    I find it's actually a good idea to buy the rear wing in lower class cars because it actually lowers PI most of the time, giving you just a few extra points to play with.

      yep and you can then tune the downforce to the minimum

    • @nightdriver7216
      @nightdriver7216 2 года назад +7

      Lots of people focus on the PI, but the rear wing makes your car understeer a lot at high speed and in this game it kills your top speed even at minimum setting. For circuit racing it can be fine but on races like the Colossus you'll regret it.

      @@nightdriver7216 It doesn't not necessarily kills top speed, and when it does, the car was already rarely reached its top speed or was an uncontrollable beast, so liking it or not, you'll need to put it in the car. And as long as you don't have that much down force and tune your differentials correctly, you won't suffer from understeer because of downforce.

    Good video. I hope you don't mind I add a couple of notes.
    Regarding the aero, on some cars the aero actually lowers the PI or costs 0. This is happens because the rear wing often lowers PI given the drop of top end. If your car isn't going to hit top speed (depends on the track and build) then the benefit of aero on B cars can be used at 0 cost or even gaining some PI.
    Regarding the final drive adjustment, it is common that some cars actually hit the top speed before the final white line. I know it's a common practice to extend it to the last line but you may be losing acceleration and top end by not checking if the tops out before the last line.

      A lot of people are gonna disagree with me on this but try toeing out your front tires and softening the front antiroll bar. Everyone tends to just say increase your downforce and call it a day, but from what I've tried, that really only helps maintain the corner and doesn't really help with responsiveness.

    People need to drop the notion that tuning is in any way shape or form separate from building. tuning comes in two parts Building and Setup unless you're building for X class the choice of parts is very important. and even targeting the right PI class matters. typically you should aim to upgrade a car 100-200 points higher than it is stock, as even fully upgraded it will struggle against better base cars, typically due to inferior handling
    Just like real life, forza has a class system that makes having the right amount of power, weight, tire compound matter, so putting on the right engine parts or tire size is just as important as having the right differential settings or roll bar resistance.
    Knowing what upgrades to put into your car first is as important as having a good suspension setup if not MORE important, In A class or lower most cars will run stock suspension.
    The first things you want to upgrade in any A or lower car are the differential(s), Anti roll bars, rear tire width, and tire compound(use street/vintage, rally or semislicks and only as much as necessary), then reduce weight and finally add power. Brakes, roll cage and drivetrain and front tire widths are usually deficits until you're in S1/S2.
    Adding power is very formulaic, swap engines first if possible within your target PI AND your car does not have one of the following engines already; a 1.6L or 2.0L I4, a 3.2L I6, a 3L RACING V8, a 6.2L V8, RACING 7.2L V8, a 5.2L or 8.4L V10, or a RACING V12. after installing your new engine the first thing you should consider is upgrading your transmission to sport or the racing 10 speed(can be tuned as a 6-8 speed by ignoring gears) as they have the lowest PI.
    Once/if you've added a shiny new gearbox to your car then you can worry about further increasing power. if your engine has a centrifugal supercharger available in conversions install it, then upgrade it as much as possible. after that start adding power by upgrading parts that reduce weight first, only upgrade camshaft if you have no other way to add power. you can go over/under by 1 or 2 PI and be fine, as you can lower PI by adding heavy/larger rims to your car(hardly makes a difference to handling) a 10 speed transmission(if you have not already done so) or upgrading cooling. and add some small upgrades like flywheel or clutch if you're to low.
    once you've reached that target PI, you should check out the guide @HokiHoshi made on the setup portion of tuning.

    This video has a good, productive commentary. Rather than reply to all the previous posts, I thought I'd address a common thought expressed multiple times.
    Yes, I sometimes reach full speed in a road race, and a wing can lower that. However, I have found that the real reason I'm left behind in some races is the lack of acceleration. I'm simply not reaching those higher speeds as fast as the cars that are disappearing in front of me. Both are important, but I think acceleration is the real key.

  • @aurastrike
    @aurastrike 2 года назад +9

    Wait, people do these things? Unfortunate.
    Here's how I think of it:
    You really need to test the car bone-stock to figure out what you need to focus on right away. If the car is down on power with low top speed and accel, it will be worth it to use a little more PI on engine upgrades than normal. If the car has crap handling, toss the aero on, stuff like that. Soon, you'll have a build that works efficiently, and it's time to start tuning out the imperfections

    If I was building a car I would start with the engine swaps as they’re far better than stock engines, then I would all wheel drive swap. from there i lower pi(widening rear tires, adding spoiler etc) then I get as much upgrades for handling(springs, brakes, gears, tires if possible) with whatever pi I have left(if you’ve left over pi after upgrading handling then go onto upgrading power)

    The rear wing usually lowers the PI rating by about 10 lol. I unfortunately end up adding it often to squeeze in more power or weight reduction as long as it doesn't tank the top speed too much. Unfortunate because it's ugly AF.

    1: Downloading a popular tune is far better than randomly upgrading a car without any vision and calling it your own "tune". Just try to have a feel of it, drive it for a few hours, look at your speed each gear this way you can mirror the gearing. Look at things you can see on the outside camber, toe, aero, tires, track width etc. Even if you don't want to learn how to tune properly do a favor for yourself and download someone elses tune and ejony racing.
    2. Don't overbuild a car just to hit your class requirement. Try to choose a car that's 1 or 2 classes lower than what you want to achieve. For example you wanna build an S1 class car, try to look for a higher B or a lower A class car. This way you will have an easier time tuning the car. You can choose any lower class car but that will highly likely needs to be engine swapped, which will change your weight distribution along with your power and torque band which can turn out to be wasted time if you aren't doing it wisely.
    3. In my opinion aero depends on what build you are aiming for. B class or lower there isn't much to force down (bad joke... Sorry...) for S1 class and above downforce is almost always a must upgrade like 99% of time. Now A class where it gets fun. If you ask me A class is the most diverse class when it comes to tuning because there are 3 ways to tune (as far as i know) when it comes to racing. These 3 are Grip tunes, Balanced tunes and (my favorite) Power tunes. I think their names speaks for them so i don't have to detail it much. Grip tunes are the most stable, most reliable tunes that use every single upgrade that affects handling (suspension, ARBs etc.) which can be driven by anyone and finish in a decent place but they lack top speed. Power builds are the complete opposite, they are ridiculously fast and rely on straight line speed and slight bend corner speed while requiring a somewhat decent throttle control and smooth steering if you play without any assist like me. Balanced builds are what they sound like. They are the both builds combonation some call them allrounder builds.
    4. When it comes to toe i wouldn't go beyond 0.5 toe out for racing purposes. Play with it but be careful cause it could make your car unstable on higher speeds if you aren't delicate with your steering and you can fishtail if you try to adjust a bit too aggressive.
    5. For gearing try to keep it simple with your gears. Connect the lower part of your gears on the graph and make a curve with it, like an upward arch. Adjust your gears like that and try to make it that you hit your top speed in your last gear at the highest rpm without bouncing off the limiter.
    Hope these help you guys out slong with the tips in this awesome video. I've never visited your channel or seen your other videos but i'll subscribe. I might learn a thing or two aswell. Keep up the quality videos 🤜🏻🤛🏻

    Another big mistake is lining the last gear with the edge of the graph. This is a BIG nono! Especially if your car has either a bad weight to power ratio, or low torque, or a mix of the two. The end of the graph should be seen as a "theoretical" top speed. Chances are your car can get there, but if you don't have the power to get there comfortably, you're absolutely trashing your top end performance. It is extremely situational that you'll ever see your top speed, so acceleration should be prioritized.
    Shorter gears = better accel. If you still want to get to the end of the graph, but do not want to sacrifice acceleration, I would use a transmission with a higher gear count, so preceding gears don't have to be overly long. But even when you're done tuning, it's best to drive your car around some race tracks. Are you bouncing on the rev limiter often? That's cause for longer gears. Are you getting nowhere near your rpm limit on the last gear? That's cause to shorten the gears because your car lacks the power to actually go any faster.
    You'll need to find the right balance for your car so you avoid leaving power on the table. If you bounce on the limiter and your car is sputtering, or your car is struggling to get through the entire rev range, you've left a LOT of power on the table. When BUILDING the car, you need to watch for your power, your torque and your weight. Again, the top speed the game shows is theoretical at BEST.
    Don't just slap on power parts till you reach the max of your class, pay attention to the values the game gives you. A car with a lot of power, but little torque will have a lot of trouble getting up to speed, and will need more gears. If your car has plentiful torque, but weighs too much, it's the same scenario.
    A trick I use when building, is have a look at the window that gives the power, torque and weight values. Pull up your phone calculator, put in your car's weight, then divide by the power to get your power to weight ratio. The smaller the number, the better. Higher classes will see a lower number more commonly. The lower you can get that number in the same class, the better.

      His upgrades and tunes are more meant for people just getting into tuning and beginner fh5 players. But I have a Top 3% Score in Drift zones and Speed zones and would argue TRC usefulness. There are times to switch TRC ON and time to turn OFF. This way you can take better control of the differential. So if you wanna have FUN or are running on the highway turn TRC OFF but running a tight corner race? I pass noobs consistently that leave TRC OFF all the time cuz they can't hold the corners.. TRC ON ftw here.. EVEN IF your pretty good with throttle control your not better than the TRC A.I CONSTANTLY SCANNING YOUR TELEMETRY.. and it's a limited slip TRC they use here on fh5 anyway so u can still burnout a little even with it ON.
