  • If you're new to the Sony A7 IV, choosing a RAW format might be a question you have pondered. Compressed Raw, lossless compressed, and uncompressed are options, so which RAW format is best, and what do you lose or give up if you choose one of the others?

Very good video, excellent explanation, straightforward and to the point. Just one question...does the Sony a7iv, 33 mpx, lower its megapixel resolution when shooting in compressed RAW without loss? I mean, is it no longer a 33 MPX camera? It seems that in MEDIUM lossless compressed Raw, it takes photos of approximately 14 MPX. And SMALL lossless compressed Raw, photos of approximately 8 MPX. Is this true? You compared only uncompressed raw with compressed raw, but my question is, what about the megapixels in medium and small lossless raw? We look forward to your kind and honest response.

It doesn’t lower resolution in megapixels but does lower bit depth. Some have argued it could affect dynamic range. I’ve never seen a test on this and I’m able to see it with the naked eye.
