Sig p220 carry all the way. I have both and the G36 imo has poor ergonomics, finger pinch, much more felt recoil, etc. The sig is overall a higher quality gun in my opinion.
I love how glock makes its own bb guns and how they make them look so real ruclips.net/user/postUgkxnX9wE_Q8zvF75Y5iWzTU3Q4FlrtyGApQ , the only thing is that the slide doesn't move back. The sights and the body structure is so similar to a real handgun, fits in my hand perfectly but I actually ordered it with the 40 pack of Co2 tanks and they never arrived even though it said that they handed It to me. Was not able to test the accuracy since I didn't get everything I purchased which is frustrating and that's the whole reason why I got the bundle so it arrives together. So the Co2 tank happens to be a third party so it makes no sense to put it in the bundle if it doesn't get shipped at the same time, the BB gun arrived first then the Co2 tanks were supposed to arrive someday later but didn't, which doesn't make sense. I recommend just ordering the gun itself so you don't get the same issue I ran into plus there's no option for a refund. How stupid.
Had to check when this video was made when you said the 36 is the only single stack in glocks lineup haha. Still a good vid 9 yrs later
I would still pick the Sig
The Glock is great if you're on a budget. I carried it for a couple years and had no problems. However, the Sig (I have the 229 now), is superior in every way. So if you have the money don't waste your time with the Glock.
I've been waiting for this comparison for a while. What the Sig has over the Glock eveyday and twice on Sundays is a what TNP calls "A Second Kind of Cool!"
Good review, I bought my P220 many years ago and love it. I also recently bought a P227. LOVE both, but carry a Glock. I will never like any Glock, own 5, but as a tool, hard to beat.
thank you for a nice, straight forward review, you have helped me make up my mind for a daily carry, the P220 it is, will be ordering today!
Your videos are next level bud. They are much appreciated, and they help me make my firearms decisions. Thanks alot bud.
I have a P220 SAS custom shop compact and they seem to have resolved all of the things you take issue with here. Slightly thinner, carry melted to kill snags, SRT short reach and reset trigger, siglite night sights and no rail(unnecessary on a gun this small IMO). May be worth a second look, Colion Noir!
Solid unbiased review. Thanks for posting
Nice useful review, and the good camera work and vid quality really help.
Thanks!
Quickly becoming my favorite channel for gun table top reviews!
Great review as always Colion. My LGS has them both on sale tomorrow. Was thinkn about the P220. Anyways thanks for the reviews
Thank you for another great video. Very informative.
Great comparison. Thanks for posting.
Great review, honest and informative... You make good videos, keep up the good work, we enjoy them.
Great editing man, i love the vids.
Love the 220c and i put in the srt short reset trigger In all my da/sa sigs excellent upgrade
Great review sir! Thank you
Colion, you've come a long way on your reviews, thanks for defending our choice to carry.
Man you came a loooooong way bro .... i support you 100% .
Great video- very informative.
Great job on the comparison Friend, Thanks
Thank you for a great and very helpful comparison commentary on these two pistols. I'm in the market for a 45 and I was principally wavering between these two over a more conventional 1911. Looks like it'll be the SIG.
Man you have saved me a lot of money on a couple of occasions, thanks!
Your production as of late is getting way better!
That's a dope watch. It stood out more than the guns.
your obviously not a gun guy lol
My SAS gen two fixes so much of the problems or shortcomings of the 220. Especially the single action trigger reset. Love the vids!
I enjoy your videos man. They are usually well planned out (or at least have that feel) and informative without being zealous. I have a P220 and really love it. I think you are dead on about the ergonomics. The feel of the pistol in my hands was the reason I chose the Sig over the Glock and also the reason my groups were consistently tighter - that's what I tell myself anyway. I have come around to giving the Glock a second look for many of the reasons you mentioned. Keep up the good work!
Just picked up a P220 Carry two days ago, already in love with it! Of course, my next will probably be a Glock 22/23, so it's not like I'm taking one over the other...
My girlfriend just bought the P220 today as an early Xmas gift. 2nd Sig I've ever owned. Never did like the G36 when I had it.
Kevin Lempfert i own a sig P220R one of my favorites in my safe.
i also own a glock21sf but its also one of my favorites. both .45 ACP both beasts
i shoot both accurately ive been able to get really small groups at distances out to 35 yards with consistency which is amazing. in other words head shots at distance.
Bryan Calhoun the G21 SF is another one on my must get list. Just purchased the G26 Gen 3 for pretty cheap
Great video by the way. I have a West German Sig Sauer P220
...great Review Collin, I too am agonizing over Carry Guns. Much like yourself, been through the entire Glock Series and starting now with Sig Sauer. Currently toting a M11-A1 9mm in a Ritchie Shoulder Rig w/2 extra mags ';-) Haapy Easter Sir!
You should get another 36 and do a callback video and compare it to what's new today . May be out dated but it's gata have something going for it feel wise . Love your videos man!
Hey brother you do a excellent job man i love all your content please keep up your work ok peace
Great table top. Valid points on both sides. At the end of the day, it all comes down to which one does the individual shoot better. IMO it takes a good 100 rounds to learn a guns idiosyncrasies and get dialed in. Results on paper are where it's at, and training breeds confidence. Everything else is subjective, and little more than a conversation about personal preference.
Went with The SIG
Joe Cannabyte u chose well.
I have both. Buddy and myself both bought a gen 2 36. His kept misfiring. He was upset cause they said he was "limp wristing". Oh he was mad. I had no problem. He traded for the sig p220. Awesome gun.
He passed, I got all his guns so I sold my glock. I miss it. It's smaller. the guy just called me aking if I wanted to buy it back. (So I am). Lol.
I love it as a cc gun. And i also am a glock fan. Love both guns, but I'd choose the sig to.( if I had to choose!)
With the options now offered with the sig 220 this firearm that is ever evolving platform ,
glock is one platform only.
I’ll go with the SIG everyday period, well proven since 1975!
Nice comparisons. I carry the 36 (CCW)...but to each his own I guess!
Love the little drop down arrows showing statistics. I think it's a great idea and definitely a plus.. in case you wanted some feedback about it lol
worked great!
Great vid as always sir. Recently I put a Ghost Ultimate 3.5 trigger connector in my Glock 19 carry gun, during the connector installation I went ahead and did the "25 cent Glock trigger job" and boy is that trigger smooooth. I wish I would've done this a long time ago...I mean for me it's the perfect trigger. You should give this a try, the connector is only $14 and it's very easy to install.
Colion I routinely carry a SIG 220, 220 Compact, or 227 45 ACP as a back up to my Kimber K6S because I am an old man and grew up shooting a 1911 :) That being said the 45 ACP is great for a carry gun if you can shoot it :) I do these mods to the SIG in the all metal P series : SRT sear, Amory Craft or Gray Guns flat trigger (the Gray Guns flat trigger comes with a new trigger bar too that lightens the feel of the trigger pull weight as well), Armory Craft big X series style take down lever for same offhand hold on the gun, Armory Craft skeletonized trigger (my thoughts if using lightened hammer spring to use a lighter hammer itself), 17 Pound hammer spring, and match weight sear spring. It gives you a lighter but deliberate double action pull and a nice single action pull weight with a very short reset :) The flat trigger lends itself to a fast reset as well so great for followup shots.
Good review, man. I have used both Sigs and Glocks in the line of duty and my preference is towards the Sig side of things, I found ways to mitigate the weight of my issue 220SAO and 226 through proper application of support gear such as good holsters and belts as well as modes of dress, never had a snag. One thing I would do is see if you can reliably load a full size or even ten round 220 magazine into the P220 Compact as that might be the game changer and get you those two extra + rounds!
great vid and great points. Still looking to get a Sig p226 in my inventory.
Great insight! Thank you. The more I think about it, 2 rounds...compared to comfort, and concealment...
SIG & Sauer also makes a 245, its a 220 Compact with a short grip, an awesome carry gun and close to a glock 36 in size, but its just 6 + 1 as i know.
Coli, the 220 is always a single stack. That's how it was made.
Love my sig p220. Mine has the hogue grips, which gives the gun a better and comfortable grip.
Great video. I agree about the weight issue. I have held both n the sig is too heavy for me due to having back problems. The weight is important as well as other factors for myself. So great video keep up the good work.
I only browsed through your video, but I suggest getting a SRT kit installed and you will like the single action trigger break much better. Furthermore I know it sounds silly but if you leave the pistol chamber open and slide locked to rear over a weekend or so it will compress that hammer spring a little and give you a smoother double action pull. Good Luck!
Cool video. Subbed
Love the review. The reason the Glock 36 has those serrations on the trigger is to raise their score with the
Good review.....
Two words,,,,, Well done.
Great comparisons. Both work well and are reliable. I still prefer Sig.
I love my G21 and G41 due to their simplicity and My SIG P220 because of its complexity, am I wrong?
Go for the P220 Carry, trust me I have the carry and the compact and find the grip on the compact to be just a little smaller than I would prefer. The P220 carry has a fullsize grip and a shorter slide and is perfect.
I also have the Glock 30 and with the grip extensions it is just fine
Sig needs to release a p220 that shares mags with the p320 15rs 10mm mags
btw, the 220 has been single-stack since its introduction.
I have a P220 in 9 mm in my house but never shot the .45 version so far. Would love to though! ;)
Thanks for the review. i have a 36 and thinking about sig. thanks for sharing.
Also lol'd when you said 36 is bastard child of glock. so true, try to find accessories for it...
I want to find a version of this P220 bad!
good video!
I've never shot a Sig, but it's a sweet looking firearm IMO. I'm definitely going to try one out before I buy.
Can you provide a video for types of carrying holsters for the SIG Sauer
I love shooting Sigs and the P220 would be ideal IF I could enjoy carrying it concealed. But after much research and live fire testing of several other choices, I went with the G36. Of course you can shoot a Sig better because a heavy gun is just flat out easier to shoot well. But for sheepdog work, G36 is there for emergency use. Guns like Sig, H&K - those are for professional gun slingers, in my opinion. Excellent video talking about both BroCo ...
I prefer the G36 due to its conceal ability, light weight and snag free design.
Very good comparison vid buddy, keep up the great work!
How light.. for the sig though compact feel like u packing a five pd. Weight on ur hip😖 . I secure point if ur concealing . Hard to conceal a sig 1911 the handle just as long as the barrel
nice video, good content and you have some skill in your videos
I own a couple 220s and was excited to see the 227 come out. Once I had it in my hands though I was not so excited. I love the slimmer grips of the 220 and also the trigger of the 220. I have a couple 226s which is what the 227 is based off of, and to be honest that's what it felt like. A big fat wad of sig in your hands. Try both before you buy, if you're like me 2 extra rounds dont matter on the 227.
*QUESTION* MR. Colion Noir.
I am very Interested In the Sig Sauer P220 Compact you reviewed in this video above.
I been searching for the gun with model name above, but they quite don't look like the one in your video. Could yo please tell me what exact name and model the Sig Sauer is?
thank you. Great Video.
Yesterday I went to the range and shot the full size version of this.
Sig is a beautiful gun, but only 8 rounds and very heavy and snaggy.
I carry my p220 combat daily with two 10 rd mags on my left hip to balance out my hips. I went to that after carrying a sig p238 and I feel its not too heavy I just can tell im wearing a gun and with the 238 I forget im wearing it. and I carry all day long and night untill I go to bed. I wear it all day so Im used to it and so I never forget to take it with me.
my sig is about 3 years old and still looks like the day i bought it, the trick with the nitron finish on the sig slides is to wipe it down with a silicone cloth really good, i mean get it really caked and greasy and then kind of buff it out with a clean soft rag like you would a car. the finish comes out looking perfect ill guarantee it. most people use a silicone cloth and leave all the wet silicone on the gun, it gives it a deep black look but it also makes it look greasy, not the right way.
The Sig's double action trigger pull is easier when you drop the hammer with the safety.
I really like sig. This is some what of a tie for me tho. The size vs capacity is so close i would have a hard time choosing. However im a da/sa shooter so i would have to take the sig. Trigger is just more natural, 'for me' that is. However, I like glock too so either would be okay with me if i had no choice. I simply have more time on a sig/beretta type trigger system so its more in my muscle memory. As for concealability, i carry a full frame firearm every day, so again its a tie with these two size wise. It literally boils down to just the trigger for me.
I put Hogue Rubber Grips w/finger grooves on the P220. Really great feel in the hands. But I'm in SoCal, so I don't carry.
The P220 Compact IS the P245, except it has a machined slide instead of a folded slide. Both have the same barrel length, grip length, and 6+1 capacity.
Beauty, they say, is in the eyes of the beholder. I've had Glocks since the Gen 1's. I decided on the 9mm as my caliber of choice and I must say that my 9mm Glocks have never let me down, not once. There are several things that I admire about the Glock. Their reliability is second to none, in my experience anyway. And their simplicity is a real plus to me. They are more accurate than they have any right to be and their spongey triggers can be made to be both light and smoooooth.
The gun looks great but I'm having issues with the reset, I contacted Springfield and according to them I still need to break the gun a little more, for them 50 rounds are not enough. The breaking period is at list 200 rounds, also they told me to use oil on the moving parts.....I will take the gun to the range this week and put another 150 rounds through it and keep you posted.
I own a glock 27, but that being said my next pistol will be an xd45 dark earth stainless, or the sig scorpion 1911, love that 1911! Great vid bro
I say go with the P220.
.45ACP is too slow so you need something that can handle really hot +P.
the SIGs weight makes it absorb recoil , so as a range gun for target and competitive shooting it would excel
I'm a Sig man, but you made since good points about snagging... may find myself buying a Glock... or possibly a P938 (even though the 938 is a 9mm and not a .45)
Buy a P227. I like my P227 a lot more than my Glock 36, but that's just my preference.
Been a S&W guy all my life. Had a Shield .45 I hated and was unreliable. Traded it on a G30, felt like getting a divorce. A year later I'm a solid Glock fan.
I don't understand people whining "my hands are too big for that small gun..." Uh, get a double stack?
Then they whine "this gun is too thick..." geez Goldilocks, I'm 5'6", never wear sloppy clothes, and the G30 is perfectly comfortable in my hand and easy to carry concealed.
SIG's get strange looks for the high-riding slides but that doesn't detract from their accuracy. My brother's P220 lived up to the reputation of it being the most accurate .45 out of the box. The only other platform I'd consider for a .45 would be the 1911, which SIG also makes!
Someone may have already said this, I don't know, but the Sig slide release is only stiff because you've got an empty mag in there. If you remove the mag, or are loading from a full mag, the slide release should function much more easily.
A Short Reset Trigger fixes alot of problems on the standard set up. The Initial creep stays, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It won't fix the staging, but in all seriousness your not supposed to stage because it teaches bad safety habits. The reset however is short and crisp with no creep whatsoever and it's right on the break so there will be no room to stage.
get both-
I have a SIG P220 elite. The manual of arms is different and the mechanics more conventional. It's hammer fired and has a decoking lever. A kydex holster should be used for both weapons due to a lack of a true safety lever.
Good video. I prefer the 36 with a carry-clip.
Maybe its the same thickness when measuring the slide, but the body of the gun (handle) is definitely smaller in terms of width. Hence, the single stack mag.
I have a Glock and a XDm at .45 compact. Hands down the XDm because of its Character and ease to field strip.
wow, been watching your videos lately. you have a lot of handguns
The best caliber is the one that you carry n any given day. Shot placement cranial hits tend to be a one shot solution.
Love both equally but if i cant use an hk 45 mark 23 im going with sig p220. Though i want a glock 30 or perhaps this... Kinda eyeing the hk45 though.
I agree with everything you just said. Sig P220 all the way. If you've seen one Glock you've seen them all.
I love the videos, but I just wanted to point out that all P220 are single stack. The P220 carry just has a lower mag capacity. The P220 carry also has a smaller slide than the regular P220.
P227 is what most are waiting for. Basically, 220 dbl stack .45! 4.4 and 3.9, full and carry size. For me SRT is not an option on all my sigs, so P227 SAS Gen 2 Carry 10rnds, 14 rnd extended mags available as well!
What's weird is: a SIG 220 in comparison of capacity to a 1911 is generally pretty similar! Thing is, 1911's are heavy no matter what barrel length.
