- I joined Abby Phillip on CNN Primetime to discuss the upcoming 2024 Republican primary debate, which Donald Trump will not be attending. With Trump out, it will essentially become a battle for Second Place - currently held by Ron DeSantis.
I also showed focus group comments from GOP primary voters say what they want to see in the first debate.

I watched Tucker and Trump and caught the GOP debate in clips on social. If I pick a fav on GOP it's Vivek
No need for Trump to participate in the debate when he is leading with a great margin of Republican voters. Let those struggling candidates like Chris Kristie can debated to become the next leaders in the poll to debate Trump in the second or third round of GOP debate
Frank Luntz is showing himself to be a real dunce . For someone supposed to have his finger on the pulse of political trends in voters, he REALLY doesn't get the societal factors playing out in the minds of us common folk. Everyone (RINOs and CNN Leftists and MAGA alike) will ignore the Fox News Junior Varsity debates and instead tune in to see Trump on Twitter-X spitting facts with Tucker Carlson.
The politics of fear and hate is really effective on the right.
Will a large percentage of MAGA voters be watching the debates? I have my doubts.

We knew Trump wouldn’t show up- too cowardly. He won’t be able to defend his promises verses failures publically. They need to start exposing his failures in a calm matter.
What would it gain trump to show up to that debacle? He is the clear lead for the nomination. It's not even close. It's like calling Mike Tyson a coward because he refused a fight challenge from Ellen DeGeneres. Are you serious?

Ahes an independent who is trying to decide on who to vote for (republican, democrat or otherwise) we are requesting the following: 1. that the moderator control the debate, that the candidates answer the questions and that they do not give politically correct answer and try to sidestep the questions.
At 5:02 - as Frank notes, a plurality of Trump/GOP party voters cheer on the incivility. Remember folks, these are the “law and order” and “church goin’” types.
We cheer it on now because we're tired of allowing it to come only in our direction. Once our side (the huge silent majority) starts fighting back, Leftism will be annihilated in the country. Incivility is a small price to pay for that great reward.

Biden should hire Frank to helpn with the messaging democrats are so bad at. He knows how to effectively use words and messaging to persuade.
Debates give candidates a big bump. For Trump not to show up for the debates will be to his detriment.
