    Top Tip: If you buy all of the clothing options in “Customise Your Character” then they won’t appear in your Wheelspins/Super Wheelspins. This way you limit what clothes do appear to the ones locked which are far, far, less ones to turn up on Wherlspins thus increasing the chances of spinning up cars and cash.

    • @manicdan481
      @manicdan481 2 года назад +32

      That was one of my first thoughts too, then I saw the price for all the clothing and realized I was still broke. Once I buy a few cars I want to play with I will pick up all the common gear and let wheel spins pick up the expensive clothing

    Some more tips for learning how to drift: firstly turn off traction control in the assists menu, if your goal is to lose traction, turning this off goes a long long way. Another tip is to download a drift tune for a car that someone has made, these have had heavy changes to the suspension, gears, tires and differential to make it so much easier to drift with. Finally, any car can become a drift car with the right tune, but I still recommend starting with jdm cars, they a fan favourites for a reason and will all become amazing, well balanced drift cars.

      For drift zones what worked for me: Formula drift car, no assists, simulation, manual shifting. Keep it in third, get up the speed, start sliding and moderate the power with trigger. (don't do the keyboard, seriously). I set 3 stars on all on first try, was bit disappointed, at least in FH4 there were few challenging zones... When you get into it, make your own tune to suit your style. Camber and toe adjustments makes wonders, also shift breaking power to back and take the braking power down to help you out of hairy situations. Lock the diff. I made S1 old Merc SL and A800 1st gen Fairlady, both goes sideways like a charm, down the volcano 1mil score without an effort, even able to get some okay placement in open drift.

    For the drifting portion of this video it helps to mention some difficulty settings that will help a ton to drift, but will take some getting used to. Switch traction control and stability control to OFF, it will help get into and maintain a drift. If you also switch your shifting to manual instead of automatic that will be a big help, the higher the revs the easier it is to drift. The last thing is drift suspension and drift tire with high hp, it will help a ton even if you don't tweak the advanced tune settings. Hope these tips help!

  • @RealStuntPanda

    Pro Tip for drifting: go to settings, select difficulty, then turn off traction control and stability control. It's VERY difficult if you don't and super easy when you disable those settings. Lots of people also say to disable automatic shifting but with traction and stability disabled I haven't found disabling automatic shifting necessary. A LOT of people miss this simple fix for drifting.

      I'd recommend turning off auto shifting because in drift zones or anywhere you gain points for drifting a higher gear along with a couple other factors (speed, angle of your car, and maybe some others) will help get you a higher score.

      @noahhorwitz5644 2 года назад +1

      and when you get comfortable with manual, learning manual w/ clutch will make your drifting better, lap times faster, and most importantly you'll be having more fun! 1) about knocking difficulty placed XP/Fast travel boards. You just select a fast car, find a near hill, and then if you missed the XP board, you just use the Rewind option (Y button on xbox controller) until you tune the exact speed/turn to hit the board ;)
    2) For barn finds, the easiest way is to drive until the finding area, and then enter Drone mode, it's way easier to find it, especially when there are a lot of trees!

    • @JAfonsoNunesMartins10
      @JAfonsoNunesMartins10 3 года назад +4

      @@poppachoppa8956 All the cars have differentials, being AWD or not. AWD is different that a diff because it server other purposes, I'll explain below the differences.
      All Wheel Drive (AWD) only means that all the wheels are "connected" to the engine so when you press the throttle, power will be delivered to all of them. Rally cars and Offroad Veichles are the ones that benefit from it the most as they drive throught dirt and rocks and if they get a puncture or they get one wheel stuck, the other 3 will keep spinning and that gives better control of the veichle in rough conditions. Some high performance track cars also use it though, as in some cases it's faster on the track. In city it is also usefull in the rain or snow as it gives more traction.
      Examples: Subaru WRX STI, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, Ford Focus RS, almost all the Land Rovers, Jeep, etc.
      There's also Front Wheel Drive (FWD) which are usually the city cars and cheap SUVs like the Honda Civic or Toyota Prius. These cars arent fast so they don't need the advantage of AWD or RWD although some family cars are starting to implement AWD. The FWD system basically only makes your front wheels spin, this makes the maintenance easier and cheap but obviously isn't very fun to drive and on the racetrack has lot's of understeer but is safer.
      FInally the amazing Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) which is my favourite as this system can be both fun and fast in the track. These cars only spin the rear wheels when the throttle is pressed so they are great drift cars. Some of the most known RWD cars are the Toyota Supra, a lot of Ferraris, cheap sports cars like the Miata and BRZ, etc.
      Obviously this system is more dangerous to drive and this is why there's not many city cars with RWD, the rear can slide more and if you don't know how to correct it it might be dangerous.
      I hope I explained well, if you have more car related questions I'm happy to explain!

    Very good tips for beginners, and some for seasoned players as well. I'm a veteran of the Horizon franchise ever since 1, but there were still a few things I didn't quite know about until later in my play of FH5.
    For drifting, what I found to be the perfect fit is the 2003 Fairlady Z, fully modded, with drift tires, drift suspension, and drift differential. I didn't really mod the tuning too much, but using that car with no traction control, no stability control, and manual shifting locked into 4th gear, I was able to 3-star every drift zone relatively easily. You just have to learn throttle control and you'll nail it. And this is coming from someone who was a total noob at drifting up until a few months ago. XD

    For beginners, I’d recommend getting familiars enough with the game to turn off as many assists as you can. Turning off and learning how to drive without ABS, TC, or SC will make you faster that somebody with those assists on.

    • @monkeyman5105
      @monkeyman5105 2 года назад +1

      I agree that turning off Traction Control and Stability Control will make you better at racing and faster in general, however turning ABS off really isn't required. ABS is a good assist even in highly skilled difficulty. I would recommend instead trying to invest time into getting more used to manual shifting over automatic since it improves your control over the car, helps accelerate, and can be used to improve drifting (although that won't help in a race).

  • @schneir5

    I love drifting! Once you get the hang of all assists turned off and manual with clutch, drifting is my favorite thing in Forza. I spent hours trying to get 600k in Needle Climb in fh4 and it was so awesome when I finally did it and I got it on video too.
    The hardest part for me to get used to was simulation steering. I've been driving manual cars in real life for decades so that was easy and I was just happy that was an option so I've been using manual with clutch for a while, but changing to sim steering was like starting over again. It was so frustrating.
    I can try to give you some pointers if you want. Pretty much any formula drift car with a KenBlocksSohn tune should be good and pretty easy to use for drifting. I think my favorite is the #34 mk 4 FD Supra so far. Also be prepared for people to argue that it's not really drifting if you have all wheel drive 🙄

      1. Get a car that has a lot of modding potential (some cars may not have as many options yet since the game is brand new)
      2. Click search for a tune in the find a tune menu of the modification center and sort by the class you want and drift

      4. BE SURE TO TURN OF TRACTION AND STABILITY CONTROL

Cybersecurity PR professional perhaps. In any case, nice work because seriously it’s so overwhelming.

    Thanks man, I bought the Premium Edition early and was just overwhelmed and nothing made sense and I actually found this video after typing in the seach.."How to play Horizon 5". I just unlocked a second house and did some car upgrades. I play Forza Motorsport so the upgrade system is the exact same. But the way you explained it gave me direction. Thanks!!!

    I’m a Forza veteran and all these things are like second nature to me. But I find it absolutely fascinating to see how someone new to the franchise has to figure all this stuff out by themselves like you mentioned. I think that’s something use veterans don’t even think about. And honestly, you make some really valid points, I think the developers (Playground Games) could have done better in welcoming completely new-to-franchise players with some tutorials explaining all those trivial things like player level, XP, skill points and such. Even for us veterans some sort of tutorial about the special skills would come in handy. For example for future Forzathon events (that’s one tile of the festival playlist) you might need to do skills like wrecking ball, daredevil, hard charger etc. Some of them I know by heart, others I also have to Google on how exactly they trigger. This should have been an in-game info page in at least FH4 already (that’s the first game these festival playlists were introduced).

    For drifting one thing that may help a ton is to turn off your traction control and stability control as it will let the tires spin more and the the car won't correct as much. This is huge a huge adjustment and I love drifting in Forza once I figured that out.

    It was so satisfying getting the drive on all the roads achievement in horizon 3 that I did this achievement in this one right from the start. It gives an appreciation for the amount of detail the developers gave in making the game.

    I just wish there were more guides like this. All I see over youtube are driving tips or how to tune your car, which of course is helpful at some point, but all I really wanted was to first get to know all the in-game mechanics that the game itself does a poor job with explaining, might I add. Thank you for this video, it was just what I was looking for!

    ik im late (2 years to be exact) but the reason why you drift better without the ideal racing line is because the drift line is different from the race line. your brain has a hard time envisioning the drift line if there is a race line infront of your face.

    One thing that helped me (as a lover of old cars) was that many of the cars I wanted were best gotten from the Auction House, since they were either cheaper there (even at buyout prices) or just not available to purchase anywhere else (as they were unlocks somewhere else).
    So, have a look at the Auction House to see if your dream car is affordable there.

    small update for those who want to get better at drifting:
    in order to pick the right car for drifting: the car is preferrably a Rear Wheel Drive and you will se that stat on every car ( the tires that light up in the small icon at the car card ( bottom left ))
    RWD cars tend to drift way easyer and the principle of drifting requires that your rear wheels spin at a much faster speed than your vehicle's speed and start picking up traction bit by bit untill the car's wheel speed matches the vehicle speed. if you are at that point you are no longer drifting and you should shift to the next gear. if your car has enough power to spin its wheels at the higher speed then its good for you , else look for a more powerfull RWD car.
    second tip is for those who want to master drifting, i suggest you play the game with the " manual with clutch" setting .
    press the clutch, floor it , release the clutch and you'll be drifting shift up as your car's speed increases. a very good car for drifting is the BMW M3 E36, just install a race turbo , install drift suspension , drift tire compound and drift differential , that way second gear is a good gear for drifting and third gear will drift with the cluch method, fourth gear doesn't have the power to drift.
    Hope you find this a bit informative

    This was incredibly helpful and very well conveyed, many thanks for your effort and the video!
    FH5 is my first game of the series and while I'm loving it so far, it really is overwhelming.
    By the way, drifting is supposed to be easier when switching off some of the assistances in settings. I don't remember their exact names but traction control was one of them, I believe. I have to give this a go myself but it sounds logical that any assistance might dampen the drift effect by accident.

    Top Tip: For the Festival (Seasonal) Playlist events, make sure you click the right stick on you controller for the card you pick to do. This shows you the type and Performance Class rating of vehicle needed, or even the exact vehicle,;then hit Y on your vehicle inventory to filter the exact type and class to match the what you see on the card. One note of warning, whatever performance Class is shown, eg A 800 then you vehicle has to be A 800 exactly, not anything less than 800 - you won’t be awarded the Seasonal and Forzathon points if your vehicle type and Performance Class doesn’t exactly match what is shown on the card.
    PS: Save up your Forzathon points to get a high value vehicles. Don’t waste them buying Super Wherlspins, Wheelspins, clothing, emotes etc - those items are far easier to earn elsewhere in the game. Just use them for the high value vehicles

      Not true, you can use cars with less points than the shown there, it may be just more difficult to accomplish the objectives since your car will be weaker. What matters in the end is the class and the vehicle type.

    The formula drift cars are a great way to learn drifting without tuning vehicles.
    Also another tip when tuning change one thing and then test it to see what the change does . as changing to many things at once could drastically change the in game experience
