- ■ TANZANIA, ZANZIBAR: Every country have their own homebrew. In Zanzibar it's known as Gongo. But it's not easy to come by. After spending the better half of the day failing at finding a barber shop to make a haircut video, it suddenly dawned on me that a Gongo hunt would make for more entertaining viewing. Plus, I was kind of thirsty 😎
The only problem was that everywhere I'd asked for Gongo previously that day had no idea what I was talking about (partly because I used a different term for it as you can see at the start of the vid; puree). So I needed to enlist a local for some help. Enter Zanzibar's greatest motorbike driver and the man with the coolest and least RUclips friendly name on the whole island: Mr. Faki Party Taxi !!!

This is the best travel channel. Where else can I see a based Norwegian, riding through shantytowns of Zanzibar on the back of a motorcycle taxi, being driven by a guy named Fucking Party and looking for illegal moonshine? Then bringing the illegal moonshine back to a licensed bar and showing it to the bartender.

The guy on the bike wanted 2 dollars and Harald gave him 100 USD, props to Harald for helping the community. I checked the minimum monthly wage salary in Zanzibar and it is 300 000 Tanzanian Shillings (roughly 130 USD a month), Harald almost gave the minimum monthly wage to that man.

No VAT, but also no guarantee of consumer safety ;). I would personally be careful with these sorts of beverages because of possibly dangerous ingredients and manufacturing process(ie. Methanol etc.). To each their own of course 👍

Half of the time it’s just a whole lot of awkward laughing when neither person understands another. One person starts laughing (usually Harold) then other person starts laughing to not be rude. They’re both just laughing at nothing but to be polite and it’s hilarious to us as viewers.

Thanks for explaining one of the origins of the word scouser. In Liverpool there is a stew called 'scouse` too. You basically lob everything you have into it. Usually meat and potatoes but I've had it with beans, corned beef, fried eggs all sort of stuff. Most people from Liverpool are proud to be called a scouser!
