- My first review style video for RUclips featuring the Epiphone 'Everly' SQ180.
This provides an overview of the guitar as well as some Everly Brothers related information. All the guitar parts were recorded with a AKG C1000s into a Focusrite Scarlett2i4 pre amp, a very simple set up.
A touch of Reverb was added courtesy of Waves Abbey Road Reverb Plates plug in with a touch of compression. I wanted the true tone of the guitar to be heard therefore I used effects sparingly..
If you enjoyed the video, please like, share and subscribe to my channel. Also, if anyone would like a video lesson based on any of the songs featured on my channel then drop me a comment and I'd be happy to oblige.

Very good taste
The song was " I'm Afraid" written by Don Everly
Well done
Thanks x
Cat Stevens also had and loved the Gibson Everly.
Some early Epiphone SQ-180s are actually rebadged Hondo little suzie LS-55s.
The hondo ones are top notch too and due to the name command less money.
Steve here from Foreverly Everly brothers tribute well done

Great job, love the Evs. Keep their music alive. I’m looking for an SQ180 to buy
Thank you for your kind words, good luck with finding an SQ180, I've seen a few for sale recently..
@@wdbmusicchannel3849 I decide to buy on of the new designed an Epi J200, pick it up today
I am afraid
👍💐
Great recreation of that famous Everly's sound - what software are you using on the laptop - Q base ? did you do any re-engineering of the recorded sound - eg: adding effects etc. Really enjoyed the video - would like to see some more of these - cheers for sharing
Hi Clive, using Cubase, a very simple set up tbh. Just added a touch of compression and bit of reverb, didn't want to muddy the tone of the guitar with too many effects. Thanks for your feedback Clive.. much appreciated as always. 👍
@@wdbmusicchannel3849 Cheers Wayne - be good to hear a recorded rendition of "Wake Up Little Susie"
I'm so afraid
Lovely demo and authentic sounds I’m impressed. I was wondering as I have the opportunity to buy the same guitar sq 180 what it sounded like unprocessed. I play quite a bit of finger style and was wondering does it have any bottom end in the bass etc. I know we’re all different but I just think it’s a cool guitar and I met Phil and Don back stage between two shows that they were doing in the Opera House in Belfast 1986. So I’m a fan but I don’t really want a sq 180 to cover Everleys songs. Any advice would be appreciated thanks. I have some nice acoustics but I’m looking for another guitar that inspires me to keep playing. I have some songs posted on RUclips if you care to look. Another guy on RUclips is noodling on on of these and it seems to have a reasonable bottom end. I would like to know your opinion. Many thanks in advance if you can help. 🌌🕊🌠
It has a very balanced sound / tone for strumming. My only gripe with this model is the fretboard / nut size, it is quite narrow, making it difficult to do anything intricate. The best thing is to try one before you buy, if you can. Thanks for the watching and if you have more questions, I'd be happy to help.. 👍
Btw. . The only processing in this video is the reverb. There is nothing else added..
wdb music thanks so very much for the reply. I’m not keen on narrow nut width guitars , but I may do the 90mile round trip to check it out. Just in case I’m missing something that could inspire me to play. Thanks again 🌌👍
wdb music Sounds excellent, and thank you for explaining that. 🌌👌
Its that nut/neck width that made me not use mine. I bought it new in '92.
Did the later ones have wider necks ?
Sounds every bit as good as the Gibson j180 if not better
It's certainly close...
