There was an interview where someone asked if Taylor Hawkins was the best drummer in Rock and Roll. The person responded with “I am not sure Taylor is even the best drummer in the Foo Fighters”. I thought that was hilarious. RIP Taylor.

Taylor always visited drum shops all over the world when he was on the road, and would buy gear for whatever kids were in the store. He did this at the drum shop I was teaching at in Denver. I’m not talking about a pair of sticks. He’d drop a few grand on cymbal packs and snares. He never forgot where he came from. He was one of us.

Once saw an interview where he said that it has always been his number 1 plan. Even back when he wasn't that good at playing drums, doing shit jobs for horrible bands, he felt going on stage that he was gonna slap the fuck out of those drums so people would notice him and think im definately going back to him again.

Last Winter Dave came to the bar I bartend in Seattle, which is a very well-known 24hr dive bar and diner for metal heads, punks, and the like. I asked Dave if he would mind taking a group photo with my guys in the kitchen that are huge fans. Not only did he say yes, but he seemed genuinely stoked to. He was without a doubt the nicest celebrity/musician, and just person in general that I've ever met. He took the time to talk to everyone about life, fatherhood (he gave some warm and hilarious fatherly words of wisdom to my cook that was about to have his first child), music, and we all had a blast chatting. Such a lovely, talented guy.

I was at the show in Sweden. Left my dad at the back of the venue and made my way to the front of the stage. Remember feeling heartbroken when he fell - turned into the best night of my life. I’m glad he enjoyed it despite the accident. That moment is a once in a lifetime.

It’s a weird feeling to see everyone commenting about Taylor. It’s cool to see how much we love him, but sad because we always say, “I love you” an hour and a day after it’s too late. But he was a legend and one of history’s best drummers (even if it’s only in my eyes). Even though I never met him, I’m gonna miss him.
I got to hang out with Taylor a few times. His cover band played at one of my bar and grill customers in Burbank. Taylor was kind, humble, happy and so cool. I helped him load and unload his drums and cymbals, we talked gear, kids, rock and roll dreams, and food. He even called me "Food Guy" and would holler from the stage "what's good to eat here food guy?" I will always remember just how cool, calm, and happy he was. He still inspires me to be the same.

Watching this after listening to HOURS upon HOURS of the Foo Fighters in tribute of Taylor. I can't stop smiling watching EVERYONE but Taylor air drum. Even Dave.... Once a drummer, always a drummer. God Taylor was fucking cool. I was at Billie Eilish's concert on March 25th, 2022 in Seattle when she told us all about Taylor's passing.
I instantly thought with tears going down my face that night, was that Dave was a drummer who lost his front man and a front man that lost his drummer. Losing two iconic musicians in one lifetime as Dave has, is too much heartbreak to bear. RIP Taylor. You will forever be missed.

Ben Wieneke, the dislocated ankle story is the most rock n roll thing ever; I dislocated my ankle in the 8th grade & it was the 2nd most painful experience of my life, 1st was when the doc snapped it back in place.
I remember listening to them in 95, they are one of the few rock bands to age gracefully and still retain some relevence in modern music

Exactly, Pat wasn't technically a band member, he was a touring musician, not a full time job. Praise him though. :)

Majin2606 his best friend died a horribly tragic death at a young age. That's not something you get over.
I think Dave had to pick himself up largely due to the fact that his talent would not allow him to stay complacent,but looking back he will never forget Kurt or the magical mystery ride they took into the hearts of all Nirvana fans.
Kinda sucks that anywhere he goes, Nirvana always comes up. And it was one of the greats and saddest moments of his life, I believe.
i dont think its sadness. I mean hes just not allowed to move past it. if youre dad dies, and then for the next 30 years every other day someone comes up and says hey man i was such a huge fan of youre dad can we talk about it, cause every fan had to coupe themselves to some degree.... its really a strange situation.
I loved Nirvana and was wrecked when Kurt died, but I think the Foo Fighters are a better band, and I no longer think of Nirvana when I see Dave.
Dave Grohl is the coolest person we have on the planet right now historically regarding to music.

@@emmettcoop1 Paul was literally the first thing that popped in my head after reading the original comment. Glad to see you thought the same! But also, Mick Jagger, Ozzy, Brian May? I mean don't get me wrong, I love Dave. He's def top 10. He's told in an interview a story of Paul happening to be in the same studio working right next door, coming in and jamming (and recorded) with them and Dave said he couldn't be more star struck.
