQ) a compressor (using the same technology of our SyncPressor) a clipper and a limiter (using the same technology of our Magnus MK2). These processors guarantee a very high quality processing thanks to the intelligent oversampling designed to give the plugin enough bandwidth to process the sound without artifact at every sample rate. The order of the effect can be rearranged dragging their position in the top tabs control section and in the left part of the interface you can find a handy LUFS metering section that shows you the input and output levels with the standard “momentary”, “short term”, “integrated” and “true peak” readings. With its four processing modules HoRNet Butterfly can be used to master any stereo song with high precision and great results.

Great looking plugin, and looks very intuitive. If using this more as a channel strip would you recommend pairing this with an auto gain compensation plugin to maintain gain staging of tracks? If so any recommendation on which Hornet plugin to use for that? Thanks!
Hi, honestly, the plugin doesn't do any saturation interlay (unless you activate the clipper or the saturation in the eq) so gain string is not that important but anyway, if only for post processing (no recording() I wold go with TheNormalizer before Butterfly

The VST is cool but it takes a lot of processor resources
It's the LU momentary meter that is to blame, a fix is coming in this month
so you can side chain on this compressor ?
Hi no, Butterfly does not have an external side chain option.

I just bought it, the plugin eats 22% CPU and lags like a disk tripping. I can't use it
sorry on some systems it goes this way, a fix is coming this month

@@lachinhan it's going to be release on June 8th and it brought the whole cpu usage of the plugin down to 3% on my i7
I bought some Hornet plugins. Not because I need them, but out of pure curiosity what is possible for such small prices. I also like to support the small plug forges. It wouldn't be fair to compare things to the big plugin companies, but the advertising on Hornet almost forces you to do so. Low CPU is advertised for Butterfly. Advertising and reality are unfortunately far apart again.
Constructive criticism or comments on the Hornet review page are quickly deleted. Hmm, you get what you pay for.
Hi, we identified the Butterfly issue (that des not happens on every system) and we are providing a fix later this month. We stated publicly here on RUclips and also other web forum. FIY the code to slam is the momentary reading for the LUFS meter.
