  • Yes, it's amazing that all that lumber survived that fall!
    They did the entire addition in 6 working day and that included getting rained out for a half day.
    Yes I did help lift up one wall!
    Most of the time I was just getting in their way so I put up time lapse videos of all the work being done.
    Turned out awesome.
    Passed inspection so now it’s time for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. From here on out I will be doing a majority of the work so there will be more detailed videos.
    Check out my latest videos for the finishes including our new kitchen which my wife love, meaning I think I did a pretty good job!
    Thanks for watching!

      Unfortunately thats how most local lumberyards deliver. Nothing against them. Big box like home depot or lowes have the forklift but there is a delivery fee to it. Most locals dont charge for the delievery at least in my area and thats pretty much the normal. It sucks but as long as the materials arent damaged you can request some materials to be replaced if they are damaged by the drop.

    Cmon- after laying out all those I joists for floor they did not even use a uniform 16-24 o.c. spacer block for the center of the runs. New codes are making the j bolts larger diameter. Joists do & can float.
    NOTE According to the International Residential Code (IRC), joists with dimensions less than 2”×12” (thickness× width) are exempt from blocking (Bridging). However, joists that are larger than this need blocking at a distance of not more than 8 feet. Blocking at 4 to 6 feet is generally preferred by various contractors. Very odd they had a vapor barrier inside but no house wrap on the exterior. Did you see the water damage once they pulled down the vinyl siding? Is there a name for this style of “Addition” (by extending the roof)?
    I live roughly 50 miles east of Los Angeles and definitely need this done to our 980sf home. By adding an extra 1000sf more, it would help with our tight living conditions. Any guess on cost range for my area or would it cost less to go the conventional way by simply adding to the rear and go out?

      With lumber and labor being crazy in 2020 I'd have no clue. Most builder give free estimates. Wouldn't hurt to give a couple a call.

    • @codycasserly8304
      @codycasserly8304 3 года назад

      prob 50-100k. Depends on materials, labor, finish. That's obvious. I don't live in LA, so I'm not quite sure. Maybe a 20% increase? So like 60-120K?

    • @Luckingsworth
      @Luckingsworth 3 года назад +2

      1k square feet is easily going to run you $80k minimum and being outside of LA i wouldn't be surprised if it was $150k.
      Consider building up or down instead of an addition.
      The potential additional cost is negligible if you are already spending so much and you actually gain SQ ft on your property that way rather than lose yard space.
