- On my second day in Kuching, I took my camera along to show my RUclips family what this incredible city has to offer, and I can honestly say, I’ve fallen in love with it! Strolling along the waterfront, everything about Kuching feels different from any other city or town I’ve explored in Borneo. The streets are clean, the atmosphere is welcoming, and there’s no shortage of sights to experience.
Known as the City of Cats, Kuching blends its rich history with modern charm. From the serene floating Indian Mosque to the striking pedestrian bridge spanning the Sarawak River, this city is a perfect mix of old and new. You can feel the legacy of the White Rajah Dynasty around every corner, making it a must-see destination for anyone exploring Borneo.
After just two days here, Kuching has quickly earned a spot in my top 30 cities to recommend to anyone traveling. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

I'm from Peninsula and I've been to Kuching and especially the Waterfront is awesome. It's vicinity and the surroundings is beautiful.
Totally agree! :)
Thank you and God bless you 😊.
Welcome to Kuching , an awesome multi- racial city. All races live in harmony ,respecting each other's religion and culture.I love my hometown kuching !❤❤
I was thinking the same thing Kuching is number 30 the best city in the world in term of safety, cleanliness, clean air, many dayak Indigenous peoples, culture, custom, history and vibrant
Totally agree :)
Of course, Sarawak is the safest state when compared to other states in Malaysia because the majority of the population is Christian. Sarawak is the most suitable state for non-Muslims to live in 👌👍❤
:)
Beautiful city
Accross river from Kubah Ria to Bintawa Petra Jaya are Malays Islam. Welcome/ Selamat Datang. Nice view from Darul Hana bridge. Enjoy.
I’ll have to see them when I return :)
Great video! Its trending
I hope it’s trending lol
Sarawak is Christian majority
no one care
I care @@azhari__reus3475
Are you racist....only uneducated person think stupidly......
Truth is very hard to believe
No.
Christians make around 40% of population of Sarawak.
So it is not Christian majority
Your historical background narratives of the various sites is refreshing to hear. Makes you different from other travel channels.
Thank you :)
When it comes to the cities, Kuching is more beautiful on Night for me because it giving me some 80s Japanese vibe
I visiyed Kuching in Aug 2024. I must say I love Kuching.
Kuching is a well managed city
One of my favourite cities around the world :)
Thanks for giving us the history and views of this part of Malaysia Borneo, does look a nice place. Hope the weather holds up for you.
It’s definitely worth a visit if you ever get a chance
Just subscribed 😊 Welcome to my hometown Kuching🎉🎉🎉 Enjoy your trip and stay healthy 😄👍👍
Thank you :)
When I was teenager, Kuching Waterfront was the place for to eat jeruk kedondong near the crocodile with my friends. I missed my city.
It’s a beautiful city, I don’t think there are crocodiles there now. I didn’t see any
@@olderbackpacker Crocodile statue
Ha ha, I know where you mean! Sorry, I thought you meant real crocodiles… ooops
Beautiful city
I agree :)
Christian are the majority, that 's why this state is very diffrent from all the states in malaysia. That's the fact .
Kuching city look quiet because the people always keep low profile but Sarawak is a high income state in Malaysia with GNI per capita US$13,205.00. Today Sarawak is a Renewal Energy hub because Sarawak want to become the cleanest enviromental state in Malaysia......enjoy your stay in Kuching City and most people in Sarawak can speak English very well....don't feel hesitate to mingle with locals....
I’ve had an amazing time in Kuching. I tried to mingle with the locals, but everyone was a tourist ha ha
@@olderbackpacker as a local, I totally get this. The city can be choked full of tourist but it is what it is.
You’re lucky to live there :)
@@olderbackpacker come back anytime, mate. Oh and by the way, if you ever return to Kuching, come and try Terung Dayak soup (a savoury, tangy vegetarian soup and it is sometimes made into a type of sambal), Manok Pansuk (chicken and tapioca leaves cooked in bamboo) and Kacang Ma (a type of herbal chicken broth) as these are what I would call unique(?) Sarawakian dishes. Though Kacang Ma is also consumed in mainland China, there, it is used as post-natal food, here in Sarawak, it's considered as a party food, funnily enough.
Its the only part of Malaysia where by its the opposite compare to the rest of the country. Its the cleanest city/territory and its majority christian. Kuching city is also the biggest city in the island of Borneo as of now. Unfortunately, not much of a highrise within the central business district which many says that Kuching City is a small town feeling.
Kuching was definitely the best city in Malaysian Borneo, I will see the rest of Malaysia next month :)
Biggest Christian with no power once married to a Muslim....
Nice video. Please come again. There are many other great tourist attractions in Sarawak which all tourists must see, such as the biggest cave in the world, the great Mulu Cave. I guarantee that you will enjoy being there.
Next time! I will be back :)
There are too many places of interest in Sarawak, especially in Kuching. You must visit her again!
I definitely will :)
For a European saying our ice cream is good is a big compliment. I still miss the American ice cream I had when I was studying there. I felt their ice cream and pecan pies are their greatest inventions. You talked about history which I, a 60 year old Sarawakian, did not know. I was wondering for some time how did Sarawak take so much of Brunei till Brunei is split into two, you explained that they were under duress and if the Brooks did not solve their rebellion problem, they would have had nothing.
The ice cream I had was really good. You need to go to the spot I went to get it.
I love history :) so I needed to do research to find out why it was Brunei and why they gave it up!
Culturally it is diverse. More nature than say kl
I agree
welcom to kuching sarawak
Thank you :)
This must be one of the better walking video.
Not mush shaking or jitter.
But maybe the panning should be a bit slower.
08:20 That would be the Square House.
There is a Round House, near the Post Office.
IIRC, all distances in Sarawak used to be calculated from the PO.
Edit:
The "Slits" around the Fort are where the soldiers can shoot from inside the fort.
Fun fact:
None of the White Rajahs are buried in KCH/Sarawak.
Thank you, I pride myself on holding the camera still when walking… although I do have a habit of tripping every now and again…
Thank you for the interesting facts, it’s a fascinating city :)
Kucing is wellknown for being the cleanst city
Malaysia as long as the least city with illegal immigrants....but less visit city bu either local n international tourist,,,compared
With Kk ,,kota kinabalu city,,,the most popular for tourist destination...especially the chinese China,Koreans,Japanese The Europeans n the local from west malaysia.....reason is kkis a green nature city that has a coMpelet packages for tourists...namely the sea, beaches, islands, seafoods, mpountain kinabalu, ect
Both are good cities :)
Certainly impressive Stu.
I’m loving it :)
