The thing with HL2 Beta is that, even if you destroy the combine, the air would still be polluted and the world would never be the same. At least with retail HL2 you have what you need to rebuild a portion of what the world once was. But with HL2 Beta you just can't. I feel like the style of HL2 Beta impacts the player more when it comes to showing them what they caused with the Black Mesa Incident.
This feels distant, not only through distance, but it feels like an echo of something that's either been gone a long time or about to disappear, both at the same time. It makes you feel like you just missed something, were just too late to witness some last party
It sounds more like a funeral from far away, which I guess fits the earlier themes of HL2 (iirc, there was a lot of symbolism within the 2002 version, I.E the oil stained breen statue representing how breen really feels about how the combine ruining the earth)
I like to imagine Dr. Breen owns a private club where he brings his combine soldiers somewhere in the citadel or city 17 and this is the song that plays there
The picture for this video coupled with the music evokes a feeling in me I struggle to describe, sort of like a nostalgia for something I never experienced or felt. It looks like somebody has taken a picture of a scan from a book, like one of those old PRIMA game guides. One of those cases where the music perfectly matches the vibe of the image in a video.
yesterday this song randomly started playing in my head and fortunately I have a good enough memory to remember that it's from half life 2 beta and afters hours of researching I found it, totally worth it
Not sure but someone said that this sound was supposed to be played in the hallways of the Consuls office, neat, however, i dont know where op got the information from so yeab
@@EliVance2025 Pitch: [Let the speed change it] Speed: x1.3-x2.0 It will sound like a short voiceless clip from a random unknown song, but recorded with low quality smartphone's microphone 1 meter away from TV. No wonder, why I can't tell the pitch. I used CapCut (Android) to change the speed with "Pitch" mode ON. Here you can only change speed, but not pitch tones.
Hmm, and that's why I suggest organizing a group for... the search.. at least we should try to find something similar to this song, but at the moment we know that it's a very muted, slowed version of some kind of rock. Most likely, he comes from the countries of the former Warsaw Bloc, as a person living in one of these countries, I can say that the style is very similar. The main thing is that the song was created before 2002 (the date of the last edit of the map, as well as the audio file)
I cannot really help you except with the theory that it might be some unknown eastern european (most likely romanian) rock band from the 90s. the music sounded very similar back then
@@TitusX49 I honestly have no clue where the actual sample is from. Kelly Bailey never went into the beta and the tracks for it at all so... Sorry I can't give a concrete answer
pov: its 3 am and you cant sleep because of your neigbours downstairs playing party rock anthem
I love this so much. For some reason I cant stop listening to it

Man this hits hard
@Commander Bly didn't Dr kleiner say that the suppression Field has been deactivated in episode 1?
Eh, give it 100 years and the Air probably would be fine...

"THE HALF-LIFE 2 BETA WAS DARK AND GRITYY" the half life beta:
It's supposed to be scary and distorted but personally it just gives me the vibe of party music from far away
Exactly. It sounds like muffled rock music

I swear beta hl2 will always give me goosebumps.. it feels like such a whole different game.
Hl2 retail was good but the beta version is just art
Clive Latham my entire channel is based around the beta I just love the vibe of it so much! I’m happy to see you have the same taste.

I've seen your comment under hl2 beta sounds compilation, you asked about this sound. Nice 4 minute loop!
Thx
Combine be vibin out there somewhere
I like that probably everyone who wants to find this music has gathered around this video
this is making me calm for some reason
combine having a party after capturing resistance members

Fun Fact: If you speed up and pitch up this sound, you would like to hear the music. It's literally maybe the music from something else, but edited.
Did not know that. Thanks for the info
i need to edit this audio with vocal remover but what at speed up number and pitch up number?

so if you pitch and speed this to roughly 4x you can hear what seems like distorted pop music
someone needs to remake this unmuffled
Thanks you
I want to know all about this piece what was his purpose on the game? What is the sample of the song or if it's there a clean version out there?
