Hi, Dr. Laby, where should a tennis player focus their gaze when returning a serve?

Hey doc quick question how would you use quiet eye In mma you are supposed to look at their chest and use you peripheral vision to see the movements of the shoulders and hips etc. so would quiet eye even be applicable because I imagine you don’t want to focus your eyes on his chest just place your gaze there?

The key is to not move your eyes around - eye movements take about 250-300 msec to plan in the brain before the eyes move - if you are "busy" looking around, you are not concentrating fully on your opponent. Best to keep a steady fixation and use central/peripheral vision to gain the advantage!

It's possible, but I don't have enough information on the specifics here to make that determination. In general the risk from the shot is lower than the risk of disease, making it better to get the shot - but specific cases need to be evaluated on an individual basis. We used to say that even if the risk is 1%, if you get it then it becomes 100%
