Tears Streaming Down the Face of the Nation

This hula performance by the Kamehameha Schools Hula Ensemble depicts the sorrow felt by Hawaiian Kingdom subjects upon the imprisoning of their Queen, Lili`uokalani, in 1895, by a self-appointed and treasonous group calling itself the Republic of Hawai`i. The hula was performed at `Iolani Palace in Honolulu in August, 1998, at the centennial observance of the "annexation that never was."
