Hard to not give King Kong some respect here....he only fought Godzilla once(soon to be twice)...but the fact that King Kong is on a level that rivals Godzilla in prestige is important. King Kong vs Godzilla is what gave Toho total faith in the notion of matching Godzilla up against various other monsters. It birthed the "Versus" formula for giant monster movies.
One larva twin in Tokyo S.O.S was a Male. The staff nicknamed him Taro, while the female was named Hanako. I know this because of Wikizilla. An amazing website to learn about any kaiju. Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman( I think, don't remember), and King Kong.

You keep saying you find Destoroyah’s death anti-climatic, but I actually find it very satisfying because it’s one of the the very few times the anti-Kaiju units of the JDF in the Heisei era films actually succeed in killing the monster.

With strongest I mean that the Heisei Godzilla got his first power up by the nuclear submarine in Godzilla vs King Gidorah (which made him grow about 20 meters), then absorbed Rodans power (which made his atomic breath red/gold) and finally the nuclear explosion that sunk infant(?) island, that made him go into meltdown. No Godzilla yet had that many power ups and therefore was this strong (if you exclude non main movie iterations like comics or Godzilla earth), yet Destroyah still had a fighting chance against him.

With Destroyah... I feel I have to explain his defeat everywhere I go. Of course the human's finished him off. He was on death's door already thanks to Burning Godzilla's Infinite Spiral Heat Ray. He was literally trying to escape Godzilla when the human's blasted him with the freeze weapons... Which his battered body was unable to withstand at that point. It is basically like someone getting mugged for like 10 mins straight and laying on the ground afterwards, bleeding everywhere and barely hanging on too life as the mugger runs away with his money. Just to have a random person walk by a moment later hit him once in the head with a board or something to finish him off. One: Of course he'd die from that final attack. Two: It would still be mostly a victory for the mugger; and in Destroyah's case, Godzilla. To say Godzilla didn't basically kill Destroyah would be like saying Lebron James and a random dude off the street going 2 on 2 against 2 NBA bench warmers... Stay with me on this... Ummm let's say Lebron goes off on the bench warmers and scores all the points until the very end of the game, taking a huge 20 point lead. At the last moment the dude off the street makes his first and only shot just a few seconds before the game ends and him and Lebron win. But; astoundingly, everyone rushes to the dude off the street and praises him as if he had carried the game and won it all by himself. Meanwhile Lebron is shaking his head because he literally had to do all the work. That's what it's like to say Godzilla didn't beat Destroyah. lol.
You're missing the point, no ones saying Godzilla didn't do most of the work but when you go to a boxing match and it's towards the end and then some random person buts in and gets the final blow it's not as satisfying. I would also argue that none of the damage really comes across for Destroyah. Godzilla takes so much damage in that fight, it's visceral and you can see it. Destroyah doesn't look like he's at deaths door at the end. He looks like he did at the start of the fight and then the humans just take him out. You can reason all you want that Godzilla did most of the damage, because yeah he's Godzilla, but that we're not seeing that. Movies are visual you shouldn't have to reason outside of the film, you should feel it. Especially cause the movie does a great job at doing that with the damage for Godzilla and Godzilla Jr, but then not for Destroyah.
@@massmananable What? It is visualized. Destroyah spits out blood. Destroyah's chest armor bursts open. And Burning Godzilla punches at the broken pieces. Destroyah even explodes. He manages to regenerate to survive but the damage is done. Then at the end when Burning Godzilla is blasting him with his Infinite Heat Ray Destroyah's head crest shatters and it looks like Destroyah's power kinda breaks and sprays out as he screams in agony. Plenty of visualization too me. If that's not enough for you I'm sorry.

I’m surprised that Giant Condor isn’t on this list, being one of the only monsters to fight both Godzilla and King Kong! So its obvious that he will be the secret antagonist of GVK.
As much as I love watching various kaiju do their stuff, one aspect of the films is frequently overlooked. These films present us with an awful lot of of rather beautiful Japanese actresses that westerners might never otherwise see on film. Many of these lovely ladies are quite good at their craft. I for one very much enjoy Japanese cinema, and one reason are its leading ladies. Who can forget Mia Hama or Akiko Wakabayashi.
My favorites are Mothra, King Ghidorah, Anguirus, Rodan, & Biollante. Manda is fun, too, in Final Wars. My least favorite is Destroyah because it's so terrifying and repulsive!!! (Which I guess why it's so effective!!)

Out of all his enemies, my 2 favorite monsters who are known as foes to Godzilla are, Mothra and King Ghiidorah.. The one thing that isn't mentioned about King Ghidorah is that in Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster, his name wasn't Ghidorah but Ghidra.. I know because I have been watching Godzilla movies since I was 6 years old. That's 53 years of watching these movies as I am now 59 years old and I still never grow tired of these movies. I even got my 29 year old daughter hooked on these movies as well. We both loved Godzilla: King of the monsters Yes, they killed off King Ghidorah in this last film, but who is to say he won't return? I read somewhere that during the credits, they show someone giving Jonah Alan one of the heads of King Ghidorah. So he still may return. What cracks me up is the way the center head is always picking on the head on his left, the one some call Kevin.

There's so many great kaiju, but next to Godzilla himself, Megalon has long been my favorite of the bunch. I really don't know why, honestly. Perhaps it's his ridiculous yet cool design, his array of powers and the teen-years nostalgia of Godzilla Unleashed, as I duked it out against my brother with him almost as often as the G-Man. I have a soft spot for the likes of Mothra, King Ghidorah, Anguirus, Destoroyah, Baragon, Jet Jaguar and several others too, but the drill beetle just scratches the right itch for me, I guess. 😁
One could argue King Ghidorah WON the final battle in MONSTER ZERO! Ghidorah flew off but Godzilla and Rodan were MIA! (Down for the count under the sea, perhaps?)
#5 King Ghidorah #4 Mecha Godzilla 3 #3 Godzilla(Still the King of the Monsters)(His Final Wars design was perfection) #2 Mothra(Queen of the Monsters)(Also looked perfect in Final Wars) #1 Gigan. He's a skilled fighter, he'll make you suffer, and he's got two awesome designs(Finals Wars being the better of the two). His personality is great. Whoever he's with, he can make any interaction worth watching. He's a psychopath who's good at strategizing fights. I love how the aliens basically sent Gigan to babysit Megalon. Not only one of my favorite villains of all time, but my favorite Kaiju of all time.
Would love to see a review of the Mothra Trilogy some time, to see your take on it. Sure, they're clearly movies meant for kids, but they're not bad, and Mothra Leo gets pretty darn powerful. Plus, more King Ghidorah. xD

My favorite Godzilla kaiju is Gorosaurus. Even though he may seem to be just a big dinosaur, he is much more than that. I love his unique design - his angular head, his spiny armored back and tail, his bright red throat pouch, and his unique kangaroo feet. I'd argue he is even more simplistic and natural than Anguirus who received the ability to roll into a ball in 2004, and even more underutilized than Megalon. He has had only two appearances: first as a sized-up dinosaur for King Kong to fight in King Kong Escapes (1967) and as a main kaiju character in Destroy All Monsters! (1968). Having now mentioned the kangaroo feet and his most famous appearance, I must say that one of the aspects that makes Gorosaurus so underappreciated is that, along with Godzilla and Anguirus, he is one of the three monsters that did the most to kill Ghidorah in 1999 (1968). The kangaroo kick is a unique and unorthodox move, theoretically as iconic as the similarly unique and unorthodox boomerang weapon that is Ultraseven's Eye Slugger, but sadly not nearly as popular. As much as Anguirus is brave and determined, so is Gorosaurus, but unlike Anguirus who has never achieved victory, Gorosaurus' devastating kangaroo kick to Ghidorah's back in Destroy All Monsters! (1968) is arguably one of the most - if not /the/ most significant strike to defeating the three-headed interstellar tyrant. While Minilla, Godzilla, and Anguirus took out the three heads which ultimately killed Ghidorah, Gorosaurus was the one who brought Ghidorah to the ground for them - something that took the combined might of Godzilla and Rodan to accomplish in 1965. Gorosaurus is a badass despite everything - from lacking powers, to lacking screen time, to lacking popularity - going against him. He is my favorite Godzilla kaiju.

Fun fact the Dorat's were originally meant to be cloned from the carcass of an alien Ghidorah in space. While not in the movie it was in the novel version and the original plans for the sequel would have followed things up as the alien Ghidorah would've turned out to be alive and squared off against Godzilla hence the original title "The Return of King Ghidorah". Mothra replaced him as she was the most popular monsters among women according to polls.
I have watched all of godzilla movies. One of the scary ones was the one with this bug that ate humans and then had thousands of babies on the side of this building that looked scary as hell. My favorite one was space godzilla which killed the present day godzilla's mom (which looked cool because she was already dying and had cracks in her that was glowing hot orange and red. My second favorite was Gamera because he could fly and was a challenge for godzilla.
No matter the rating on this list, Hedorah is still one of my favorites because Hedorah actually scared the crap out of me when I was a little kid, something that no other kaiju has ever done for me.

King ghidorah is my favourite, any kaiju that is malicious and evil earns a place in my heart, if something has those two traits and is likeable, I usually love them. I notice that you had toho’s big five (five most liked kaiju including Godzilla) in your list, not surprising, they are all in my top 10 as well.
Gigan was in the novel preluding to Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters where he was an organic sea-creature that that they forced to fight Godzilla. After each loss they enhanced him cybernetically untill Godzilla destroyed him completely.
I feel like an underrated kaiju would be orga. He’s such an interesting monster that I think is pushed aside. The idea of aliens who copy the abilities of other creatures by taking their dna I think is great. Also his design is very cool looking. It looked like that he was inspired by the rancor from Star Wars. Godzilla 2000 was also the real first godzilla movie I ever watched

To say Godzilla didn't basically kill Destroyah would be like saying Lebron James and a random dude off the street going 2 on 2 against 2 NBA bench warmers... Stay with me on this... Ummm let's say Lebron goes off on the bench warmers and scores all the points until the very end of the game, taking a huge 20 point lead. At the last moment the dude off the street makes his first and only shot just a few seconds before the game ends and him and Lebron win. But; astoundingly, everyone rushes to the dude off the street and praises him as if he had carried the game and won it all by himself. Meanwhile Lebron is shaking his head because he literally had to do all the work. That's what it's like to say Godzilla didn't beat Destroyah. lol.
You're missing the point, no ones saying Godzilla didn't do most of the work but when you go to a boxing match and it's towards the end and then some random person buts in and gets the final blow it's not as satisfying. I would also argue that none of the damage really comes across for Destroyah. Godzilla takes so much damage in that fight, it's visceral and you can see it. Destroyah doesn't look like he's at deaths door at the end. He looks like he did at the start of the fight and then the humans just take him out. You can reason all you want that Godzilla did most of the damage, because yeah he's Godzilla, but that we're not seeing that. Movies are visual you shouldn't have to reason outside of the film, you should feel it. Especially cause the movie does a great job at doing that with the damage for Godzilla and Godzilla Jr, but then not for Destroyah.
@@massmananable What? It is visualized. Destroyah spits out blood. Destroyah's chest armor bursts open. And Burning Godzilla punches at the broken pieces. Destroyah even explodes. He manages to regenerate to survive but the damage is done. Then at the end when Burning Godzilla is blasting him with his Infinite Heat Ray Destroyah's head crest shatters and it looks like Destroyah's power kinda breaks and sprays out as he screams in agony. Plenty of visualization too me. If that's not enough for you I'm sorry.

As much as I love watching various kaiju do their stuff, one aspect of the films is frequently overlooked. These films present us with an awful lot of of rather beautiful Japanese actresses that westerners might never otherwise see on film. Many of these lovely ladies are quite good at their craft. I for one very much enjoy Japanese cinema, and one reason are its leading ladies. Who can forget Mia Hama or Akiko Wakabayashi.
My favorites are Mothra, King Ghidorah, Anguirus, Rodan, & Biollante. Manda is fun, too, in Final Wars. My least favorite is Destroyah because it's so terrifying and repulsive!!! (Which I guess why it's so effective!!)

Out of all his enemies, my 2 favorite monsters who are known as foes to Godzilla are, Mothra and King Ghiidorah.. The one thing that isn't mentioned about King Ghidorah is that in Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster, his name wasn't Ghidorah but Ghidra.. I know because I have been watching Godzilla movies since I was 6 years old. That's 53 years of watching these movies as I am now 59 years old and I still never grow tired of these movies. I even got my 29 year old daughter hooked on these movies as well. We both loved Godzilla: King of the monsters Yes, they killed off King Ghidorah in this last film, but who is to say he won't return? I read somewhere that during the credits, they show someone giving Jonah Alan one of the heads of King Ghidorah. So he still may return. What cracks me up is the way the center head is always picking on the head on his left, the one some call Kevin.

I seem to like the more underrated kaiju mostly.
There's so many great kaiju, but next to Godzilla himself, Megalon has long been my favorite of the bunch. I really don't know why, honestly. Perhaps it's his ridiculous yet cool design, his array of powers and the teen-years nostalgia of Godzilla Unleashed, as I duked it out against my brother with him almost as often as the G-Man. I have a soft spot for the likes of Mothra, King Ghidorah, Anguirus, Destoroyah, Baragon, Jet Jaguar and several others too, but the drill beetle just scratches the right itch for me, I guess. 😁
One could argue King Ghidorah WON the final battle in MONSTER ZERO! Ghidorah flew off but Godzilla and Rodan were MIA! (Down for the count under the sea, perhaps?)

Whoever he's with, he can make any interaction worth watching. He's a psychopath who's good at strategizing fights. I love how the aliens basically sent Gigan to babysit Megalon. Not only one of my favorite villains of all time, but my favorite Kaiju of all time.

My favorite Godzilla kaiju is Gorosaurus. Even though he may seem to be just a big dinosaur, he is much more than that. I love his unique design - his angular head, his spiny armored back and tail, his bright red throat pouch, and his unique kangaroo feet. I'd argue he is even more simplistic and natural than Anguirus who received the ability to roll into a ball in 2004, and even more underutilized than Megalon. He has had only two appearances: first as a sized-up dinosaur for King Kong to fight in King Kong Escapes (1967) and as a main kaiju character in Destroy All Monsters! (1968). Having now mentioned the kangaroo feet and his most famous appearance, I must say that one of the aspects that makes Gorosaurus so underappreciated is that, along with Godzilla and Anguirus, he is one of the three monsters that did the most to kill Ghidorah in 1999 (1968). The kangaroo kick is a unique and unorthodox move, theoretically as iconic as the similarly unique and unorthodox boomerang weapon that is Ultraseven's Eye Slugger, but sadly not nearly as popular. As much as Anguirus is brave and determined, so is Gorosaurus, but unlike Anguirus who has never achieved victory, Gorosaurus' devastating kangaroo kick to Ghidorah's back in Destroy All Monsters! (1968) is arguably one of the most - if not /the/ most significant strike to defeating the three-headed interstellar tyrant. While Minilla, Godzilla, and Anguirus took out the three heads which ultimately killed Ghidorah, Gorosaurus was the one who brought Ghidorah to the ground for them - something that took the combined might of Godzilla and Rodan to accomplish in 1965. Gorosaurus is a badass despite everything - from lacking powers, to lacking screen time, to lacking popularity - going against him. He is my favorite Godzilla kaiju.

Fun fact the Dorat's were originally meant to be cloned from the carcass of an alien Ghidorah in space. While not in the movie it was in the novel version and the original plans for the sequel would have followed things up as the alien Ghidorah would've turned out to be alive and squared off against Godzilla hence the original title "The Return of King Ghidorah". Mothra replaced him as she was the most popular monsters among women according to polls.
I have watched all of godzilla movies.
One of the scary ones was the one with this bug that ate humans and then had thousands of babies on the side of this building that looked scary as hell.
My favorite one was space godzilla which killed the present day godzilla's mom (which looked cool because she was already dying and had cracks in her that was glowing hot orange and red.
My second favorite was Gamera because he could fly and was a challenge for godzilla.
No matter the rating on this list, Hedorah is still one of my favorites because Hedorah actually scared the crap out of me when I was a little kid, something that no other kaiju has ever done for me.

Gigan was in the novel preluding to Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters where he was an organic sea-creature that that they forced to fight Godzilla. After each loss they enhanced him cybernetically untill Godzilla destroyed him completely.

I feel like an underrated kaiju would be orga. He’s such an interesting monster that I think is pushed aside. The idea of aliens who copy the abilities of other creatures by taking their dna I think is great. Also his design is very cool looking. It looked like that he was inspired by the rancor from Star Wars. Godzilla 2000 was also the real first godzilla movie I ever watched
