- ■ TANZANIA, ZANZIBAR: On the Gongu hunt, we drove past an epic looking local market along a busy road. It was full of life and not a tourist in sight. In other words exactly the type of place that I like to go shopping to see what prices are like outside of tourism central.
There was only one problem, Faki Party (yes that's still his name he says although he uses Faking on occasion, ok, I added the Party surname), still doesn't really understand much of what I say in terms of directions. So I simply had to trust that when I said market he knew which one I meant....
well.... one wrong turn later (or a shortcut as he tongue in cheek dubbed it), and all my bargaining solo market hunt plans were out the window...... 😆

I’ll tell you what happened at the market. Faki is a good person so he felt bad that you was buying for him and it’s was expensive to him Cause 15000 In Zanzibar you could get a lot of street food. That’s why he said he will go later maybe by himself.Btw the spices were reasonable n local price. This things where u buy stuff for someone doesn’t happen often in zanz so he kinda shy n very thankful. The prices there are local prices cause you are with a local. He said no at the fruits but miscommunication thought he meant yes to go. And the market you want to go i think is called michenzani market on Karume road. Yeah one thing Harald didn't understand is that every time He asks him something and Faki says "no" and Harald repeats "no?" then Faki answers "yes" meaning "yes I said no" And Harald get confused and thinks he now said yes for the original question :D Definitely need to donate some money to Faki and his family! Faki is trying really hard to understand English but he’s not very fluent which is why he’s is the Zanzibari YES Man! 😂
1. He was showing you the Portuguese cemetery I believe which was in use in the 1700’s.
2. With the Motorbikes they usually have a stand where they park and they use each other’s bikes based on shifts/customers thus the changing of bikes; someone must have been using his bike when you called him to pick you so he came to get you with another bike and then took you to the market where he exchanged to get his bike.
3. He didn’t understand at first that you were buying the spices for him; he thought you just wanted his opinion on what’s good until the seller explained to him. The seller wanted to sell you each packet for 10,000shs and Faki told him we’ll leave them here😂 he reduced it to 7,000shs each and then 5,000shs each thus 15,000 total!
4. He is feeling shy that you’re buying him stuff and spending so much money for him! Bananas are usually 250 shs each so 3000 shs is about right for a bunch.
5. I don’t think they had an accident; the helmet must have fallen and cracked and got broken!
6. When he was on the bike and you asked him if he wants fruits he said no and you said no so he said yes that no he doesn’t but you got confused thinking he said yes he wants that’s why he made the sound ehh 😂😂
7. The material they use for the bag is also used for sweeping and sometimes like a fan! Also he thought you were buying the bag for him and the price it’s a rip off that’s why SHIT 😂!

You have to put Gongo in a scoop and light it on fire and make sure it's blue fire. If the fire is blue, is good to drink but if it's orange fire, it's poison. That's how you test it to make sure it's drinkable.

@@scv909 Rubbing alcohol aka isopropyl alcohol does not form when you make moonshine. Methanol does, especially if its distilled at too low temperatures. If you know the guy who is making the moonshine and you trust, then fire trick is really handy and will tell you if it is drinkable or not. I think everybody can smell the difference between IPA and ethanol, if not a little taste would reveal it immediately. If the rubbing alcohol is denatured ethanol, simple taste and you know from the bitterness that its not meant for drinking.
