It's a strange thing, being in the audience of a taped show like this. We were watching the show, but we were also reminded that we were part of the show. The audience handlers were eager for us to bring a lot of energy, which may be why so many felt compelled to clap throughout the song. I don't recall for sure, but I suspect there may have been some encouragement to stay seated. The second Bono motions for us to get out of our seats near the end of the song, I was right there, as was everyone else around me. It was a unique treat.
I dig the way they mixed this. Adam’s bass is significantly more prominent than it typically is in this song. I like it better like this. Gives it a completely different vibe.
David proved he know his U2 by saying "Feedback" as he outros them!!! He wasn't just referring to the speakers, he knows that was an earlier band name, bravo!
I just watched the documentary. Great job ❤ Loved it. I want to visit Ireland 😉 I'm glad I was able to see this amazing band LIVE in concert three times ❤ I have to add that my favorite part of the documentary was everyone singing together at the pub ❤ So cool that other talented musicians and singers were included 👍🏼🎶 I love you Dave ❤
I've been a U2 fan since seeing The Tomorrow Show w Tom Snyder in June 1981. The show started at 1am, there were alot of fans in the studio, that made alot of noise. They played, 'I Will Follow' It was eye-opening
On a much smaller scale, Bono and Edge’s acoustic performance (in tribute to Michael Hutchence) of “Stuck In a Moment” from the guest seats next to Letterman, was just as powerful, in my mind.
i actually enjoy i'll go crazy if i don't go crazy tonight from a different day of this week of shows, hopefully we get a higher quality version of that soon. best performance of that underrated song.
I was 16-17 years old back in 2000 in Berlin, Germany, when I first saw the music video on TV. Changed my life forever. I am just grateful that I can even write this comment. We've all grown up. God bless yall.

It would be great if the official channel could upload performances of Tell Me Why and Fool 1 that the Mavericks performed on the show in 1999 as an autistic music fan I have really missed the performances since they left RUclips
@Barry Obama Yes, but this is a special U2 film, not on Dave’s Netflix series. I expect, therefore, to never see it. See the video on the Jimmy Kimmel Show channel from last night when Dave was a guest.
Thinking of using this very click link to explain in an essay sent out before the Ist how I as an Italian feel about the dying of the praetor who was against Clinton and Mario Cuomo. Who abandons the praetorium Blessedly not like Lyndon but more like Nick Sabine. Look it up. A shame you're not on tonight as it would be more like Paar, or at least you knew who he was.
Sometimes if you look carefully you can see their keyboard player hidden away behind them. This time he was either well sequestered or they used a tape.
Obviously they use a backing track, where do you think the piano, drum machine and strings come from? They've used them since 1984, they don't hide it.
Mr. Letterman is so damn fake. Unlike spontaneous, funny, with great sense of humor, very nice to everyone...Graham Norton....Letterman looks like he just wait to finish the work as quickly as possible and go home. Sometimes, I remember, he was so rude to his guest. Seems like he thinks that asking rude questions to guests is cool. The guy is a pure fake. The only thing worth there are his guests. The best one ever was Eminem, who said this right into his face.
Please retire your comment. If you're going to think a video of a performance from FOURTEEN YEARS AGO, in 2009, from a show that *hasn't existed since 2015* is NEW, there are much better options for you; like apparently knowing what year you're living in.
Such an amazing moment when Bono cheers the crowd to stand up.... There were people seating and jumping on their seats! amazing!
With the wave of a hand he changes it from a theater to a club! That crowd was ready to explode. So great.
Irish rock & roll
As an old white guy, it was nostalgic.

U2 fan since 1980. Lots of beautiful days since then!!!
I dig the way they mixed this. Adam’s bass is significantly more prominent than it typically is in this song. I like it better like this. Gives it a completely different vibe.
Probably because he's using a Jazz here. He recorded the album version with a Precision, which might be why it's more subdued in that mix.
Better than the album version!
David proved he know his U2 by saying "Feedback" as he outros them!!! He wasn't just referring to the speakers, he knows that was an earlier band name, bravo!
They mentioned the name in the interview prior to this, actually.
It is a beautiful day when I hear Bono sing, Great band
U2 is a wonderful band to experience live. The Ed Sullivan theater was a great venue in which to hear them. Thanks for posting this!
I appreciate your choices, they are so emotional, I love them all, but especially Edge.
Amazing band. There is nothing left to say. I am happy to be their fan since I remember.
May bands never die!!
This song always brightens up my day. The best band ever! 🔥
No Line on the Horizon... an underrated masterpiece....
Glad I’m not the only one who likes it- massively overhated
Agreed!
the unsung hero here is the studio audience continuing to clap, IN TIME
The world needs another U2 album asap.

What documentary?
@@medsubway It's on the Disney's channel. It's called "Bono & The Edge - A Sort of Homecoming - with David Letterman".
he mentions Joey Ramone cause joey was listening to the song "in a little while" from that album when he died.
Joey and bono great vocals men
Cant be coincidence
Nice nod to the Ramones and the Beatles! Well done, Bono.

Great! Please upload the other U2 performances!
Blessed❤
Thank you so much for sharing your art!💓
Love you guys!😘🇨🇮
Love from🇧🇷
Saw them twice Elevation tour must say one of the best concerts I've been to !
Nice ! One of my favorites. I remember the time U2 was the featured "Saturday Night Concert" on MTV in 1982 ? 1983 ? Great Times all.
Thanks Dave
Best performance at the Letterman era Ed Sullivan Theater... EVER!
On a much smaller scale, Bono and Edge’s acoustic performance (in tribute to Michael Hutchence) of “Stuck In a Moment” from the guest seats next to Letterman, was just as powerful, in my mind.

hardly. Got to love the taped backing vocals...
It's good but not "Future Islands - Waiting On You" good❕👍

The heart is a bloom
Shoots up through the stony ground
There's no room
No space to rent in this town
You're out of luck
And the reason that you had to care
The traffic is stuck
And you're not moving anywhere
You thought you'd found a friend
To take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand
In return for grace
It's a beautiful day
Sky falls, you feel like
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
You're on the road
But you've got no destination
You're in the mud
In the maze of her imagination
You love this town
Even if that doesn't ring true
You've been all over
And it's been all over you
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
It's a beautiful day (Oooh, ooh)
Touch me
Take me to that other place
Teach me love
I know I'm not a hopeless case
See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the Bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light
And see the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colors came out
Day, Day
Day, Day
It was a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
Beautiful day
Touch me
Take me to that other place
Reach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case
What you don't have, you don't need it now
What you don't know, you can feel it somehow
What you don't have, you don't need it now
Don't need it now
Was a beautiful day
it is actually a Beautiful Day at Lk Texoma, finally! little windy, but nice 😉
U2 🇧🇷
I've never seen them, but I have no doubt its a religious experience for anybody who has.
I have seen them and it was an religious experience indeed
Close at least, seen them 10 times live, they always deliver.
There are bands, and then there is U2. True professionals!
3:47 😊
Just to see the ones in the audience that are "my" age going "all in"!!!
感動
Brazil love Ramones , U2.

After listening to Songs of Surrender this ordinary version of BD sounds somehow... aggresive :)
Makes me think back to Match of the Day
You mean The Big Match Live?
@@MrEchoes1962 No, Match of the Day was a show here in the UK

Damn that was great…look at the S that’s out there now.

Why did they play Beautiful day when promoting No Line on the horizon? Great song but not from that album
If I recall, they were residents for the week and did a couple hits each night.
세월이 미워라~
Is Letterman still a TV show host?❤
🤗✌️👏🤩👍😊
Who switch The Edge pedals ????
Dallas Schoo? He’d be somewhere just offstage I’m sure.
5:20 he walks in and Edge hands him the guitar.
HOW IN THE WORLD CAN THEY KEEP THEIR ASSES ON THEIR SEATS

Promoting No Line On The Horizon while playing Beautiful Day? About right.
A decent enough song thoroughly ruined by people clapping along horribly on every beat for no reason.
Haven’t you heard, watching U2 is a religious experience! 😂
I get where you’re coming from. But I would advise not going to a concert because people get crazy weird. I respect the music.
Did U2 pass away? It freaks me out when Dave or Johnny post videos of famous people
no Dave hosted a special on HBO with Bono and the Edge, comes out soon.

He wasn't performing like a band member at all here.

No Line in the Horizon is so bad, they sell it by performing a song from nine years before.
Hipocrites... 😁
