Experimenting with light in studio is something I would love to do more of in the coming weeks. Let me know what kind of setups you'd like to see!
Me encantaría seguir experimentando con la luz en el estudio en las próximas semanas. Hazme saber qué tipo de montajes te gustaría ver.

Shooting at ISO 400 in the studio - I guess that was due to the lack of power from the LEDS? Was your main light at full power for example?

Good question. I wanted to shoot at the given aperture and with that, it had me land at ISO 400. The main light was at full power, but the overhead light was somewhere between 70 and 85%.

Hey Miguel! It was a pleasure to meet you at WPPI, and for always being helpful. Here. There. Everywhere. Thank you. Your videos are kickass. You're pragmatic and balanced and easy to understand. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
And you said to ask my questions, so here goes:
I'm looking to get a basic lighting setup that would be primarily used outdoors for portraits, mostly one or two subjects but I do have a family shoot coming up. I know you said in-studio but I don't have one.
The ease of LED panels is attractive, but can they do a decent job when I'm losing light at sundown? And how close do they have to be to the subject realistically? Does this depend on the lux and distance between panel and subject? Is LED panel and outdoor daylight just not a good combo? Would it be better for me to use my Godox V1 off cam with a softbox for key, using panels for fill and back?
I came loaded. Hope it inspires some ideas for upcoming videos.

Thats actually a pretty expensive set up. Also I would have liked to see each individual light on separately to see its effect on the subject.

I'll keep that in mind for the next video. We were under a time crunch the day of the shoot so some things I wanted to do got skipped. As for the price, it's all relative. Price out an 8x8 softbox somewhere like B&H, then compare it to my sub-$3k setup which includes the light. My setup costs less than the cost of the softbox itself. :)

don't look at the kit. look at what he did with it. You can drop the cost of cloning the shot by improvising a scrim, mixing in flashes or using high cri shop lights.

I love your video. I am just thinking about the LED against Flash... Why you are not using strobes?

The photos look beautiful and natural. What magazine did you see this set-up in in that I'd like to see those and compare them to these greats shot you got. Please let me know if you can. Thank!!!

Thank you! There were a couple of shoots that had a similar setup, but the one I was thinking of was the one with Jamie Lee Curtis for Forbes Magazine.
