Yeah, have to agree. I subscribe to a couple of channels already and think it only fair if you're creating interesting content you're entitled to earn some cash for your time and effort. I've been a subscriber for around a month now and will happily sign on to your Patreon. I knew Svalbard was an island in the Arctic beforehand but never knew how big a community there was in Longyearbyen but do now through your channel. As an added bonus we all get to see Grim and his brother having a great time with you all.

I love when you explain life in Svalbard to us, like in a documentary, that's so interesting ! As a beauty blogger, I would be super interested to know how you take care of your skin in this very special weather ?
I love how you say ”it’s such a beautiful day today” and one can really hear in your voice that you mean it! What I see is a dark night, and when you say ”beautiful day” my mind goes ”Wait, What!?”, and I love that! New perspectives! 🙏🏻
You should do a video on romance in Svalbard. What's the social scene like there? Do people get desperate for companionship and settle on the slim pickings of a small community? Are most people there only for a short while so "what happens in Svalbard stays in Svalbard"? Or is it all fairly normal? Is there an LGBQT community? Are there clubs or groups for people interested in dating?
I grew up in a rural community, although not on the same level as Svalbard! Privacy is an issue. If there's anything unusual going on in your life, it's like being a mini celebrity. People like to talk. If you want true privacy where's little risk of someone seeing you (then gossiping about you), you'd probably need to travel miles away, maybe about an hour. Nearly every time I go out with family, they see someone they know there as well. Think Fire Saga or Virgin River on Netflix. I imagine on Svalbard many people move there who are already a couple, or are single and have just had enough of the world. Would be interesting to find out!
What happens in Svalbard as far as healthcare is concerned? Do you need to leave the island for surgery? What about medical emergenies? You should do a video on that.
I believe she has mentioned before that if it's smaller things, which you go to the doctor for, you can get treated on Svalbard, but if it's more serious or bigger procedures you get flown to the mainland for the hospital in Tromsø. But yes, would be very interesting to hear more about it!
There is a small hospital in Longyearbyen, equipped with 3-4 doctors, a dozen nurses, a dentist, physiotherapists and a midwife. It has a respirator and an isolation room for infectious diseases. There's even an ambulance and two helicopters for use in patient transport. The hospital is equipped to do most things but the most complicated surgery and long term procedures, oncology for instance has to be done on the mainland.
@@Norralin we learned this first hand in Feb when my other half came off a snowmobile. Full helicopter rescue and treated by the amazing amazing people at the wonderful hospital. Really got to see how amazing the people in Svalbard as a whole are at that time.
Cecilia, Thank you so much for creating this channel. I live in Los Angeles and had the pleasure of visiting Svalbard 3 years ago in April, when the days were getting longer by 20 minutes a day. Such a magical place! I love seeing the familiar places around town as well as places we did not visit. Grim is completely adorable and a great asset to each of your videos. Good job on making him such a great character in your stories. Ive just found this channel a few days ago, and have really been enjoying your work. Keep up the great stories about everyday life on Svalbard. You live in one of the most interesting places on the planet and getting little glimpses into how you live there is fascinating. I think you are sitting on a gold mine through RUclips. You are essentially the only RUclipsr in that location and you already have top of the line equipment. Just some suggestions to help your channel grow. RUclips algorithm is crazy. I personally think you could get 100k subs by the end of the year. New subscriber. Great video work. Fascinating where you live! I’ve always been interested in remote arctic and Antarctic islands. It’s very livable in your city! So cool!!
The life you live is so different from mine, being a city girl from central Israel (like, the last time I saw snow was about 6 years ago and it wasn't even cought), but that's why it's really interesting for me to watch your videos
Thank you Ceci' for letting us into your world again, Stay Safe and Grim too ..........and dont forget Kris haha.....we saw "time to go home to Grim" pop up LoL ........ 🧡
I’m curious about your fireplace/firewood. I live in a remote cabin in the mountains and harvest all of my own firewood for heat. When I was in Svalbard last January I met a dog who was born there and had never seen a tree. I think of that whenever I see your firewood in videos. If there are no trees, does firewood have to be delivered to Svalbard?
Firewood is delivered to Svalbard from mainland Norway. Also because there are no trees on Svalbard birds lay eggs on the ground; the baby birds are exposed to predators. The baby birds are in great danger before they learn to fly.
Loving the idea of Patreon, you will be the first RUclipsr I would be delighted to support. Wishing you all the best with the ventures in the future, and can't wait to see what you do next. Still super jealous each time we watch a video, and so badly want to be back in Svalbard. Craving a burger from the Svalbar right now lol
Have you ever had to use your shotgun with a polar bear, or had any close calls? And do you ever get a chance to fire it and/or keep it clean and maintained?
My wife and I are hooked on your vlogs! We can’t wait to see the expansion project of your home. Does the shop where you work ship to the states? I would love to surprise my wife with a gift shipped from Svalbard... wouldn’t that be an awesome surprise!
Yes to Patreon. I would definitely participate. Your videos are helping me with the darkness of our winter which is nothing like yours. Your an inspiration
Great to see a different way of life in such an extreme place.... but not for me, thanks! I don’t know how you cope with all that snow, wind, cold and darkness! X
I'm glad for your plans to focus on your own photography/videography going forward. You have demonstrated great talent on this RUclips channel. Your inviting style and ability as a story teller is exceptional. You come across as a very vital -warm and hospitable personality.
What a great video! You are truly beautiful inside and out. You are constantly smiling and we can feel the very real appreciation you have for your life. I love the comment about "keeping life simple has less stress". The calmness and serenity you show about your life while still looking to live large is beautiful and motivating. Were you always like this? Has being there changed you ?
I do love your current video set up but would be interested in the Patreon idea as well. Svalbard has been top of my bucket list for years now, I almost went in 2018 then 2019 but those didn’t pan out, so seeing your content really lets me know what long term longyearbyen life is like. 🥰👍keep it up, from northern Virginia USA
OMG Grim was SO excited seeing you when you came home! Very interesting to learn about the school up there. You listed some subjects they cover and one of them was music. What type of music do they do up there? As a musician myself I am curious. In a way a place like Svalbard is ideal for musicians because you spend literally hours practicing inside somewhere so why not do it in Svalbard! It would be cool if at some point you could interview a few of the students to hear where they are from and what they are studying.
I love this idea. In depth interview and maybe a few day in the life shots of the actual classes being held and what they do in their free time. It would be cool to see the website for the school if it was in English!
I don't know if someone has asked or you've answered already, but did you already know your way around Svalbard, living life in extreme cold, shooting a gun, etc, before living there?
damn. that school seems rad. arctic survival skills definitely are not curriculum here in California. I hope this channel grows. it's very interesting to see life at the northern end of the world.
Hey from the UK. Randomly found your channel with a miss click. I must say the best miss click iv ever done, love the vlogs about this place it seams like a dream was hooked instantly. Keep up the good work and cant wait to see more. And Grim is adorable...Stay safe 🙏
Hi Cecilia, My wife Jane and I love watching your videos and we’re both HUGE fans of Grim. We live in Florida USA so watching you so far north of us is a joy and where you live is so beautiful. You’re so creative in your videography/photography...just beautiful! Also, we love your choice of music… Who produces it? Do you have a musician friend who produces background music, or is it stock music that you’re purchasing off of a website? It’s new to us. :) Hugs to Grim from Matt and Jane. Thanks again for sharing your lives with us.
Hahh when you looked outside after waking up, into the darkness that doesn`t seem like telling much, I couldn`t not laugh - I love the attitude that certain environmental conditions help to ease on people. I heard that nobody really talks about the weather, it just is how it is, that is amazing. We in Estonia have rather hard conditions, dark winters and not much sun for months which is not even comparable to Svalbard ,though, . Here is attitude that" the weather is so bad today, I don`t want to go out" and then when spring arrives and suddenly there are overflowingly many people outside I am always get puzzled that where have you been all the other days of the year :D.
I love learning more about this island! Sounds like a really cool place to live. I would love to know more about money there...are you guys struggling to get along, or comfortable? It seems like the cost of living there must be high...do you have trouble making ends meet? (like I do in the US) How is healthcare there? The day to day things... Thanks for the videos!
I just came across channel and am binging a bit. I live in Miami Beach Florida USA It is super cool looking at the differences there and trying to imagine myself living there vs here.
like your Patreon idea and more longer content, very fascinated by the environment there and the life you lead..... also who can say no to more Grim content!
When I went to my second year at folk high shcool, I played seriously with the idea of becoming a stipendiat (literally "scholarship holder") at the school. Me and the other stipendiater would have been a kind of helpers for the students and staff, someone who helped out with various things at the school and also worked as a kind of counsellours for the actual students. I still regret not doing it, would've probably been an incredible year.
I am so glad I found your channel! I love your content! Everytime I watch one of your videos the most random questions pop in my head 😂. Your nails always look so amazing, do you do them yourself? Where’s the most popular place to celebrate a wedding in town? These are the kind of random questions!
We have a girl that does nails in the village 🤩 I love nails! There are a couple of Hotels where people have weddings and a place called Huset is a common wedding venue 😊
I watched this video again. I love the videos where you take us to your jobs and other experiences. It is a great peek into a very different world from mine.
This is so interesting Cecilia I really enjoyed this video, is it a school or a college or university can you explain more about how it works and what qualifications the kids get. I presume they are 16 years - 18 years - is this correct. In Australia sweltering in our summer so this is fascinating.
It is "tertiary education" so after finishing school you can go to this Folk highschool for a year, which offers a different type of experience! The kids do get some points towards college eduation, if I'm correct :)

I don’t like giving people suggestions on what I want to see because I was already enjoying everything else that you’ve been showing us without my input, so I figured I would just let it keep going like that. 😁
Wow thank you so much! Really appreciated 🤩🙏
“Time to go home to Grim”. Christopher must be like “what about me?” Grim’s reaction at the homecoming was priceless! Too cute!
hahah Christoffer enjoys a day or two alone in the cabin 😂
I'm pretty sure that Grim deserves his own channel.
hahah has he not taken over this channel already 😂😂
This is my favorite channel right now. Thank you!
Oh wow thank you sooo much! 🤩
So sweet how excited Grim was to see you 😍 I love this kind of ‘day in my life’ video, it’s really interesting to see how you keep yourself occupied! Stay safe x
Ohh I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! First I was a bit worried if it wasn't cinematic enough, but maybe a healthy mix of both type of videos is good? 🤩🤩 Thank you so much for watching!
@@CeciliaBlomdahl I love it when RUclipsrs post a mixture, the stunning beauty of Svalbard and how people live there both fascinate me. I’m looking forward to your next one 😁
Grim🧡!!
You're such a positive person, thanks for sharing.
Good vibes from Mexico, I really enjoy your vlogs, thanks for sharing them with us ✌🏻✨
My pleasure!! Thank you so much for watching! 🤩
This is giving me so strong Danish højskole nostalgia vibes. I miss it so much.
New subscriber. Great video work. Fascinating where you live! I’ve always been interested in remote arctic and Antarctic islands. It’s very livable in your city! So cool!!
I’m ten and love all your videos. Tomorrow when I’m heading to sawmill ski resort ima listen to your vids.
😍🙏🏻🙏🏻
Gosh. 10??? Adorable, but what are you doing on adult RUclips, and you have an account??? Be careful. It can be a pretty rough place.
My favorite part of the day is going to breaktime and watching your videos 💖
Yes to the Patreon idea. It's clear you put a lot of work into the videos and we absolutely love watching them. It eases our Covid Cabin fever too 😂
Have you ever had to use your shotgun with a polar bear, or had any close calls? And do you ever get a chance to fire it and/or keep it clean and maintained?
Thank you Cecilia for these videos! Thank to you I feel like I am still travelling despite of Corona.
My wife and I are hooked on your vlogs! We can’t wait to see the expansion project of your home. Does the shop where you work ship to the states? I would love to surprise my wife with a gift shipped from Svalbard... wouldn’t that be an awesome surprise!
Cecilia, I have to ask you. Where do you get all this wood you burn?
well done on the narrative. it's interesting to see life in the north from your prospective.
This is officially my favorite RUclips channel now. Please continue. I love your content :)
Yes to Patreon. I would definitely participate. Your videos are helping me with the darkness of our winter which is nothing like yours. Your an inspiration
Thank you so much! 🙏😍
Thank you so so much! I really appreciate hearing that 🙏🏻😊
Det er noe virkelig avslappende med dine videoer som gjör meg til at jeg vi se flere og mere hver gang...svalbard ser veldig fredelig ut ...
Thank you so so much! I hope you decide to visit in the future 😍
Absolutely love your channel!
Omg thank you so so much!! 🤩
Your channel pop up in my computer few days ago...I have binge watching your videos ever since. You create amazing content....
Thank you so so much! 🙏🙏
Utter total darkness outside:
-Whoa what a day 'twirls round showing the view' 😂😂
hahah! I thought it was beautiful 😂😍
I'm new to this channel and I demand more lol... yes to everything
I don't know if someone has asked or you've answered already, but did you already know your way around Svalbard, living life in extreme cold, shooting a gun, etc, before living there?
Noo not at all! I just adapted and learned as time went on 🤩
damn. that school seems rad. arctic survival skills definitely are not curriculum here in California.
Aww, Grim was so excited to see you. He's so beautiful.
I’d love to cuddle your pooch😝 it looks kind of magical there all the time. I imagine it’s a totally different vibe in the summer.
Hi Cecilia,
My wife Jane and I love watching your videos and we’re both HUGE fans of Grim.
We live in Florida USA so watching you so far north of us is a joy and where you live is so beautiful.
You’re so creative in your videography/photography...just beautiful!
Also, we love your choice of music…
Who produces it? Do you have a musician friend who produces background music, or is it stock music that you’re purchasing off of a website? It’s new to us. :)
Hugs to Grim from Matt and Jane.
Here is attitude that" the weather is so bad today, I don`t want to go out" and then when spring arrives and suddenly there are overflowingly many people outside I am always get puzzled that where have you been all the other days of the year :D.
hahah, yeah I thought it was a gorgeous day 😍 haha I can imagine the streets get bustling when spring comes around! I really need to visit Estonia!!
Älskar dina filmer! Så rogivande! Strävar själv efter ett mer fritt liv!
Åh va kul! Tusen tack! 🙏🏻 Livet är är väldigt fint och lugnt 😊
2 videos day after another its like a late christmas present
hahah 😍
like your Patreon idea and more longer content, very fascinated by the environment there and the life you lead..... also who can say no to more Grim content!
Yeah we have stipendiater here! They are soo helpful to the staff and get an amazing extra year here on Svalbard 😍
I used to live in a snowy place but now I live in Florida. I love getting my snow fix from your videos! Someday I want to visit Svalbard :)
haha! I'm happy to be your winter! :D
Just found your channel and it’s incredible. Such an interesting and beautiful place to live.
Good video! It was very interesting to see the school where you worked at.
&
Great video once more. Keep doing regularly, we all love to watch.👍
Cecilia this is super interesting, thank you 🌼 yes to patreon 👍 Grim was so excited he couldn't cope, so adorable 💗🐶💗
I'm so happy you enjoyed it! 🙏🏻
