- Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members Phil and Don Everly, performing together as The Everly Brothers, were among the most popular artists in the world during the early rock era of the 1950s and early 1960s. Their seamless, soaring harmonies were supported by their driving rhythm parts played on matching Gibson acoustic guitars. Gibson is proud to celebrate their rich musical legacy with the return of the Everly Brothers J-180 to the core Custom Shop Artist model lineup. Featuring a maple body and Sitka spruce top, the Everly Brothers J-180 is replete with all of the decorative details that make the Gibson Everly Brothers models instantly recognizable, including an Ebony gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, double tortoise moustache pickguards designed in cooperation with the Everly Brothers, and mother of pearl star inlays on the headstock and neck. The Everly Brothers J-180 also features a bone nut, TUSQ® bridge pins and saddle, and Grover® Rotomatic® tuners with Keystone buttons. It comes with an L.R. Baggs™ VTC under-saddle pickup and preamp, making it stage and studio-ready the moment you take it out of the included hardshell case.

What a beauty, what a sound!!!
We used these for a long time at live gigs. They amplify to a beautiful sound.!!
Jangly/Sparkly are both good terms, I’d like to see more small jumbos, this and the J-185, and especially a comeback of the SJ-200 Parlor
I saw the final EBros tour in Atlantic City, the band included the amazing Albert Lee and the maestro of pedal steel, Buddy Emmons.
Graham Nash is a huge fan of the Everly Brothers music.
I bought my J180 because of Cat Stevens, I loved the sound he got from his.
Worst thing I did was selling it, miss it every day. If you get one, keep it!
Cat Stevens now plays J200
@@lebe220 Correct!.
He's played a J200 since his J180 got stolen around '71. I believe he's recovered now, unbelievably, still plays and loves the J180.
@@maxwellfan55 I think his solo guitarist played a Martin; not sure though. Greetings from germany (I always loved the guitar sound of Cats Stevens).
Like most old guys, I first picked up a guitar because of the Beatles. But, I KEPT playing it, because I wanted to play Cat Stevens and Paul Simon songs…. I still play Wind of My Soul, and How Can I Tell You, in my shows.
I was gonna say that people need only Google "Father and Son" to get the idea of what a guitar has been. People saying he plays a J-200 now, but I don't remember seeing him play anything but a J-185 since he made his comeback.
A real beauty!
I have wanted an Everly Gibson ever since I saw the Reunion Concert on VHS in 1984.
Good one guys! A previous iteration of that same guitar was featured in the movie August Rush; great playing as always Quinton! And I love That you tossed in a water law term to describe it's playability.... Navigable!
Looks good, and sounds nice. Would love that.
Paul on the double pick guard: “That kind of kills the top a little bit.” What???😂😂😂
Of course..the boys owe much of their success to some great songs written by the husband and wife songwriting team; Felice and Boudleaux Bryant.
OHHH!! I've been wanting an Everly Brothers model since the first time I saw them with them in the 50's. They've always been hard to find and too expensive. I hope Epiphone will make one too.
Epiphone did come out with a similar model - double pick guards but no Everly truss rod cover.
@@Deathgirl1912where? They just came out with one but there’s no pickguards
The sons of well known country guitarist, Ike Everly, like taught them to play and harmonize. Among the first r&r idols in the 50’s , the also wrote some of their tunes although the Bryant’s wrote the big ones. Their influence is omnipresent, while not the first harmony group they may have been the first r&r duet and taught the world to sing harmony.
Quinton has a BS, MS, PhD, and a JD. And he plays awesome and is ripped. Everyone should aspire to be like Quinton.
Thank you for the very generous words (where should I send the check)! :)
AwAwesome
Now an Epiphone Inspired By Everely Bros. J180
I like everything about it except the pickguard
Cathy´s Clown inspired the Beatles
The body size is a little smaller than the J-185 (I believe)
Cool guitar.
Did they ever made a J-185 in Mahogany?
Yes, in more recent years. Also with Walnut B and Ss. This model , J180 Everly, no as far as I can find. I have catalogs from the 1960 s and they show only Maple B and S. Gibson, though, back then, was famous for limited runs of some models in different woods or configurations.
Two guys who had a couple of nice songs together were Simon and Garfunkel. You may have heard of them. 🥴
And Simon and Garfunkel were heavily influenced by Don and Phil. Their stuff as Tom & Jerry are direct copies of the Everly’s and Don and Phil’s last tour was with S&G
@@Deathgirl1912 : I believe you. 😊
It's really quite unpleasant when the guy on the left is saying something... then the guy on the right just randomly starts talking because I assume he doesn't feel like he should wait for his turn, and neither of them stop, it doesn't really come across well on video two voices talking over each other
Why does he call it a j185?
Same size and shape guitar ?
@@jimdoner3443 the shape is very similar but not identical and the j185 doesn't have the mustache pickguards
That's just me messing up - apologies :)
@@quintonking9960 are you the guy in the video? Lol
@@quintonking9960how does this version compare to the Billie Joe signature j180?
Woohoo Proclaimers 🏴
