** SPOILER ALERT ** I enjoyed watching Grave Encounters. It was a bunch of hooey at first, as we saw Preston and crew even paying off a groundskeeper to say that he saw ghostly sightings. Then, as time went on, and Sasha's hair got messed with, we knew that this was no failed attempt at detecting paranormal goings on. The movie got extra creepy when they showed the food they packed in their lunch box had rotted, as if they were there over a month, with nobody eating any. That was a very creepy effect. The time shift was really bizarre, too, as it was 6am, and was still dark. It then became 2pm, and it was still dark. They were there less than 24 hours, and it seemed like an eternity. They literally had NO escape from the hospital! The last part, where they showed the ritualistic objects, like the skull, and candles, and strange symbolism on the ground, was stuff of nightmares. Then they showed the book of spells, and that was especially creepy. The area seemed to be encased in spider webs, as if the area had not been had any human contact in a lonnnng time. This area of the underground office showed proof that the doctor was dabbling into some black magic. It was quite a creepy movie, and i watch it again from time to time.

Nightmare Bendy considering the state of the dimension they are inhabiting and the head doc dabbling in dark arts. I'd say it was conditional augmentation given to the beings of the doctor's choosing. IE his experiments which pretty much means 99.9% of the inhabitants of that ghostly dimension. As long as they are under his control, they get their power. Judging from how many souls he harvested and twisted, he's got enough to empower all his pawns
I've always thought of the supernatural elements as 4 groups. The good doctor's satanic rituals managed (with purpose or not) to summon a demon or some other malicious entity, this spirit is running the hospital and its changes. The doctor, due to his involvement in the summoning is damned to remain. His nurses, similarly reasoned, were also damned. Then there's the patents; all the glowing orbs and more physical interaction with the GE crew than the other entities. In the same way that the deceased are somewhat unaware of their situation, the patients treat the crew as fellow inmates, the nurses seem to be doing rounds of some kind or another and, upon discovering the crew, seem confused as the crew is wearing street clothes from an unfamiliar decade, they decide to tag them and treat them like any other patients (poorly). The doctor probably knows to some extent, given he was invested in this type of magik. So the nurses are doing rounds, the patients are afraid and some lash out when seemingly threatened (like the little girl in the corner, her face didn't change until she turned and saw the crew. The hospital, though, is the truly malevolent entity, forcing people through the maze and (Spoiler Alert for a nine year old movie) attempts to draw in more people. My theory for that is that since we see the doctor and nurses performing a ritualistic lobotomy, the hospital's demon can feed on the energy, so long as there are always patients of some kind, alive, giving reasonable motive to develop a system to lure people under the guise of a feature film as well as the student project to wet the lips of viewers. I might be overthinking it, but the idea came from The Others, following a family and service staff as they discover that their home is haunted, by them, they're the ghosts, and we get to see how the ghosts see their surroundings and behave when provoked by the living that they may be unable to detect at any given time.

How can anyone be too scared to watch horror movies? I looove them, I'm like a horror afficionado. I watch all of them even if they have terrible rating or are acclaimed to be too scary to watch.
What would the spirits do if they got some Dali Lama dude who just meditated and ignored them, or simply spoke wisdom like "You must find peace within before you can find peace without". Surely since all of the stuff is fundamentally mental health would just rekt them?
Buddism have some serious hax against evil spirits. Someone enlightened would just utter a prayer and perceive the hospital as nothingness then it’d cease to be
This movie and its sequel were genuinely some of the best found footage horror movies I've ever seen. Do they use a lot of tired tropes? Sure, but the whole production worked together to bring as unique a movie forward as it could. Some of the jump scares were truly terrifying and the psychological aspect of the group slowly unraveling until it's just the one guy left was pretty spectacular. Overall, I can see where this movie deserves some criticism, but these definitely deserve their place in the found footage hall of fame

Grave Encounters is one of my favorite horror films ever. I thought it was gonna be crap but it just turned out so good.

TheAllSeeingEye exactly lol man I've seen this movie over and over till Netflix removed it
TheAllSeeingEye what's it called
Lil Kami This is the dumbest comment I’ve ever seen.
The Fifth Horsemen what LMAO
It’s called Ghosts 👻
In all fairness, The Visit's ending is self explanatory. They literally explain every little bit of what happened. American Psycho has a lot of ambiguity to its ending. *thats* what we need explained

The Degenerate please don’t eat my ass spirits
This whole movie (and it's second part) has the acting, and the looks of a very weird porno.
4:45 What I believe the producer meant by "...over 70 hours of footage.." was that all of the cameras combined held over 70 hours of footage and there were plenty of cameras.
i think each of cameras have 70 hours on tape, but I can be wrong
I love both Grave Encounters movies. They are scary because you never really see the spirits. You only get glimpses.
TootsiesCreationz
What are you talking about?? You actually do see the ghosts. -_-
I’ve seen the first one so far and I’ve seen what they look like.
Now I gotta check the second one out
@@Blitz-dm3kv This movie is so bad even for bad horror movie standards. Remember watching this with a friend at 3 a.m., trying to get scared. We finished having a hell of a time, we laughed so hard at the VFXs and the plot. Then we watched Grave Encounters 2 and fell asleep cause we were already tired of laughing at the first one.

The first 20 minutes of this film is parody and really funny. Especially when they ask ppl about ghosts
The Grave Encounters Hospital really sounds like something out of the SCP universe. Gives off 3008 vibes

I think that Grave Encounters is scarier than The Blair Witch Project. Probably because I wasn't paying attention to Blair Witch.
Nah, Blair with never has any actual jump scares or tension since the whole movie IS tension leading to the finale but since its boring the tension dies by the first 30 minutes
I think the horror of the blair witch was of the time, found footage was still not a thing so everything looked real. I think you can't get the same feeling now that you would have had when the film was first released

that's not a secret language, its norse runes. with that in mind I actually could read the word matter but I can't really make anything else out because its blurry. but I know for a fact that its norse runes.
ghosttown wow that’s actually really neat
This hospital must've had a different backstory
these are indeed runes of the Old futhark (used in several of the Germanic cultures and not just the old norse actually) but it is strange what is written, the first part of the larger paragraph to the right goes "sleahu a relatianswih is at first the massian frmes aim..." which it seems like pure gibberish, it is NOT old norse language, but might be a mix of english and possibly old germanic
interesting but really strange
God of War taught me the same lol
I wish camera batteries lasted as long as they supposably do in these found footage films
The ending you did was soooooooo believable, you should have your own show. I got chills man especially when you said the room was chilly
I’m having a corpse party moment
6:25 So thats were that thumbnail came from
Yep, that was my first thought too
*Where
At 8:32 Did earths gravity just reduce? Or that thing has super strenght
I mean, we are talking about interdimensional ghosts. Anything is possible
Larry Belenossi I don't think ghosts are interdemensional
They just can affect the time and everything around them
I guess the super strength option is valid then
what happens at 8:32 that has super strengh
I might be overthinking it, but the idea came from The Others, following a family and service staff as they discover that their home is haunted, by them, they're the ghosts, and we get to see how the ghosts see their surroundings and behave when provoked by the living that they may be unable to detect at any given time.
no way out, I see a window and trolleys. you know what I am thinking
wwgaming my best guess of what would happen is that they just end up in another hallway
all of the windows have steel grates on them, except for the ones on the top floors where the drop is deadly.
