The canon Tarzan is much different from most other versions of Tarzan (including the Disney version) in many ways. Even according to the ERB Universe canon books, his family is pretty messed up, with him and Jane unintentionally neglecting Korak, who in turn has PTSD due to suffering from a prototype of Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome.
Wait no why do I feel bad for him now? Cuz you're totally right. Tarzan is so lucky that Jane was like, you know, a good person because she easily could have lured him into an abusive relationship with no real out short of killing Jane, but I can't see Tarzan actually doing that given he even tried to save Clayton's life.
This raises so many great points. In the books, (the first one I think idk it’s been a while) Tarzan actually goes to England and eventually the states(?) to resume his claim as Viscount Greystoke and become educated whilst still trying to pursue Jane, as they didn’t end up together in the first book. He was in both places for quite some time I believe. Do you think him living among other people for a long period would make it, idk less weird? Or is it still kind of bad because he still missed that social development stage as a child?
In the live action starring Margot Robbie it shows Tarzan in England while married to Jane, similar to the book you’re talking about, where he’s both educated and a nature boy (ie still being able to imitate animal sounds). That’s a good question, if we suspend our belief then yes, after years of him being educated on EVERYTHING, then I guess it could work? Lol, I wish a psychologist/sociologist could chime in 😅
Thanks for the vid❤. I don’t think you looked at it with cynicism, but more realism. Of their genders were reversed, this would raise more eyebrows. There is heavy suspension of belief though. And how they learn to trust each other is why I love the film.
this. I sometimes notice an unintentional bias in my thinking. If that happens and things like these occur I ask myself if I'd see the situation differently when the roles are reversed
Yeah this relationship definitely doesn't have an equal playing field. I wish we got a series where Tarzan was put in the real world, got an education, and was able to learn how to be a true human, then he could go back into the forest and truly have the ability and autonomy to make the same decisions on the same level as Jane.
there is an animated netflix series called Tarzan and Jane where this happens. if i remember correctly season 1 takes place in england and season 2 take place in brazil
@@earth2ria Netflix Tarzan and Jane also has both Spider Man and Kamen Rider influences, but especially from Kamen Rider Amazon: Tarzan survived a plane crash as a toddler and was saved by a scientist and a shaman who modified him with animal powers as a result. Then he was raised by a mummy gorilla for years before meeting a part-Caribbean Jane Porter.

Haha, yeah it can be depressing to think about the “what if’s”, thank goodness Jane was a good person 😅

@@Itsbabygirlt i totally forgot about the live action omg!!
Definitely would’ve went south if the Disney movie wasn’t unrealistic.
I think so too 😂
This was a very interesting video. Great points!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 😊

Ahhhh thank you for this, ❤️ and you’re right about if the genders were reversed, I didn’t even think of that!
Thanks for watching!

The genders were already reversed, in the movie, pocahontas.

I feel like if he learnt everything about the human world he wouldn’t come back to live in the jungle 😂
@@Itsbabygirlt I agree lol, he seemed pretty interested in the human stuff they were showing him
