- From their new album, "Sonic Highways," Foo Fighters perform "Something From Nothing."
Foo Fighters with Rick Nielsen - Something From Nothing -
Late Show With David Letterman
Getting a band to sound good in studio is one thing, but if they can play live like that then it's the ultimate respect
Such an underrated Foo's song. And Dave's voice is incredible here. One of his best vocal performances of any song.
Yeah, this was a top-tier vocal performance.
Who says it’s underrated 🤦♂️
@@johnphillipsjr7238 No songs from Sonic Highways on the last best of, and i can't believe that they put 2 from Medicine at midnight
Dude, i love FF and Dave. But this is not half of how the studio version sounds. He struggles to hit the high notes almost everytime. It's kinda the point, but that's not "incredible"
The last thing David Letterman did before saying his final 'Good Night' was have the Foo Fighters play Everlong. It was incredible.
I was on a nine-hour flight to Amsterdam shortly after 'Sonic Highways' was released and it was available to listen to on the plane's sound system (Virgin Atlantic 777 I think). After a couple of minutes of 'Something from Nothing' I was standing in the aisle playing air guitar. Couldn't help myself. Just pure Rock 'n Roll brilliance. And what a performance on Letterman. Amazing sound.
That vocal performance in live is out of this world... dave grohl is a beast
David Letterman and the Foo Fighters = The Best!
The combo is always exceptional!
Epic ending. It makes your hair stand on end. It is rock.
Yeah! this is one helluva rock song!
The bass is amazingggg
I was scrolling down searching a comment like this, amazing bass indeed.
@@nicolastejeira6694 Nate is hella underrated, he’s got some awesome bass lines, my favourite is white limo, it absolutely thumps.
This is one of my favorite Foo songs. I love it! I loved that entire album and I wish they played “Something from Nothing” at every show like they do all their other hits.
Kickass performance
You are so right!! :)
I like how Dave is wearing the exact same denim jacket he wore in the Letterman show in 2008 when they played The Pretender
Dave don't ever change.
Right Dave is the MAN!
Man - Dave Grohl can really put on a great show. He had some head stuff going on like the grunge days. Great song and they are great playing live. I'm surprised this hasn't gotten more views.
I am surprised there aren't more views AND comments. I have been surfing around for Foo Fighters live performances since January and more so now since we can't see them in this iteration anymore. Taylor was lost to us two weeks after I bought my tickets for the July show in NYC. This performance slaps and it has taken 6 months to show up in my feed🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️

Just love this performance
Holy shit thats how it's done everyone..🤯🤯thats one of the best screams iv ever heard at the end.😁👏
Nice to see Ryan Reynolds on slide guitar
Oh My God!! And they did this live! Foo fighters blow my mind
Such a great performance as always! It was no surprise that Ric Nielsen was going to be performing when you see all his picks lined up on his mic stand! Need lots to throw into the audience. I have 2 picks myself from Ric throwing them into the crowd! Prized possessions!
How lucky I feel to have this sweeet music and Awesome band in my lifetime! Fills me with excitement makes me fly than all of sudden filled with sadness thinking there will be no more😢 Taylor had exceptional life one I could only dream of. I adore these guys! Dave Grohl 3 words Genius humble and talented! I know he will continue on his path wherever this life takes him. Thanks for ride guys
This song is so fuckin powerful.. And I would have never seen this band live with Taylor Hawkins.. So sad when I think about it one of my all time favorite bands. Incredible performance...
Still amazing!!!
Woh I'm amazed that Letterman loves them so much he's gushing with superlatives! Actually no surprise :) He's seen Taylor when Morisette did her TV debut in 1995 on his show followed same year with the Foo Fighters. Thank you for this, gr8 performance
Letterman's "Worldwide Pants" financially backed Foo Fighters' "Sonic Highways" project. THAT's more than love....that was faith in Dave Grohl's idea. And that week of live FF music was epic! Check out "Stacked Actors" to have your mind blown.
What can I say? I just love them!!!
No me canso de ver esta presentación.
This is like one of their best live performances I have seen from them
That was kick ass for sure!
BRAVOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wow!!!!!!!!!

Give me the flammable light
I'm cold as a match, ready to strike
So, here I go
Here lies a city on fire
Singing along
The arsonist choir
Now, here I go
It started with a spark
And burning to the dark
Now, here I go
There is a river I've found
Into the wild
Under the ground
So, here I go
A button on a string
And I heard everything
Now here I go
Oh, sweet ignition, be my fuse
You have no choice, you have to choose
Bid farewell to yesterday
Say goodbye, I'm on my way
But in the end, we all
Come from what's come before
So, here I go
Oh, sweet ignition, be my fuse
You have no choice, you have to choose
Bid farewell to yesterday
Say goodbye, I'm on my way
I threw it all away because
I had to be what never was
Been so hungry I could lie
Took my word, I took your wine
And held you in my bloody hands
These rattled bones and rubber bands
Washed them in the muddy water
Looking for a dime and found a quarter
But you can't make me change my name
You'll never make me change my name
Pay no mind, now, ain't that something?
Fuck it all, I came from nothing
I'm something from nothing
You are my fuse
I'm something from nothing
You are my fuse
It goes oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
It goes oh, oh, oh
Alright
No, you can't make me change my name
You'll never make me change my name
Pay no mind, now, ain't that something?
Fuck it all, I came from nothing
I'm something
From nothing
I'm something
From nothing
perfect sound legibility, thank you!
This was good but kinda missing somethin. Oh I guess its needs 5th guitar.
Topsy Kreets No, the problem was the Cris and Patt didnt do the think they usually do in the disco. Or may be just didnt have enought sound
@@xavi2518 yes they didnt do the little solos that are present in the cd.
Its because the song is played with single finger notes. Not chords

You can hear Edgar Winter's, "Frankenstein" influence.
And "Holy Diver" by Dio

Dave, the 70's called...It wants it denim back.
2:52 Damn after that
🤟🤟🤟.
They didn't even put the camera on Chris when he was playing the solo 😭 whyyy
Does Pat actually play ?
Everyone complaining about Dave wearing denim... You want to see a fashion statement, hit the runway shows.. You want to see a great show.. Stay tuned for the Fighters... 😂😍🤘🎸 He could have worn a sac for potatoes and it wouldn't have made that last scream any less sexy... Jus' sayin'.. 😜
It’s called a Canadian Tuxedo. He looked great to me! Dave can do no wrong in my eyes 🤘
Yeah it’s music not a fashion show! Real rock fans don’t give a shit what a musician wears!
He IS Dave Grohl DAMMIT. He can wear what he damn well likes!
look vocalis from indonesian "ELLO" maybe he is brother from vocalis FF
Rick Nielson must have jumped outta Pat's ass.
Daves attempt of a Band on the Run tune?
Oh my god! Fu*#!
Hola diver riff
4 fucking guitars 😱😱😱
Why he keep saying suck it all? 😒
Building of this song is great
It was on network TV, which doesn't allow the real lyric.
FUCK IT ALLL
wtf is Dave Grohl using a Fender Hot Rod Deville?
Guess what this song is, it is called Something From Nothing.
Zaeden Hillenbrand thanks Sherlock Holmes for that incredibly difficult discovery.
Queefy
Never go full denim Dave... never
Is Dave wearing fake eye lashes, sorry you will never un-see this!
