Healthy Keto Homemade Protein Bar Recipe
    Ingredients:
1 stick of butter (or 1/2 cup coconut butter or coconut oil)
    2 Tbsp xylitol or erythritol
1 cup coconut flour, whole egg protein powder, or whey protein powder
    1 cup crushed nuts
    1 cup chocolate chips
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    A pinch of sea salt
    Directions:
Cover a cookie sheet with wax paper. Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl. Form the bars and place them on the cookie sheet. Put the cookie sheet in the freezer for about 3 to 5 minutes, or until the bars have hardened. Store the bars in the freezer or refrigerator. If you store them in the freezer, take the bar out and leave it at room temperature for about 5 minutes before eating.
    Thank you Dr Berg!! 🐱👍🏿

This is a Magnum Opus video Dr. Berg! It completely answers the question on non-sugar sweeteners that I asked you during your Friday show a few weeks ago. I am disappointed with these companies.😭 It feels like they have lied to the diabetic community. 😡 THANK YOU for bringing the truth to light. On behalf of my keto T1D daughter, thank you!!!!! Her A1C may come down even more now that we have this info. Also, I took your advice and wrote to three different "Stevia" companies, asking for written documentation proving that there is no moltotextrin and/or additives in the production process. Still waiting for their responses. I was almost in tears watching this video. You put so much work into it. This mama bear thanks you from the bottom of my heart!!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Made my first batch but added cinnamon as I had just gotten a bunch. I found it easier to press the mixture into a 4x6 mini-muffin cooking sheet, freeze then put into a bag. Made exactly 24.

Incredible recipe! And I would not add sweeteners at all since butter and coconut already adds that sweet taste because of the fatty texture. Instead, I went on, and I put in cinnamon, ginger and cardamone. That's my personal improvisation :D

    • @andrzejkulakowski
      @andrzejkulakowski 2 года назад +10

@@moonshynegirl172 Agreed, and after awhile based on my personal experience, sugar alternatives are not needed at all since the bud receptors change somehow that (in my case at least) that only salt and fat tastes best. I tried stevia as a sugar alternative for coffee, but that didn't go well at all, so spices + coconut + butter + pinch of salt to coffee (as in a modified bullet-proof coffee of mine) works best. I'm also adding creatine periodically, but my coffee is slightly warmer than lukewarm, so I hope creatine doesn't lose its value.

Just made some today but left out the chocolate (I can always add a dark chocolate drizzle on top later if I like). I added nuts, golden fkaxseed, chia and pumpkin seeds and used coconut flour. A nice alternative to the peanut butter ones I usually make .

I agree I was just about to make protein bars for our household cuz the cheapest I could find them was on sale $35 for three boxes and they're really not that great at sprouts but we have all the keto ingredients however the only recipe I could find was like a mostly collagen powder one ( whey isn't an option here) so I feel more confident about this one... On another kind of creepy note I realized today that Dr Berg's actually sounding the alert on the poisons and chemicals in foods which are causing widespread dementia/ Alzheimer's and diabetes and one of the things I realized today is that when people have these conditions they crave these non keto items like junkies, I know this from personal (seniors in my care) experience and from countless stories I've heard. Nobody ever craved a loaf of bread 50 years ago, this stuff is poison!

Sound Quality: Please note that the sound quality is not very clear. Dr. Berg's voice sounds somewhat muffled. It seems that there is an emphasis on low-mid range frequencies and a lack of higher end frequencies that may provide greater clarity. Just thought I'd mention. Thanks again for a well presented and interesting video Dr. Berg!

Update: I left a message that these were too crumbly to hold together so I added a bit of water and squeezed a tablespoon of the mix and it held together. They looked terrible but I froze them. This morning I tasted one. It was delicious!!! I did use the whole egg powder that Dr. Berg suggested ….maybe that made it crumbly…not sure but I would use it again.
Next time I will still use the water to moisten the mixture and press it into a parchment paper sleeve lined 8x8 and freeze it. The sleeve makes it easy to pull it out and then cut it into bars. Well I will find out, but this is a keeper for sure. Thanks Doc!

The semi sweet lily's chocolate chips are fantastic. I use them in recipes, but more often just eat a handful after a meal. In my area a 9oz bag of lily's chocolate chips is only about a dollar fifty more than any of the 3oz lily's bars. It ends up being way cheaper to get a bag and eat a little at a time. They melt well and are great for ganache too.

    I have the same opinion:
    1. Do not use chemical food, Why do that?
    2. Eat food just as they did before the trends.
    3. Eat small portions
    4. eat 4-6 times a day.
    5. Mix protein and carbs for your body and type and do workout.
    6. Use olive-oil the real one not faulty ones.
    7. Eat fruits
    8. Have a goal with your eating and workout.
    9. It is also expensive to eat bars and alots of wins for them beacuse of chemical that dont cost that much, = eat natural,

I’m an ordinary person who’ve had succes on keto & IF. But I’ve met many people who want to do keto. I ask what’s their reason; when they say to lose weight I tell them that’s the wrong reason. Keto helps you clean up your gut biome, which cleans up your blood, which allows your body to start repairing YEARS of damage from poor food choices, THEN your body will start either losing weight or gaining weight depending on your own body’s set point for weight. Let the body do what it’s designed to do by giving it the nutrition & tools it needs. Become a label reader & knowledgeable about the ingredients.

Being 53 I have followed several recommended "trends" in "healthy" eating. Actually all of them were recommended by scientists and med docs. The very first which I remember was connected with low / moderate low fat eating. This was a response to choresterol as a risk factor. So now I am only smiling at the new diet "fashion".
In keto diet some really good and true recommendations are connected with those which were considered unhealthy. So I have some doubts.

Great video! I would include telling folks to buy a blood glucose monitor. Individual metabolisms vary quite a bit. Atkins bars don't touch my blood glucose. I test anything that I have a shred of doubt about. My own blood tells me the truth every time.

I bought Stevia in the Raw and didn't care for it. I made a peanut butter cup for Easter. My husband loves it. I used Eryrthritol in them. A crispy rice bar has rice in its name, so I would ignore it based on the name.

Greetings Dr Berg. Your concise, and unadulterated advice continues to promote healthy minds and bodies for so many. I was reviewing the ingredient list to make the keto snacks but noticed “whey” protein as an ingredient. I have seen a video where this protein is verboten in your teachings. Why is this included in this recipe? Many thanks!

I've been recently making a keto safe 2 ingredient fudge and using it to make knock off reeses cups. I use lillys choc, either chips or bars that are dark choc bakers choc or semi-sweet darck bakers choc. I also work hard to find a safe peanut butter. The ones I use only have peanuts, and maybe some salt. This is one of my healthy sweet subs. I'm thinking of adding some coconut flour to the next batch so it would be more firm, and if I want I might add pecans. I have probs doing healthy clran keto 100% of the time because I get nasty glucose drops and spikes from hypoglycemia from hoshimotoes. I am trying hard though to moderate my carbs and eat healthier all around. Heck, my breakfast todays consisted partly of greens and cruciferous veggies I harvested yesterday from my potted herb and veggie garden. That included some chard, kale, red cabbage plant leaves, baby broccoli, broccoli and Brussels sprouts plant leaves. It's a mix of Italian seasoned uncooked meatballs and veggies cooked in a rice cooker to make it a easy one pot meal. There's a quarter of a small red onion, 1/2 a yellow bell pepper, and a nice batch of grape tomatoes in there along with 1/4 of a 12 oz jar of chem free mushrooms too. I added ground ginger as one of the seasonings to help with glucose and insulin control. This made easy 2-3 meals worth of food, and I top with some Parmesan. I used half a 12 pack of meatballs and broke them up into smaller meatballs prior to cooking. They ended up about 1/3-1/4 the size of a ping pong ball. Perfect for putting in soup if I wanted. The left-over liquid I plan to save to cook another meal. I don't know what ur opionin of this is or my choc cup recipe, but I agree reading labels is important as is not making things overly complicated. I've found that if I eat one of those peanut butter cups a day I end up going over 50 g net carbs even if I only eat 2 meals, so I might try to not do it that often. And with my glucose drops, omad is out of the question. 2-3 meals with maybe one snack is my max. Though I don't really snack at all, I stick to 2-3 meals.
