Laundry in African Bush 🇹🇿

  • ■ TANZANIA, TANGANYIKA: When you find yourself living in a remote African village without electricity, running water or even a well, doing laundry suddenly ceases to be something you do when you have 2 minutes to spare to load up your washing-machine, and instead becomes a journey you plan to spend the better part of your day completing.
Seeing as I am a visitor here eager to get an insight into what life living in a Masai tribe in Tanzania is truly like, this was something I was royally looking forward to. I thus decided to rent a motorbike and turn doing my laundry into a truly epic excursion through the bushlands of rural Tanzania.

Hi Harald! That is a juvenile Black Mamba, it get darker growing into an adult.(juvenile are as venomous as adults)
But their name is not based on their skin color, but on the inside of their mouth which is pitch black.
Eastern Green mamba are arboreal snakes and very very rarely found on the ground and they are actually bright green since juvenile.

I dig these long episodes! I’ve just done almost 5 hours and it felt like an hour, thanks Harold I actually really needed this, I know there are others out there like me who suffer from mental health issues where we have good days and bad days, and the many out there who know what I’m talking about when you wake up and know instantly it’s one of those and know how hard it is to snap out of that mindset, some times it can take days. I usually can’t watch anything cos my mind races and can’t concentrate but I found this easy to watch and it flowed nicely the time flew and I almost felt like I was there. Anyway thanks Harold your work is appreciated greatly.

Harold you are obviously going to give back to the tribe at the end. How about working on getting them a well? Can always start a go fund me so we can also support it in case it’s to expensive for just you. Giving them a gift that is sustainable and will last generations would be amazing. Coming back in 20 years and seeing your active well would be so fullfilling

I would definitely give to that cause too. A sustainable gift is the best gift imho. I watched a video from another traveler that went to a village in India where the villagers had no running water or toilets. They went to the bathroom in the field but it would get people sick sometimes. This youtuber ended up raising money to construct a huge latrine for the village that wouldn’t need to be cleaned out for 20 plus years. The looks of joy, pride, & raw emotion were amazing. 💖 I imagine the same reactions would be had if this incredible tribe got a well.

Unfortunately, I have read of cases where donating a well destroyed the culture of the tribe as it's an important social and bonding activity for females to fetch water. They often enjoy it and don't need foreigners budging in. Good intentions though
