  • Framing an 8'x9' mudroom/entry addition on a house. On this job I just set the camera up on the tailgate of my truck and got some video of the build. Part 1 shows the installation of the sill plates, box joists, floor joists, and OSB decking.

    Don't be so hard on yourself! You didn't have to explain anything, most if the time I enjoy a quick and quiet video just watching how someone else does the job. It was great! Just needed a good basic idea. Thinking about adding on a third room so our boys don't have to share anymore.

    I only wish I had a home to add onto...
    I have a 1 bedroom condo, but at least I have a back yard (10x25) if you can call it a back yard. I have patio, a grill and some grass (amazon fake grass lol.)

    What was sticking up through the cylinder blocks, that you put wood on and screwed it down? I like what have seen. Please and thank you for commenting.

      Anchor bolts, as the block is getting laid, the bolts get held in place with mortar.

    Any tips for adding a room to a travel trailer as we'd like to add a room off our sliding door so there is more room and one extra so if family member stays there is a room and bed for them but haven't been able to find much on converting or adding a addition to a travel trailer like what we want any tips

      I’ve never done an addition on a travel trailer, I’d definitely check into zoning and building codes if you’re going to do that though!

    On the block work , I noticed you have some type of paper barrier , what is it called ? Also the bock has screws to tight down your treated 2x10 , how did you have it inside the black ?

    • @MyDIYAdventures
      @MyDIYAdventures  3 года назад +2

      It is a sill gasket that goes down before the plate, and the bolts are mortared in. Here’s another build series that shows it in more detail: ruclips.net/p/PLhCJj4xH2v-dzxlX-cIkq_o0lKo78AZKu

      I’m not sure that foundation had any vents, if I recall correctly, it was open to the basement.

    • @MyDIYAdventures
      @MyDIYAdventures  2 года назад +3

      I’m not sure of the total cost, I just framed it for a contractor. Probably $12-$15,000 fully finished.

    • @MyDIYAdventures
      @MyDIYAdventures  2 года назад +2

      The blocks start a little bit below grade, but they sit on the concrete footer that goes 36-40” below grade.

    • @MyDIYAdventures

      That is a sill seal, it’s a foam gasket that goes between the foundation and the sill plates.

    • @MyDIYAdventures
      @MyDIYAdventures  4 года назад +2

      Where I am, the whole city government is housed in one building downtown. If you live in a smaller town, maybe the Chamber of Commerce could let you know who to call. If you’re in a really rural area, sometimes they done even have building permits required.
