All the haters can pound sand. The Sig SP2022 is a great gun. It upholds Sig Sauer's great reputation. We have two of these guns in our family and are excellent and ready for combat. Over 1200 rounds through mine during defensive / combat trainings over the last year and not a single problem and is an accurate gun.
TriggerJunkie I hate to break it to you but you’re not in the military. You can do as much civilian training as you want but you’re not gonna know how to apply it when you need to
Dana White I hate to break it to you, but most people in the military rarely get any consistent small arms training, if any. Not sure what your point is
@@vicknelonis3094 I don't know man. If you train and train as realistic as you can with what is available to you its value added...but anyway I put some rounds through this pistol and it's in my carry rotation
Just acquired one. Have owned Sigs, HKs, Glocks, etc. Have a lot of training time in my 56 years, as well as carrying a weapon on the job. This pistol is one of my all time favorites. Currently in my rotation of daily carry. Great video.
Colion, its funny to see how much you have changed and how much better your videos have become over the years after watching this one from years ago. Keep up the good work.
Love my sp2022, comparatively light, nice capacity, and dependable. At 6’3” and 230 I have no problem with it’s concealability as an EDC. For the price... you can’t beat it!
I've owned two the first one I screwed the pooch I sold it too a friend. I regretted almost immediately and it took me almost took me 2yrs to find one and I actually just bought another one this passed Tuesday. Great content I respect your opinion because how you keep straight
I have had my SP2022 9mm for a couple months now and I absolutely love this handgun. The fit and finish are amazing and this thing is very accurate. First day out taking down soda cans at 30 yards 1st mag. I love the extended trigger guard which allows you to fit gloves in with easy. I'm tempted to go back and get it a 40 cal brother.
Yay! You love the gun I bought - my first handgun! Actually (don't flame me), I have the .40 version of this gun. I got it used at a steal, and with night sights, I couldn't pass it up for my first gun. The grip is like sandpaper, and is seriously solid. I fired it for the first time last weekend, and put 250 rounds through it. the recoil was much lighter than I thought. I was shooting 180 grain ammo, and expected more recoil.
Excellent review. I had never heard of the SP2022 until recently when I saw a used one in a pawn shop for under $250. I did some quick research and headed back that afternoon to buy it. I prefer the way this feels in the hand over my Ruger P95, and Beretta PX4 Storm (both of which I love). I agree that SIG got it right with the grip surface too. All around sweet gun.
I've owned my SP2022 for several years now. Purchased for $599 (In California, hence the higher price) and I love it. I've been a SIG fan since I was 9 years old and was first introduced to hand guns. Mines chambered in .40 S&W and therefore does NOT have the traditional LCI, however on the right side of the chamber IS a small slot where, in decent lighting, you can see if a round is chambered or not. I bought mine with night sights. This gun really does get a bad rap. The poly frame makes for a little more recoil (which is to be expected with the weight drop) but any good shooter who practices will develop the muscle memory and learn to adapt to the recoil. The only two things I'm not a fan of: 1. the grips. But that's just a personal thing for me and you get used to them. There are some alternatives out there to cope with this, but they're few and far between which brings me to my other down side.. 2. Lack of "support" for lack of a better term. Since the SP2022 isn't THE Sig gun (It ain't the 226 or 229) there aren't a lot of ready made options for it such as holsters, replacement grips, etc. I was able to find a Blackhawk stage 1 Serpa for it, and SIG's website DOES offer a few retention holsters, but if you want to get someone that'll handle accessories, it'll most likely have to be custom made. (I mount a TLR 3 on it on occasion and have to use a generic leg system to carry it. I live in an Open Carry state) Overall, despite the couple of short comings I've not been too fond of, I LOVE My SP2022. I carry it every day. I've put 12,000+ rounds through it and every round has gone off and hit the target. I can group consistently 3-4" at 25+ yards. Reloading is a breeze with the well placed mag release. (My reload time is less than 1 second if I'm focused on it and pulling from a mag holder, maybe a full second if pulling from my back pocket). Overall, just because the gun has a poly frame and has a few short comings you're still getting the SIG quality in an affordable hand gun. But the bottom line is it ain't for everyone. Go to your local range and see if they have one to rent. You'll either like it or you won't. That being said, everyone who has fired mine has fallen in love with it, and I know 2 people who went out and bought one after firing mine. :)
With so many polymer framed pistols out there, let me tell you why this is the best. 1. External hammer 2. manual de-cock 3. no safety You just load it and rack the slide and de-cock. At this point it's like a revolver with 15 rounds except it goes SA after the first round fired.
No they have a low bore axis, meaning that the line in which your hand sits, in relation to the bore is low. In the case of the Glock, the line which your hand sits is closer to the line where the bore sits, meaning it has a higher bore axis.
Don't be so rude, maybe he is confused about the topic, but still his videos are good. It has nothing to do with being black, stupid people, always blaming people's mistakes on race. So when yo made a mistake is because you are white? Get serious.
this gun is great for the lefty shooter . reversible mag release. and I use the index finger for slide release and de-cocker. the pad of my trigger fingers fit perfect on the trigger, yeah I try to switch hit with it to form muscle memory. on both hands still have to draw with left . when I switch hands I switch eyes too. something to practice .just in case.
Bless me Father, for I am a SIG-Sauer addict. That being said, my confession should come as something of a shock to the gentle reader. I picked up a 2022 (used, $400, 2 mags, case and papers) and was just the happiest guy. Then it got kinky. I took the little bastard to the range and fed it a mixed diet of reloads and the tupperware wonder just ate them all. Cast, jacketed, it just did not matter. The issue that I had was the grouping. The new kid had charisma, but little grace...
This was my first pistol I've ever owned. For $399 nib, you just cant beat it. I 100% agree with every point you made. I think you should have made the point that it has interchangable grips as well. HUGE pro for me and my large hands. I will also say that I have fed around 1k rounds through it and only a couple failure to ejects. I also like how easy it is to field strip and clean. My #1 gripe is that accessories are very hard to come by.
Hi, my name is JJ and I, too, am a Sig addict. I have owned several, including 2 SP2022s and now my EDC, the P250C. I have never fired a more accurate (in my hand) than the SP2022. I will gladly put either of them up against any other firearm on the market. Nice review and I've enjoyed many of your videos.
I purchased this gun in .40 caliber. I love the way, it feels in my hand. I would rather shoot this firearm, than my Glock 22 any day. As a matter of fact, out of six handguns, the Glock 22 was my worst purchase ever.
Mr. ColionNoir, I greatly enjoy your videos and think you are well spoken. One thing you should know is that if you rest your thumb on the slide release; there is a good chance the slide will not lock to rear upon the last shot. That is because your thumb is applying pressure on the slide release and not allowing it to move up and catch the slide. I learned this when I first started shooting my P229 and had to slightly adjust my grip to prevent that from happening. The SP2022 is a great weapon.
maybe I got a really good one but while qualifying for my permit I had a friend loan me his. I'd never shot one before, hell I'd never heard of one. it was brand new in the box. The first round (of three) I hit a 226 out of a possible 240. The second round i hit 238. The final was a perfect 240. The only problem I had was a few f.t.e's on the first round, but a generous dose of ballistol and a wipe down took care of that. far as I'm concerned any criticism of this piece has to be taken at it's source. It IS a Sig after all. Thanks.
Your video was uploaded dec 2011. I'm curious if you ever thought about revisiting this particular firearm in a "chapter two" video. So much has changed in the polymer world since I was just curious if your impression has changed.
Just picked up one of these this weekend, traded in my s&w sigma for it and love it. chose it over a glock 19c. put 100 rounds though it already and very happy with the purchase. as mentioned...just cant beat the price. i picked it up for $430 (1 magazine, extra grip, and a free Sig red dot...which looks awesome but might go out of focus after so many rounds).
Nice overview. I run this with the tacpack in .40 and simply love this weapon. This accompanies me on my hunting and general use when I feel like I need to open carry. As you mentioned Colion, I agree it is concealable but, for me not my primary conceal, but definitely one of my favorites. If you own a p226 this weapon would compliment it perfectly and you'll feel right at home with it.
Love mine. The Hannibal trigger from Galloway helps with some of the shortcomings of the stock trigger. You forgot to mention the interchangeable grips.
I have had many, and my sp2022 chambered in 40.CAL has been my favorite, shoots very well, the synthetic lower with the steel guide pin, and slide take away a lot of the recoil, and I have no prob at 50 yards. It is big, so I open carry it everywhere, get only compliments on it.
I own a Sig 2022 in 9mm. So far I've put 2000rds through it in 3 different pistol courses. It's very accurate, runs when it's dirty/sandy/muddy, covered in sweat. The Glock 19 beats it on size and I'll recommend the G19 over the 2022 but if you just can't swing the extra $150 for the G19, get a 2022. My 2022 has a worn finish but it's been used a lot. This gun rides in my Xterra constantly and is my "If I have to walk home" gun. Everyone that shoots it is impressed. For $350, I am.
Love mine, I have a P226 MK25 that I Love but picked up the 2022 for a Range Bitch, along with my Gen4 G19.Only downfal, 1 mag. Purchased 2 more at Academy Sports for $39.00 ea. So good 2 go. Great Review. Tks
Colin…enjoy all your vids and take them to heart especially this one, the 2022 is my EDC in 9mm and have installed a stainless steel rod and it feels like I’m shooting a 22cal
I own this in .40 and love it. tis a bit big for an EDC but it's what I use for now. and for the price it's better than a 19 for sure. love the look and feel of it. thanks for this review (I just found it)
This gun is pretty awesome. Very versatile, very reliable and accurate, good home defense, could carry in a pinch, fun at the range. Only problem, if you shoot with your thumb on the slide release like that, the slide won't lock back on the last round. That can throw you for a bit of a loop.
Thanks Colion, great video, I've owned a couple of Sigs, and still have my 229. I tried the Hogue rubber grips, and put the polymer factory grips back on, they feel much better to me. I also love the texture, I think Sig calls it "cat tongue". I never see them at my local gunshops, pity.
Im a little late to all these comments lol, but dont forget the sp2340 (2022 without picatinny rail. The 2340 is my EDC, chambered in both 357 sig and .40 (357 for carry, switch to .40 barrel for range shooting). I love my sig (although i do switch it up once a week between my sig, my taurus 92 and my citadel 1911, but i still love my sig 2340. Very underrated pistol
Own one chambered in .40 and I love it! Some ftf here and there, but I honestly hold myself to blame for that. It is big for concealed but I use a fox hybrid in the pants holster and it feels amazing. Great review on a great platform.
Nice pistol. I just bought the Sig P239 and wife has the P238. I have been looking at the P220 Elite for a while now. I will be adding it to my collection in the coming months. Thanks for the video...!!
Got a lightly used one in 9mm for $380 out the door from a local pawn shop in January 2019. Basically it shoots like my p220 but the ammo is much cheaper. Yes, it's too chunky to conceal carry, but it's a duty weapon, home defense gun, or range gun.
Nice review ! Have considered this for an EDC pistol. Love that SIG compromises on a few of the areas like shipping it in a cardboard box and perhaps only 1 magazine but keeps the price low. The SIG quality and accuracy still seems to come through. Really folks for the price, plus night sights, this is a bargain!
Year 2020: I was trying to get a smith and Wesson. (I have the M&P sport 2 .556), even my edc knife is S&W. But since I live in CA, I found out I can’t get the M&P 2.0 9mm. My friend which has the P226 told me to check out Sig Sauer and since I don’t have $1200 (covid-19 prices) for a P226, I fell in love with the SP2022 9mm. I ordered mine from a local gun shop (mine has to be made then sent to gun shop) I put down $211 for layaway lol while I wait for the gun to get to the shop. I’m super excited and I got the lite night sights on my SIG
I Garcia I went to Turner’s outdoorsman and they sell the sp2022 with Sig night sights. So with the DOJ/DOA applications, taxes, and price of the firearm. The total about came out to be $700.75.
I Garcia I ordered it on June 13, 2020 and my firearm still hasn’t been made by Sig Sauer. Turner’s said they’ll call me within 2-3 months but that’s passed. So I’m think I’ll get it within 2 more months.
Dude I like your reviews but you're driving me nuts! Sigs have HIGH bore axis...you keep saying low bore axis and it may be throwing a lot of inexperienced people off...use your head!!
I just bought this today. Now I have to wait for 10-16 days til I can pick it up because the state is having problems with the processing all the gun purchases. Hopefully no criminals that were released from prison try to break into my house before I can pick up my gun and be able to defend my wife and I. Good ol Cali .
I purchased the one in 9MM and absolutely love this gun. Sig Sauer did not miss a beat. It feels great in the hand and for a double stacked magazine gun it feels pretty thin and not bulky at all when carrying inside the waistband. You cannot be the quality, reliability and it os definitely a combat pistol. I have held and owned a lot of pistols over the years, but I have to Sig Sauer got it right with this gun. I am extremely happy with it. I picked mine up on sale out in Southern California for $510 and ot retails for $679.00. I could not be happier with it. What can I say it is a Sig why should one expect any less of quality in their great firearms.
The SP2022 is in reality the "new and improved" P-228. It's the same size, same bulk, and control system, only less expensive than the -228. The SP2022 has four, rather thick and bold slide rails to handle slide movement, and the only "unSIGlike" issue I can find is the need to pop out the slide stop to remove the slide-barrel assembly versus super convenient rotating lever on the P-series. I love the "sand-paper" texture grips, and the smaller grip that fits perfect...even better than my P-228 and P-229, both with the E2 grip.
Have one in Fde. Got it at rural king for $410. With a $50 rebate. Came with 2 magazine and a holster. (only for the range, not carry concealed). Pistol is bad ass, shoots great out to 30 yards easy. Have the 250, also a great pistol.
Been looking at Sig's, shot the p250 yesterday and was f'n it up killing it. Shoot clay pigieons against a 8' 4x4 at 21'. And just f'edmup. Found out today the 250 was discontinued, I'm siding with you, think I'll pick up the 2022.
you mentioned you like to rest your thumb on the slide release.. I got in the bad habit of doing that with my HK VP9 and noticed that i was preventing the slide from locking back on an empty magazine. Now I have to think about not doing that when i draw from my holster. Do you not experience this problem with the 2022?
I have had a P2022 for about 10 years. It's my back up to my P226. Rock solid and I can count the feeding issues on 2 hands after 10,000+ rounds. Buy it. You will not be disappointed. #2A #SIG
I don't like DA/SA pistols myself. I've grown up shooting Glocks, XDs and now carry a Ruger SR9 as my goto fighting pistol. With that said, I've recently spent a some time shooting the Sig P250. I find the trigger to be smooth, but very long. I don't care for that, so I've decided that my first (and likely only) Sig Sauer pistol will be the 2022. I agree with MrColionNoir that for the price, you just can't beat it. At my local Academy Sports, they have the Sig 2022 for $399 plus tax.

My local gun store selling this sig for only $399 two tone with a free holster. Should i buy it???
if you like the da/sa trigger, why not? sounds like a good deal
ok cool

Fuck yes buy it.
Get it. I have mines for over a year and absolutely love this gun. I even practiced in CC,no issues.I'm a big guy so its no problem for me.

DemocracyOfHypocrisy Couldn't agree more. That's one of the reasons I moved back home to Kentucky. :D
I paid $575 in northern ca about 6 or 7 years ago. Still the best value I’ve paid for a handgun to this day.
With so many polymer framed pistols out there, let me tell you why this is the best.
1. External hammer
2. manual de-cock
3. no safety
You just load it and rack the slide and de-cock. At this point it's like a revolver with 15 rounds except it goes SA after the first round fired.
I have to say aesthetic wise its hard to beat! Looks like the sidearm that robocop would use!
Watching this in the year 2022. So funny to hear an early Colion on RUclips. He’s come a long way
Sigs are known for having a "HIGH" bore axis..Not a low bore axis like you said in your video..
No they have a low bore axis, meaning that the line in which your hand sits, in relation to the bore is low. In the case of the Glock, the line which your hand sits is closer to the line where the bore sits, meaning it has a higher bore axis.
He said that about Glock, not Sig.
He has said that about so many weapons it's not even funny...actually it's my only complaint with this guys videos is he never corrects himself!

This pistol, Steyr M9-A1, and CZ-75 P-01 are all similar and underrated.
its a good platform for a new gun owner, very easy to understand, the field strip takes a bit to get used too.
Just got my 2022 and I love it! A sig that's far more practical than similar sigs at half the price. It's my new permanent carry gun
I came to this review because I knew you would really show me what the trigger looks like... Thank you.
I still need one!
The SP2340 came before this model, it was chambered in .357 sig & .40 SW.
got this in a .40
and the SP2009 in 9mm
both are excellent! thousands of rounds in each. the 2009 is my EDC! love em!
LOL an NRA ad with Mr. Colion Noir while watching Mr. Colion Noir!
This seems like a really piece. I wouldn't mind adding one to my collection.
I really really really don’t like that gun! It’s is for 1. Looks ugly. 2. Looks cheap. 3. Has the worst trigger. 4. Has the highest bore axis
I think the funniest part of moving out of California to a free state will be picking up magazines that are over 10 rounds.. Nice Sig!
And cheaper guns..with the same model...
I own this in .40 and love it. tis a bit big for an EDC but it's what I use for now. and for the price it's better than a 19 for sure. love the look and feel of it. thanks for this review (I just found it)
My friend has one in .40 and I love it! I agree with your review Colion! I hope to be getting mine in .40 soon!
I got the .40 sig 2022 and love it , not my only hand gun but I love this bad boy. Very accurate
ALSO...your reviews are always very solid BTW. Really enjoy them. Thank you.
This gun is pretty awesome. Very versatile, very reliable and accurate, good home defense, could carry in a pinch, fun at the range. Only problem, if you shoot with your thumb on the slide release like that, the slide won't lock back on the last round. That can throw you for a bit of a loop.
Mine is actually a .40 and I love it 😍
I agree 100% with your take on this gun.
If it were not for the Glock 22 I own, the 2022 would be my favorite.
Thanks Colion, great video, I've owned a couple of Sigs, and still have my 229. I tried the Hogue rubber grips, and put the polymer factory grips back on, they feel much better to me. I also love the texture, I think Sig calls it "cat tongue". I never see them at my local gunshops, pity.
i never knew you reviewed this one great choice for first time buyers
Im a little late to all these comments lol, but dont forget the sp2340 (2022 without picatinny rail. The 2340 is my EDC, chambered in both 357 sig and .40 (357 for carry, switch to .40 barrel for range shooting). I love my sig (although i do switch it up once a week between my sig, my taurus 92 and my citadel 1911, but i still love my sig 2340. Very underrated pistol
Thanks for the insight, very intelligent and unbiased!
Great review and could not agree more, the SP2022 is one of the most underrated full size 9mms out there. A bargain Sig
I love my sp2022. Never had any problems. Cool channel man. I subscribed.
Correct i just ordered a .357 barrel and recoil spring. Thanx for the great idea.
This is my ccw, and its way too big and heavy for that, but its the only pistol I own, and it IS winter... It's an awesome piece.
The only Sig I've ever owned was one of these. And I'd have CCed it too, if I could have found a holster for it.
Used Sig Pro Series guns are really cheap now. Especially in .40.
Been looking at this gun and i live in CA as well, how much did it total with the lite night sights?
I Garcia I went to Turner’s outdoorsman and they sell the sp2022 with Sig night sights. So with the DOJ/DOA applications, taxes, and price of the firearm. The total about came out to be $700.75.
I Garcia I ordered it on June 13, 2020 and my firearm still hasn’t been made by Sig Sauer. Turner’s said they’ll call me within 2-3 months but that’s passed. So I’m think I’ll get it within 2 more months.
Is the pinkie extension removable? For concealed carry, I prefer a flat baseplate on the magazine.
I've had one in .40 for over a year and have to say I agree with the review excellent gun and honestly the best buy out there flawless.
Dude I like your reviews but you're driving me nuts! Sigs have HIGH bore axis...you keep saying low bore axis and it may be throwing a lot of inexperienced people off...use your head!!
Just picked one up (barely) used for $375. Can't wait for the range this weekend!
I just bought this today. Now I have to wait for 10-16 days til I can pick it up because the state is having problems with the processing all the gun purchases. Hopefully no criminals that were released from prison try to break into my house before I can pick up my gun and be able to defend my wife and I. Good ol Cali .
Colion Noir have you ever said high/low bore axis the right way round? I honestly can't tell if it is intentional since you still do it in 2016
I think he maybe means to say that your hand grips the gun low compared to the bore and that’s where he got the “low bore axis” thing mixed up.
The French Federal Police carry the 2022.
Watching this in 23 as my Pawn shop sometimes has one used.
I put the Hannibal trigger on mine. Love it!
I have carried the sp2022 chambered in 40 for 8 years love it
The SP2022 is in reality the "new and improved" P-228.
Nice review. I like the grip angle much better than the Glock.
I have the 357/40,Model its cool for the features you mention but the trigger is 'Horrible'!
This is one of the best guns I've ever had. I have the 9
I like the 2022 in the two tone stainless and with the Mec-gar 18 round mags, keep spreading the word .👍
Buds gunshop has em forsale for $400 in FDE with nightsights and a rebate for 2 extra mags and a range bag Just a heads up.
Maybe its because mine was pretty broken in or something but i loved the trigger especially the SA trigger and reset.
It is a very good pistol for the price range. Anybody who says different has never actually handled one.
you mentioned you like to rest your thumb on the slide release..
I have a SP2022 40, absolutely Love it but was surprised that it only had one magazine and a spare was $50.00.
Nice review on a gun I'm interested in buying. Thanks!
