    Chocolate Chip Waffle Whoopie Pies
    (my mom in law is the source for this recipe)
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. butter
    4 eggs
    Beat the above three ingredients together. Add the next 6 ingredients one at a time and mix as you go. I love using my Kitchen Aide stand mixer (amzn.to/2K0B9sL) .
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. sour cream
    2 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    4 c. flour
    Finally mix in
    12 oz. mini chocolate chips (or just throw the whole bag in like I did!)
    Bake in waffle iron ( amzn.to/2SxfRao ) set to about 60% heat. You might have to do a practice one or two until you figure out how long to leave them in. Make sure to grease between each batch. You can use a round waffle iron too, they just might be shaped a little differently.
    Finally, sandwich two waffle cookies together with an icing of your choice. (I like the recipes that include a little flour to cut down on the sweetness. However, the recipe I used this time wasn’t my favorite so I’m not going to include it here.
    VARIATION: For Chocolate flavored dough add 1/2 c. cocoa and use 1/2 c. less flour.

      I’m not religious at all but she provides a fascinating, and soothing look into a different way of life and religion!

    The best neighbors I ever had were Mennonite, when we moved in they often brought homemade cinnamon rolls and bread, so welcoming and kind. They had a young daughter, Mary, who they allowed to come over and play with two little girls her age I was babysitting at the time and in the summer they liked to play in the sprinkler. The other little girls had swimsuits but Mary did not and obviously playing in her dress wasn’t an option, so her mother bought her a swimsuit to wear under her dress. That may not have been completely acceptable but I thought it was a very loving compromise. She was so excited to be able to play with the other little girls and I admired her family even more. That was many years ago and I’ve often wondered what happened to Mary, her family left a very positive impression on us.

I am a Hindu, (biracial, mother was Christian but all off her children choose to follow our father’s faith) I also live in England, I find your channel super interesting. Thank you for making your faith and life style so accessible to strangers, we may not walk the same path but it is good to look over the “fence” into another person’s life, faith and belief. My hubby and I attend a Baptist church. We laughed so hard when we heard you say you thought it was the Baptists who believe in the quiver full concept. There may be some Baptists who practice this, but in our experience that is not a rule we've seen taught in any Baptist church. I know some Christians who practice that belief, but this are not mandated by the church. It is a personal conviction some believers hold. There are as may "brands" of Baptist as there are of Mennonites. I find your videos delightful. Thanks for your sweet spirit! Sarah

    I think it is important to mention that not all Mennonites dress the way the way conservative Mennonites do. I think a lot of people just say Mennonite, but conservative Mennonites usually wear the more strict clothing. I am a Mennonite and its totally fine for us to wear pants to church. thank you so much for these videos, absolutely amazing. also, I would love to see a makeup video. much love and God bless!!

      Yes, I agree. There are many Mennonite churches in my area. In most of the churches, the women don't wear head coverings, or skirts and dresses, (unless they want to) and they pretty much dress like the average person. That's most of the Mennonite churches, there are, however, some more conservative Mennonite churches and that is where the dress changes.

    My grandmother was a Mennonite who married a Baptist and made her family rather upset. I'm glad she did though, she was an amazing lady who worked hard and loved her family. I didn't know her very well, she passed away before I turned 12, but I know my dad learned a lot from her growing up and he passed those values of hard work and honesty on to his children.

    I love your vids Megan. They is such a purity about you that is so refreshing. In this world, there is so much that's loud, crass and offensive, so keep doing what you're doing. You could lead many to Christ who become turned off by what the world offers, and are drawn to what is pure and noble and right. Greetings from Australia.

      @Poneyfeathers I stopped wearing makeup with any regularity about 15 years ago and almost completely a decade ago. I also use nothing to wash my face but a washcloth and warm water. The absolute only "product" is a cheap Dollar General moisturizer that has an spf of 30 and then it is about half the amount they recommend to use. I still get a rare chin breakout but my skin is the best it's ever been and I am just celebrating turning 55.

Seriously though I am going to give it a try. In my daily life I've been spending a lot of time on my phone. These look delish! I love making Whoopie Pies! Our Menno Church did a cookbook years ago and I find myself always going back to those old tried & true recipes! When our kids went to school, they always wanted me to make whoopie pies on special days. So I began taking my whoopie pie recipe and baking it in mini muffin tins! Then I thin my filling with milk a bit and pipe it on as frosting. EVERYONE at their schools LOVED when I made them!! My chocolate whoopie pie recipe makes about 90 mini muffins and pumpkin makes about 3 or 4 dozen. And there’s plenty of frosting for them! And it’s perfect for kids as 2 minis are the perfect treat amount! (And yes they freeze beautifully!). And thank you for the pricing tip at Sight & Sound! I have never heard they are half price for us locals! (And we’ve been here 22 yrs!) LOL! Thanks! Blessings to you as you unpack and get situated at your new place!! Xo

    I cleaned up and organized my desk, cleaned my air conditioner and caught up on some paperwork while listening/watching. I don't have small kids, in fact, mine are grown but I do enjoy watching your videos. I wear only skirts and dresses now but that is not how I have always dressed. I do find it is easier to get dressed and feel more feminine dressing this way. I enjoy hearing you squash myths about Mennonites and learning more about your beliefs. I am a Christian and live as closely as I can to everything in the Bible. As a human, I know we make mistakes and one of those in my life was judging others. I was raised in a home where I was taught to judge and it never made me feel good, I always wanted to know why I had to judge someone and why their way was wrong and ours wasn't even though now I see that the way I was taught was very wrong. I have learned as I got older not to be that way even though that is how I was raised and feel so much better. My husband and I raised our children not to judge. People just don't take time to understand others it seems. Thank you for sharing.

    My husband finds it always funny that i have RUclips videos playing whilst I’m cooking, also when ironing. For me its more like get things done and in meantime have something to watch. Mostly its youtubers doing their thing i find interesting or documentaries or so. Before sleeping i have a meditation going on. My husband works in early or late shifts so it means he’s away at 4: 20 in the morning or is back home at 23h. Our kids are adults on has moved out and the youngest 21 is home but works the same shifts at a different factory. So for me its shared houses shores and training my two dogs both border collies and one of them is in Flyball competition.
    I never yelled at my kids, raised my voice a bit and they knew, we had a time out time if needed. Not they needed that much. Where we strict parents for most yes, but our kids tell us they didn’t have to guess where the line was to cross. Some friends where not nice to their parents calling them names get tantrums because they didn’t get their way or food they demanded. We had our rules like being polite, speak with two words, don’t interrupt when adults speak only when it is an emergency. We always late time to talk to our kids, asked how they felt or helping with schoolwork. They had their own task, like putting their laundry in the basket in the bedroom, pulling their blanket back so their bed could air. My daughter said “mom, some kids don’t appreciate their parents till i tell them you didn’t had good parents and you do everything to make us feel safe and good” i was melting;

Idk if all Mennonite churches use it or if it follows all their teachings but I know it's popular. Very simple, put together and it works. I'm going to assume as well that the Mennonite Church has their own training. Public universities aren't the only way to learn to teach. I homeschool and definitely feel qualified through the Lord.

    It’s true I have a perception that Mennonite women are oppressed. You are so smart and vivacious, I can’t help mourning for what you could have contributed to the world, the experiences you could have had, the dreams you could have fulfilled if you weren’t trapped by a faith tradition that limits you to such a narrow role. You are bursting at the seams of your life. BUT I know this is me projecting and you are happy bearing children and cooking and cleaning and sewing and being submissive to your husband. So I try to put those feelings away and just be happy that you’re happy!

    I always wondered why mennonites wear coverings on their head! I am a non-denominational Christian and we interpret 1 Corinthians 11 way differently! In verses 5 and 6 it says a woman’s hair isn’t to be shorn or shaven but to be covered but in verse 15 it says the womans hair was given to her for a covering, so we don’t cut our hair because we believe it’s our covering and our glory! Everyone sees things differently! Loved the video though!

      I am a non denomination Christian as well and felt convicted on my own that I should wear a covering as it’s a symbol, and I could be wrong but the verse I always came back to as the covering not making sense if it’s hair is vs 6 (For if a woman doesn't cover her head, she should have her hair cut off. But if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her head be covered. )
      This to me always was another covering then hair that if we don’t want to wear a symbol on our head then in disgrace we should just shave it for it’s as if it already was ... but I’m not saying I am right or wrong . I do think it’s personal conviction and we have grace thankfully ... and I also struggle with this as well because we live in such a free to be me society and there are so many opinions on the subject I too can fail in my own convictions but I’m praying for the lord to give me strength as it’s his word only I want to follow not society .. God bless you all...

      saved by grace My personal opinion is if verse 6 meant an actual covering then why tell us in verse 15 that our hair is our covering? But like you, I am just going by my own personal conviction and am in no way judging you or anyone else for seeing it differently than me! :)

      @sheilahudson8798 5 лет назад +2

      Alyssa Harris yes we are all allowed our personal convictions I don’t judge either ... I think it’s personal between you and the lord.... I don’t think it’s a sin issue or salvation issue but a symbol... just like a ring is a symbol in our society of marriage I see this as mine to the lord and it sounds strange but it does help me think more about my dress in modesty:) and I see both sides of arguments ppl do have on the issue . I studied months on this topic years ago when I read it and found a lot of interesting factors on it :) it to me is beautiful;) but to each is own ;)

    So I grew up Mennonite (from generations of Iowa/Indiana/Ukrainian Mennonites), but I think everyone thinks "conservative Mennonite" when they think Mennonite, when really the church doctrine allows for a lot more flexibility. My grandparents were conservative; no pants, no makeup, no perfume, prayer bonnet, etc. etc. but the church my parents went to was super hippy-dippy "let's all make our own compost heap and not contribute to globalist consumerism." So I think it really varies, and I like that.
    I'm not currently practicing, have thought about it, but not sure if I would find a church home that would suit me. But I firmly believe in limiting wastefulness, rejecting overt consumerism, and practicing stewardship of the earth. Oh, and I use the "More With Less" cookbook, so I got that going for me. :-p
