The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Best version of this song. Listen to Phil’s voice when he sings “I know it touches the soul”. Pure perfection. None better.
They certainly rehearsed a ton over the years to become such fantastic performers, but I’m still so impressed by how naturally and effortlessly they perform
They started out as little kids on their parents radio show. Rehearsing per se wasn't even necessary.
In the middle of the 67 craziness and explosion of rock, pop and soul not to mention the Summer of Love, "Bowling Green" was one of those classics, that while not a number one song then, it has ensued as one of the Brother's best songs. Best harmonies ever!
Best two part harmanys anywhere.
Their music will last forever. The best duo! ❤
I’ve always loved the song “Bowling Green”. I like this live version so much more than the recorded version. Both of them looked so great in this video.
I’m from bowling green
@@daltonthomas9758 well, bless your heart❤!!!
so's my Corvette!
Esp the ADORABLE Phil ❤
Sie haben sehr oft Orte besungen.
Much better live than studio version. Thanks for posting this. Rip Don and Phil singing like angels in heaven
RIP to the Foreverly Brothers.
Keep Bowling Green in your thoughts and prayers due to the massive loss of lives and property during the tornado a few days ago.
This was Ed Sullivan's last season after 23 years on TV as it would sign off for good a few months after this telecast.
I love thier songs back then still do ! I saw them in concert two times once with my sister at Summer Fest and another time with she me and Mom somewhere ! They were awesome in concert !
These two are Paul McCartney's all time favorite musicians. He wrote On the Wings of a NIghtingale for them, an honor for him. No harmonies have ever touched the Everlys. Too bad they had a rough road. Their voices are from the angels.
The best duo in the world 💛 RIP Phil & Don
Their very last top 40 hit which scraped into the top 40 in 1967
It should have done so much better. It was such a fabulous song.
Rip everly brothers. You are the greatest.
So good. RIP Don
My hometown❤
Zu der Zeit waren sie ja unbeschreiblich süss.
Phil so von der Nähe❤❤❤❤
Love Don's hair omg. Rip both amazing artists 💯
i grew up in bowling green ky great song
Excellent song!!! Phil and Don Everly are about the greatest harmonizers ever!
In my opinion, Buck Owens and Don Rich belong right up there with Phil and Don.
These guys were marvelous
Prayers for those in Bowling Green (and other locations) after the December 2021 tornadoes.
Brilliant those two guys were sensational best ever ,now they are no longer with us may they rest in peace
They're so fun to watch. Amazing music from these two, especially live
I recently visited Bowling Green, KY and this song is right on the money. Love this version, much better and more energy than the studio version.
We sing this every time we drive through BG.
They should have recorded it this way!
Agree.. it's a thousand times better than the released version..
@@wdbmusicchannel3849 If you're talking about the version with the whistling in the intro, I totally agree
there's a demo version out there as well as a live at the BBC version; I think it's on streaming services; it sounds a lot like this version
@@YeahRightInc I think the demo with the whisteling in the beginning is much better than the released master!
One of my favorite songs that I recently discovered. I grew up listening to the Everly Brothers because my parents played them quite often but I had never heard this song and it's simply beautiful
Thank you for posting this classic performance by The Everlys. I always loved this performance !
This Everly Brothers song only made it to #40 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the late, great year of 1967. Should've gone way higher. The recorded version was a masterpiece.
It was their last top 40 hit.
@@MostlyBrenda Yes. And one of the brothers' best.
Rest assured it was likely much more popular in the general area than a song that stops at #40 would indicate. It has since been rediscovered and can be heard on 60s radio stations and I even heard it once on Walmart's PA system.
“Bowling Green” was #1 in many parts of Canada.
Exquisite harmony and phrasing AND they're doing it live and differently than on the record.
I was in Bowling Green several times as an attorney while handling a couple of lawsuits there. I can assure you it is the kind of city that they sing about.
I know it will recover from the terrible tornado, despite the damage there. Imagine a family of seven being completely wiped out. Please donate to Kentucky tornado relief with whichever of many agencies you prefer.
They did those harmonies as easily as eating.
Who got emotional when they saw Don Everly?
Me 😭😭😭
Don was handsome. They both really were gorgeous and man could they sing!
Me
Me… I ALWAYS get emotional when I see or hear the fabulously handsome and sexy Don Everly.
What about phil?
My fave song from this fantastic duo.
Love the vid that goes with this song ❤❤
Driving through Bowling Greeñ
Kentucky
Please show Ed Sullivan introducing the guests, musical acts!! You guys have stopped doing that!!
Kentucky girl here about 1 1/2 hrs from BG❤
I think this is one of the last Ed Sullivan Shows ever.
Yes, exactly one month later would be Ed’s final live show.
Chris hillman said once the the everlys were a huge influence on the byrds and the flying burrito brothers
It is well that Don died in August 2021. He would have hated to see the tornadoes sweep through Kentucky and Bowling Green. Considering it is where he grew up in and this song, it would have probably devastated him.
Don auch mit süssem Näschen😊..... so von der Seite
Holy Toledo!
That is the title of a Green Day song...
@@v-g-z3689 Nobody asked.
@@arlingtonhynesTrue, just sometimes one feels the urge to say something unimportant. Stupid thing to do, sorry.
Sie haben sehr oft Orte besungen.
Notice no eye contact.
Typical for their 1970´s performances. You see them doing it all the way to the late 60´s and then again from the 80´s onwards. But in the 70´s, they hardly ever looked at each other when performing.
Phil look like John Davidson
What?!? Phil looks nothing like John Davidson, if anything, John Davidson looks like Phil!
Phil looks GORGEOUS!!!!
'phil and don'.
Did Neil Diamond write this song?
No. The song was written by Terry Slater (who played bass for the Everlys in the mid to late 1960s) and Jacqueline Ertel (who was married to Phil from 1963 - 1970).
@@cak8132 Thanks. It sounded to me like a Neil Diamond song.
No
