U need to understand, looks are a currency in this world. Why do you think you see 19 year old Moldovan girls hanging out in yachts when they have done nothing to earn it. Look up blackpill, genetic determinism, lookism, and pretty privilege to see where I am coming from.
@@Halo4beatsB02 humanity needs to change. These standards are getting more and more difficult to the point that beauty is now only accessible with wealth. We already have an overly judgmental society to begin with and here you are purposely feeding the machine.
I am so tired of rich people doing everything to look young and "beautiful" / standard and then telling us that inner beauty and maturuity of the soul is the only thing important. Like wtf???????
😂EXACTLY 👏 but that's them. They've always been hypocrites of the highest degree. It baffles me how some people almost worship some of these celebrities.
Celebrities are selling fantasy - sure, many of them seem to live rich and pleasurable lives; however, they are left vulnerable, fearful, and insecure when they chase beauty standards - you can see it in their behavior.
Well youre not celebritiy or actor or singer🙄if you CARE about physicality and looks and you follow trends that means youre object and i dont feel bad for you because you want use physicality for privilege and thats immoral
I don't think any of these ladies look like "their younger self". They look like AI versions (or filter version) of themselves. Lindsay looks like completely different person, there is nothing of her original face left. Madonna and Christina too. I am not saying that is a bad thing, you do you, if that's your goal. I can not say they do not look beautiful. Just saying they don't look like themselves, there is almost nothing left of original character in face. They look like most pretty influencers on internet.
I get what youre saying. I agree, they all look stunning for their age. However, its giving “forced” vibes. “Forced youth” which actually in a way, makes them look older? Not saying age is bad either. But i can’t really articulate it 😅
I love when Madeline drinks the potions and afterwards gets the warning. Wonder, what the warning for these celebrities was, they surely didn't care. Anyway, they look uncanny, just like in the movie.
I can’t imagine the pressure these women are under to be marketable as they age. Kate Winslet has been vocal about refusing to run to a surgeon and I have great respect for the heroes like her who do age gracefully.
@@MewluMoon Now that I think about it...there is an interview in which Meryl Streep said she was initially rejected, or at least resisted, for the role of Francesca in 'Bridges of Madison County'; Streep was then 45, exactly the right age for this character that she embodied to a proverbial 't'. Yet the studio execs hesitated, claiming Streep was "too old" for the part (that she was utterly perfect for!). So you have a point.
My heart is with the actors who have and are coming visibly into their age- Kate Winslet, Keira Knightly come to mind - I find it lends a depth to the performance because there is a real vulnerability to watching an actor past their youthful prime portraying the actual passage of time and all that comes with it. I don’t mind being sometimes challenged on how I react to seeing that time has passed and they don’t look the same or how I might have come to expect of people- I prefer it to what is happening with these other celebrities, men and women.
Yes, I actually prefer seeing them looking their age. Makes me feel better about getting older. I just watched 'black doves' and Keira is her gorgeous self, just a more mature version. And she has a full authentic range of facial movement.
It feels a bit like eugenics. I don't know how to explain it, but it's like we're trying to erase old people. Like people can get older, they just can't look it. I think cosmetic work in itself isn't bad, but having it be common or undetected is an issue
that’s absolutely not what eugenics means please look up the definition-this has nothing to do with racism and could not be realistically tied to naz* policies…I don’t see hitler telling Xtina to get an undetectable facelift please girl 😂 You can say what you said without minimizing something very serious
Young people too, and I remember feeling so insecure during my teenage years and early 20s. Now you're telling women who are damn near menopausal and paid for artificial youth, that they are looking younger than women who are truly young.
MsTriangle…only to those who will highly value this beauty=perfection notion. Others will come to their senses and not follow. They will learn real value. But you are correct some will commit suicide or be depressed or desperate. This is because they have not seen past the worldly fleshy facade.

Does anyone remember the scene in Devils Advocate where one of the wives mentions that in their world, they can get surgeries so subtle you’d never know they weren’t natural, and gives the Charlize Theron character the card of the surgeon who did her breast augmentation? The implication also was that top attorney’s wives don’t have gaudy, flashy, obvious surgeries. If you watch some of Dr Gary Linkov or Lorry Hill’s videos, you can see how the higher level the star, the more subtle the tiny little tweaks over the years they get - meaning that you genuinely don’t actually see that they’ve had anything done. All the people we think of as the greatest natural beauties in the celeb world seem to have actually had thousands of dollars of work done, from Angelina Jolie to Tom Cruise and beyond. It seems as if the higher up the food chain you are, the less noticeable the work is, as it can take place over a 20 year period of mini tweaks, but when you see the comparison of the star in their teens up to now, it becomes really clear they’ve had quite a transformation. The drastic makeovers seem to be for those who have slid down the ladder or were maybe not that high on the ladder to begin with - B list, C list, aged out, public addiction issues, etc. They’re placed in a different class from those who have truly undetectable work and always have. Old Hollywood too had doctors and procedures the public never even knew were possible until maybe the 90s. So I think the undetectable era has always been around for the ultra wealthy or high status. As for all the awful comments some of these stars (including literal children,) get for daring to appear on camera without fitting a stereotype of perfection, just think how many of those comments could be bots and paid trolls who are not just specifically attacking the star, but reminding everyone else to hate things about themselves too? The beauty, slimming and cosmetic industries are and always will be some of the most lucrative in the world, and it makes sense to keep us all in a state of distraction, self consciousness and in some case a blind desire to raise the money it takes to feel acceptable, whatever it takes.
Agreed, there seems to be a clear difference in those who get small amounts of work done over the years and those who get work done suddenly and all at once
this was a beautiful and thought provoking comment. the game that's afoot does indeed seem to be making sure the great unwashed is filled with self hate, desiring outward beauty, and never has time to get around to the inner work that makes for true transmutation of the soul.
As much as everyone says Britney is weird for spinning on IG, showing her hair extensions, buying cheap clothes and not keeping up on her vaneers, I am finding her IDGAF attitude about what people think of her a breath of fresh air.
She's literally doing whatever the fk she wants as a defiance to her "team" controlling everything for so long. To dance freely and not for making money for everyone else around her is the small freedom she is allowed now.
The fact that she stopped getting botox and fillers now that she's out of the conservatorship is making me wonder what degree of pressure the people controlling her were putting on her- did they just talk her into getting those cosmetic treatments done or was she actually forced into it and given no choice? She also appears to have gotten a nose job and lip lift while under the conservatorship and I just have to wonder how much of it was truly her choice. It's all...concerning
Julia Roberts is beautiful and you’d know her smile anywhere, because she looks unique. She hasn’t changed and molded her face into a caricature of herself. People yell from the rooftops about letting women age (and men, Chad Michael Murray in this video reminds us they go through it too), but then people turn around and judge if they look normal in a photo.
She has the sort of facial structure that tends to show fewer signs of aging, and so she's often praised for how youthful she looks without having had work done, but as soon as she posts a casual photo with side lighting and without professional hair & makeup, people lose it 😩
Wonderful video! I'm in my mid-40s and I recently had coworkers tell me that they thought I was in my 20s. I hate that I look in the mirror in the morning and remembering those comments is what makes me proud instead of thinking about my accomplishments. It's unsustainable and I know I will ultimately be disappointed by natural aging. I try not to be so critical of my looks, but it seeps in from time to time. I hate beauty culture and the way we allow it to consciously or subconsciously rot our brains.
Then stop paying attention to the beauty culture Every society has their own version of it by the way It's up to you to own the fact that you're aging, maybe have some appreciation because by now you know people who haven't made it this far I'm sure people who have passed before your age would love to still be here and what their face looks like would be completely irrelevant to them and thir loved ones
Yes, I completely relate! I'm trying to avoid all beauty content (this video doesn't count) but it's very challenging. Staying off my phone and the internet as much as possible seems like the only way to escape lol.
@@jenster29 Exactly, but it's easier said than done. I'm the least media literate person I know, but the insecurities still creep in sometimes. I grew up with a single mom who tried to drill in the value of a woman's beauty above everything (I was a disappointing tomboy lol) so it comes at us from everywhere.
Christina Aguilera gives me uncanny valley. The work she's got done looks fantastic but, to me, she doesn't look like herself at all. When she was a teen and in her early twenties, she always had a bit of roundness to her face, yknow, part of youthfulness. Now, her sharp and countoured facial features w/ the kind of makeup she wears makes her look like the drag/celebrity impersonater version of herself. Idk if that makes sense but it's soooooo weird to me!
Just FYI, cheek fat is something your face takes time to lose and it's usually in the second have of your twenties that your face slims a bit, also face shape fluctuates with weight. I'm not saying she didn't get work, she obviously did, I'm just saying by your standards everyone would lose charm as they get older...which is exactly the mindset that drives all this work in the first place, the irony on their side is of course that they end up making themselves look older with a lot of the procedures
she looks amazing. and truth be told she has always looked really young she was just over weight for a minute, Only work she has had was maybe some botox and lip injections the rest is probably weight loss injectables.
@@wattthefaqameye1146I know people lose cheek fat as they age. To be more clear, my point is she has always has chubbier cheeks as a part of her personal genetics, so for her face to look "like her younger self" without her natural chubbier cheeks looks off, not bad, just off. Our unique features are what makes us look like us. For example, if a person gets older and has amazing work done that makes them look like their younger selves but their nose is different or their freckles are gone or their brow line has been altered or the shape of their lips has changed or literally any other example you can think of, that person isn't _really_ going to look like their younger selves, extremely similar and still beautiful, but not the same. My standard is that aging is extremely charming (I mean...the alternative is dying. As far as I know aging backwards isn't a thing and Benjamin Button isn't real lol). The distressing part for me isn't that lack of chubby cheeks specifically, it's the pressure put upon women to be marketable and conventionally attractive puts them in the position to get work done that diminishes their physical unique identity. Yes, while Christina is obviously very beautiful, it bothers me that I feel like I don't really recognize her, it gives me an unsettling uncanny valley feeling. Someone else commented that some of these celebrities almost look like AI versions of themselves and that's probably a much more apt way of putting it.
Yeah, that "fierce" contoured look is really trendy right now. Maybe more facial fullness will become trendy and she'll add more fullness to her face lol.
I feel like Lindsay Lohan should be given grace for the whole "extreme surgeries" thing even for those against it since she was literally drugged out for most of her youth. Poor woman was spiraling with her addictions and emotional stressors(her parents were notoriously bad) for so many years. Add to that, she was a relatively shapely freckled redhead in Hollywood at a time when tanned blondes were in and heroin chic was still making waves so anyone with an ounce of fat was openly mocked by tabloids and the public. Her tumultuous and traumatic years affected her hair, skin and _teeth_ so her being able to go in and fix them is, to me, almost reconstructive. That being said, I'm all for people doing surgeries if they wanna so I'm already not very critical of these type of procedures.
I know, I was happy to see her come back looking good. I don't think she looks the same as her younger self but there is no way to ever get back to that place.. just rejuvenated and I think that's the point.
This is what I'm talking about. There should be less emphasis on giving people crap for wanting to change their appearance of they so choose to. Especially, since child stars are under a lot of pressure and discarded... Lindsay Lohan was another in a long line of girls and young women being chewed up by the Hollywood system.
Oooh yes!!! Hit it right to that nail!! And unfortunately "photorealistic" can always be edited first before it's served to the public. It's nothing new. But they're getting good with each technology
15:29 It's such a hypocritical thing to say. Show me a person who is randomly chilling on a couch and one day goes: "Invasive dental procedures! That's what I want to do today! And while I'm on it, might as well cut off my pinky. Just because i feel like doing it. No peer pressure, no society pressure, no mockery online. I just woke up and felt like doing it yo myself. For pleasure." Yeah, right.
Yeah.. I don't have a public facing job so I have a chill wardrobe and overall aesthetic while my sil runs a restaurant so she has an extensive wardrobe and has to look groomed all the time. We had almost the same dental issues but she had to pour money so she could get it done while I took a year. I can't imagine being someone whose job is to face millions & billions. Every flotsam & jetsam calling you mid and mocking you for not looking flawless all the time.
Oh my lord that drjb aesthetics video all I could think is - i have NEVER heard anyone refer to "midface volume loss and lower face laxity" when talking about a man's appearance. WE ARE LIVING IN A NIGHTMARE. Dystopian vibes reign supreme.
Millions of years of evolution resulted in women being valued for their beauty (proxy for health & genetic fitness), and men being judged for their wealth (ability to provide the woman with a high standard of living). It's not "dystopian," it's how we're wired.

I would like to see women my age like Julia Roberts embrace their age and natural beauty. You don’t have to go make up free. Eat well, hydrate, moisturize and maintain inner well being.
Idk your age but Pam Anderson has been going makeup free, & I do admire her confidence. She’s still beautiful to me. I don’t think she needs makeup, but it is still strange for me to see, makeup enhances features especially on camera. I think makeup free is beautiful in person but not so much on camera tbh, & I personally don’t feel comfortable going out without it.
@@bodybalancer I never left my house without eye makeup, not since age 14. I refer only to liquid eyeliner, no eye shadow, no mascara (my lashes are naturally black, long, upward-curving). I loved that cat eye look for decades. But at some point after 50, I simply said "enough", no more eye liner. Just too time-consuming, as one must be so precise with the liquid variety. And now I love the way my eyes look. Natural. My makeup now consists of: brow pencil (to fill in the gaps in my brows), lipstick (for a pop of color), & lip gloss (for some shine). That's it. 3 products in all. No foundation of any kind; I never, ever wore that gunk; I always respected my skin too much for that. Plus, I don't need it.
What I don't understand is why everybody's saying It's undetectable surgery and they look like they're aging backwards. It's very detectable and they look weird in person. You can tell. What everyone is seeing is Photoshop and filtered images of their new surgeries that makes them look better than they actually do in real life. Lindsay looks hella weird in real life. She doesn't look great at all and it's extremely noticeable. Y'all are being lied to.
I think it’s only detectable because you know that is Lindsey Lohan and know what she looked like before, but if she was just a regular gal on the street people would just assume that’s what she’s always looked like.

Growing old and watching yourself grow old is very important to your psyche. It helps prepare you for death. People are so shallow and vain they can’t understand that everything is a process
I agree. I think the focus on the external might mean people do not deal with aging and death in a natural way. I cannot say I like aging but it is a reminder to be grateful for each day. It is also a reminder to focus on what is important for the rest of my life.
Bullshit. I call bullshit. No malice or anger towards commenter. Everyone can write what they think and I am doing the same. I am old. I feckin hate it. Mostly because of the ageist bullshit I have to put up with constantly. Being treated like a Karen, or like someone with diminished mental capability If get snarky, speaking my mind (something I have done my entire life that used be considered cool by those around me), or called a boomer, as if boomer babies were all nazis. My parents were the real boomers yet somehow several generations get lumped into the same one. And no I am not preparing for death. I fear it more than ever, because I know I don't have the time to repair what needs repairing, to give time and strength to sanctuaries, to redo my life mistakes, to learn more, to become a lawyer for instance, or to become someone that knows how to build wood things from hands with tools I have built myself, or to study ballet, or to get my pilot's licensing, to start a veganic permaculture farm. My mind hasn't changed. My curiosity and hunger for learning hasn't changed. I am even more left than ever- I learn more, read more, but Some shit that happens to bodies as they age just sucks, even when one takes care. I am all about process, believe me. I have studied and participated in many types of art and craft such as different types of printmaking, book making, dressage, saxophone, child rearing, numerous others nicluding brain tanning before I became aware of the sentients' rights to live as they would, i was usurping...I got a masters as I was turning 40 and I was treated like some weird phenomenon, given the label non traditional student... WHAT?! on top of all of that I am still trying to pay student loans to cover the education that was supposed to get me into a better life. (another reason I do not think law school feasible. Where I live one can not take the bar exam without the degree, unlike in California US, where one does not have to have a degree but must pass one of the hardest bar exams on the planet.) Our time here is too short, and aging sucks because it takes more time as one ages to keep oneself just functioning well. So yes, that is why I call that preparing for death thing- bullshit
Christina Aguilera is 44, Lindsay Lohan is 38, Erin Moriarty is 30. These are all ages that, barring disfiguring accidents, pretty people still look pretty. Sure, I guess you buy what you can afford. But what is messed up psychology that these people feel they need this. This all seems more about mental health not physical beauty.
She and Julia are the meanest celebrities alive. Emma slept with her best friends bf and caused them to break up and was arrested for domestic abuse against her boyfriend. This is not attainable for most of us, unless you have millions and are willing to to commit years of your life to beauty procedures. Weekly procedures, monthly procedures and annual procedures…. It’s a huge commitment financially and time wise.
Yes, and many of the procedures require a lot of down time, not going out in public, and may for some also require some medical care at least in the beginning of the recovery process. Meaning LOTS of time off work. Not possible for most people.
Also is dangerous. A face lift implies a total anestesia which in itself could be deadly. I’m done with people praising these f procedures who damage humanity and especially women in their totality
The girl with the teeth really got me. I have crooked teeth, I've always liked them, I never had a desire to get braces, and had to fight my corner for that choice because my mother projected her own insecurities about her teeth onto me. I think if I had straight teeth I would look like anybody. The uniqueness from my smile would disappear. I don't want a generic smile, I want MY smile. I feel so bad for that girl, getting bullied into "fixing" her perfectly beautiful teeth. People need to learn to keep their opinions to themselves.
I agree. I wasn't self conscious about my teeth until my dad mentioned it in my 20s asking if my boyfriend had good insurance so he could pay to fix my teeth. I deflated like a balloon right there. Some people are just mean.
This section of the video made me sad, because I thought her teeth looked so cute and made her look unique and beautiful before she "fixed" them. I'm happy to see your comment and how firmly you defend your unique smile
I hate to admit I hate aging. I'm 33 and I'm a singer and as much as I think Hollyweird is a bunch of pretentious twats, I feel like my own relevance is threatened by the simple passage of time. I hate what the media did to us women. And I hate that I'm too weak to rise above it. HATE BEING ANYTHING BUT YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL. Rant over.
Women did this to women. We need to take accountability. The beauty and weight industry and toxic beauty standards are kept alive and created by women, to compete with other women. Men were fine with us when we had hairy legs, no make up, and lived in caves. We cannot put this one onto men. Women have been vain since the beginning of time. 🤷♀️💅❤️

Honesty. I love it. People will tell you oh, aging is great, it is a privilege. It is damn annoying and we don't have the money to fix it. Yea, we eat right, fruits and vegetables and exercise but it happens and it kinda sucks even if we try to embrace it
The purpose of art/films/music are to express ideas, concepts and stories. Like Demi was saying, people's criticisms are their own projections. Humans, by default it seems, are just never satisfied, even when they get what they want.
There are so many terribly bored and ego stroking individuals out there. When someone gets surgeries they judge them for “not aging naturally” and when someone doesn’t get surgeries they judge them for “aging terribly”.
What makes you attractive is the light that’s on the inside of you. The light is love, joy, peace, humility, kindness, goodness, grace, mercy, and godly wisdom. Be a light. *Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)* You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
All of these self righteous people in the comments who are chastising celebrities for getting surgery are probably the same people who mock and ridicule celebrities and others when you see them getting older. If you're commenting negatively about anyone's looks then you're literally part of the problem. Y'all literally bully anyone who don't look the way you want them to look. So some of y'all might want to get off of that high horse.
Exactly talking poorly about a persons appearance whether it has to do with them getting work or not getting work done is a sign of the same thing. Though I do think that people in the public eye should probably be a little bit more honest with young people about what they’re getting done so at least they know it’s artificial.
Very few Hollywood actresses have their original faces/features. Big lips, smaller noses, full cheeks, lifted eyes, etc. And very few will admit to having anything done. They think the public are stupid. Hello! We have eyes. We see the changes. Just own up to it.

Demi keeps promoting this movie about how women destroy themselves to be “pretty” but she has also had all this surgery. I just feel like the movie is and her promotion of this movie is about the dangers of buying into society’s beauty ideals but that is exactly what she has done. I love Demi and she ate in that movie but also her press about this movie is a bit hypocritical. Like I said, I like Demi a lot more than I liked the movie as a whole but the hypocrisy in all her conversations about it is bothersome.
i took it as some self awareness and possible regret coming out. she knows she has been affected by these pressures and caved to them, and it probably bothers her on some level. heck, it might have even been why she took the role.
Y'know what's really annoying is how no one is ever permitted to learn from experience without being labelled a hypocrite. Maybe all those surgeries left her feeling unfulfilled and she realised she'd fallen into a trap that she hopes others won't?
@@aggimaggi7246 I do love Demi Moore and I have always been a big fan. And yes we are all allowed to learn from our previous choices but also it feels like this is a narrative she is using to appeal to awards voters. She is still buying into Hollywood beauty standards based on how she is being dressed and styled, which is expected and normal and I don’t fault her. Alternatively, I see Pamela Anderson actively practicing what she preaches and going without make up as she gets dressed up for all these formal occasions but presenting her fresh bare face as worthy of being seen, as it is. I just feel like even though Demi Moore starred in the movie about how women are being harmed by their internalization of society’s expectations about women’s beauty and their aging but it is Pamela Anderson who is actually the one carrying the torch against all that in real life.
Having the privilege of growing old is a gift many dont get. Be grateful. Whenever someone has something negative to say about you, remember, literally no one is perfect, and outward appearances often distract from misery and vapid emptiness within. Literally everyone has something "wrong" with them.
My favorite actress, and the person with the attitude and outlook on life I aspire to have is Frances McDormand. She’s there for the work and her craft and nothing else, just like so many older male actors. She’s very focused and witty and no nonsense. But at the same time I still respect those who do want to get work done because it’s going to make them feel better and more comfortable in their own skin. Some people love getting dolled up and getting procedures done and the glamour and that’s part of their personality.
Good, thorough video. Hits on many important points and facets of this complex topic. Intelligently and empathetically explained. It's so easy to villainize the people who choose to have these procedures; I appreciate that this video goes above that.
Such an excellent well thought out and well intentioned commentary on beauty standard / celebrity culture. Keep working on knowing and loving yourself and others for WHO WE ARE - That really is all that matters in the end, when the chips are down and all most people want from each other - car and acceptance. That is all that is needed to join the real human race - - not all the posing, tucking, comparing and obsessions.
And here I am just wanting to be healthy. It amazes me all these beautiful people feel the need to alter themselves. When you need surgery to live versus surgery for beauty, it gets lost on me. Hoping everyone can feel more content. Some of the best things in life are not able to be bought.
22:16 But it doesn't. Every time you open a social media app, read a magazine or news paper or watch a show/movie, you'll be reminded of what you could potentially look like. Even if you know that these people have had work done, you'll still compare yourself to that. Most people see more faces online than in real life in a day. If that's the case, your brain will set this as a standard and will compare everything to it. I truly believe, it will eventually affect all of us. Even if you try to stay away from social media, others will judge you by the standards set by celebs and influencers. And I truly hate that for us. All of us.
Maybe it's me but as I grow older myself now now 35 I don't want to watch no teenage movies with teenagers and teenage lives. I want to watch the grown folk, nowadays they are coming out with so much teenage stuff that I don't even watch movies or anything like that because it's not relatable for me maybe when I was a teenager but now I'm well into my thirties. So yeah I don't mind we are going to get old. Will God willing at least
Okay but lets be real, Christina doesn't look Sabrina's age. She just looks like someone around her age that is aging well and is attractive. You can never turn back time.
Great insightful video, love how you approached the topic! Not judgemental just presenting facts. Your presentation and editing is a breath of fresh air in the sea of two second cuts which for people like me whose brains work a bit funny makes those videos unwatchable unfortunately. Thanks again!
During the pandemic, I rewatched the original Degrassi from the 80s. If you don't know, it was the exact opposite of Netflix Degrassi, i.e. low budget, actual child actors who did their own hair and makeup, semi-professional acting at best. I was amazed by the number of commenters losing their shit because one of the girls, who played the "hottest girl in grade 8", was missing a side tooth and they couldn't believe something like that would be on tv. I miss the reality I grew up with.
Women tend to look more masculine as they mature because of the decline of estrogen levels in their body as they go through menopause. It's perfectly normal.
There is actually entire threads of females on Reddit saying they have been mistaken for trans in public and yelled at etc. I’m not even really woke or anything but it made me realize how trans hate actually affects us all, and how if we police peoples levels of femininity then we are ALL under speculation.
theres a line between criticism and bullying. I was a bit shocked when Chad Michael Murry & Gabrielle Union said those things, because to me, they look pretty much the same. But I've found that people online will say 'so and so aged badly' about almost everybody.
I think it's amazing how everybody look around and see our favorite women in the world, mother, aunts, friends, aging and we still find them beautiful and when a famous female figure had a life, and a body, just like everybody else, people expect them to never age. The thing is Marilyn Monroe never got old, and every woman in the western world should look like her. Having the pressure consumed her life, she left earlier, but the beauty standards she stablished remained. She never aged, therefore no sex symbol is allowed to age as well.
Im sorry but Aguilera does not look like she did when she was twenty. She clearly looks like she had work done. And how do these ladies really look like without the special lighting and make up artists? 🤔
And it doesn't matter what Hollywood looks like age wise. They are all out of time due to the Diddy experience. The truth will make the public puke. Stop recognizing them!
I feel like I'm been gaslighted by the entire internet. What do you mean "they don't look their age"? THEY DO! You can see it in their skin anywhere but they're heavily covered in make-up faces. If you look at their necks, arms, hands, legs, they look 60, WHAT!?!? lol
Some of the comments are so funny LOL I thing I can tell you all - when get older you change your mind. A friend of mine was extremely against plastic surgery. She’s 62 but looks 10 years younger, she had an upper eyelid surgery last year. She’s looking for a plastic surgeon to have her face and neck done. So, we change our minds as the years pass. That’s why we should not judge who wants to look better. We just need to find a top notch surgeon - and pray a lot for a good outcome!
Great video! just subscribed, you don't repeat the same information over and over, like some creators, thumbnail matches content.keep doing what you're doing 😊
I honestly can't even tell who is who anymore without searching for their eyes and original brow/cheek bones under all that plastic surgery for at least 2 minutes only to remember how they used to look and feeling sorry for them that they were so low in self esteem they paid and suffered for unnatural looks.
Priyanka Chopra talking about her nose also needs context that most Bollywood actresses get rhinoplasties done, Indians are insecure are about their nose the most (want western type noses). Also timing is this video is apt looking at how everyone is analysing Ariana’s face and procedures etc
There's such a big obsession to look young that it no matter anymore loosing the original face expressions that used to identify these celebreties and made them beautiful. In most recent procedures people, specially women, don't look like themselfs anymore, it's weird. Now they look all the same, it's sad !!
Very thought provoking. An excellent summary i do think that Demi Moore’s comment at the end, that beauty standards perpetuate to meet male ideals, is no longer entirety true. Women are now very critical and or approving of celeb beauty. Women want to look like their favourite actors and models and want to critise any competition. If offered hollywood treatments, very few women would turn the offer down.
There’s a marked difference between beauty and having a youthful appearance. You absolutely do not need both together. Women who are aging can absolutely embrace their age and still look beautiful. Unfortunately, too many women conflate looking younger with being beautiful. Looking young can bring a measured level of beauty, but not always. What’s most important is bringing out the natural beauty in the face and skin at any age, which does not necessarily require looking like you’re 20 again.
what i thought was ironic about "the substance" is the fact that both actors had beauty procedures done before or as part of the movie making. so even when pretending to show us an "old, aging woman not matching beauty standards anymore" or a "young hot looking model" we are still shown plastic beauty instead of natural beauty because even in such a self reflective movie, it's not enough for our real life to portrait them as natural versions - they have to look more perfect, more extreme than in reality.
As someone who has worked in the medical industry as well as having bad dental surgery experiences has me so scared of ANYTHING elective. The whole “do as much as you want” view I think leaves out the very very real complications and issues that can arise, especially as it becomes more normalized and will, undeniably, some will turn to less and less reputable sources for their surgeries.
risk for infection, damage to surrounding tissues and structures, risk for bleeding, risk for rejection of graft, risk for retained surgical item, risk for complications related to anesthesia, risk for embolism...
@@MsNatiBug yes!!! I think people forget med professionals are… just people working under capitalism. usually overworked, and their priority is money. not your health!
I agree 100% on the Penelope part of the segment. How narrow minded if you can’t see beauty in all humans? More than that though the best part of that season was seeing Penelope’s gowns finally matching her beauty, personality and soul. And yes just because you are traditionally beautiful does not guarantee happiness. To be honest I’ve always been naturally skinny and have actually been treated not so great by women I’ve always found it hard to be accepted and when I was very pregnant in the summer just swollen and miserable is really when I experienced the most kindness of my entire life. The goal isn’t perfection the goal is loving the body God gave you and if you have a little fun dressing it up enjoy!
I have a long term illness that has made me disabled and am in agonizing pain. I used to be a long distance runner and a yogi and I was as perfect as a non hollywood person could be. I can tell you that this crap is meaningless. It is absolutely terrible losing your looks in your early 40's and especially your mobility, but growing older is a normal part of life. I understand to a point why people will get work done but to be constantly under the knife when you don't need to be is crazy. I have had so many surgeries and procedures I have trauma from it. I would never but a needle near me if I didn't need to. Please don't waste your money on this rubbish. If you have your health, everything is ok and your life is good.
I struggled with my nose for some years, and it was only after discovering that some actors had a similar or worse looking nose and still was considered attractive that I understood that my nose was not something to be ashamed of.
Weird that you emphasized "colonized" countries 6:23. A lot of those places valued fair skin long before they were colonized by Europe, you even explain why.
Am I the only one who thinks the surgery makes Lindsay look older? I was watching one of her recent movies with my mom and she pointed out that Lindsay looked much older than the male lead actor and I couldn’t disagree
Believe your eyes. Apparently Lindsay endured the stigmata of her own actions and therefore became saintly overnight. Everyone is afraid of telling her the truth now and only sing her praises. I just can't escape how artificial she looks now. We've just been seeing botched people all along but Lindsay's work is still over the top anytime you don't even recognize her anymore.
@@justinejustice_league1857yeah but her work recently really did fix a ton of bitches work. Like she was truly looking 50 for a while. She hasn’t made any movies with her newest face yet. Like that holiday movie that just came out…. That was her old horrible botched face that made her look 50. She looks better now. But totally artificial
regarding the kitty actress's veneers/tooth job, I find it kind of disingenuous to say "I hope she did it for herself" when it's clear that she got a lot of hate comments about her teeth. It feels like its ignoring the impact of these hate comments because she "did it for herself" anyway.
Thank you for your well researched and sound video. I feel sad for all the men and women actors. It’s hard to age, especially women, regardless of profession or what country you live in. My goals (I am age 51) is to slowly accept my aging and to find joy and meaning in other pursuits like serving others.
If people, namely Hollywood, would just quit it with the damn ageism, that would be rad. Aging is a privilege, and there's beauty at every age! Also, appreciation for unique traits is so lacking, which is sadder than I can say. I'm 42, and every part of me tells my story. I'm proud of how I look, but I'm prouder of my accomplishments. I have a few lines when I smile - this isn't a bad thing. Smiling is fantastic! I have to work a little harder to stay in shape, which may never be perfect. My curves are righteous. Perfection is impossible, and self-confidence is beautifully healthy.
I think we should not focus on beauty and aging, but on how people's opinions can have an drastic affect on our lives. I am experiencing bullying from my work atm. Two co workers start to talk about me in front of me and I had a good chat with another co worker in my pause, who is 76 and is still working and he said, that I should go my way and never stop. After a few days, were I felt insecure and asked myself what I have done wrong, so that these two are starting bullying me, I concentrated on his words and his kindness towards me and just go my way and didn't accept what they do to me, I called them out and confronted them. After confronting them, I found out how insecure they are themselves and hiw they probably need that bully, as they are too afraid to stand alone. So Julia Roberts was right, she was hurt, but not by the words the people used to describe her, but by the blindness of the people. The picture showed so much light and beauty, and people dismissed that, focusing on Julias appearance.
This is why the only social media I have is instagram and I use it solely to send Reels of funny cats to my bestie who is in a different country. This is utter madness. We're looking at people who want to be vampires. Why do vampires in movies get caught out? Because humans are not supposed to look 20 when they're 50! I feel like we learned nothing from the past few years, and the tragedies happening in the world now, about the immense privilege of being alive when so many others haven't been so lucky. One thing that really stood out to me watching this video is not only is the media pushing a very narrow kinds of beauty standards that are constantly shifting, there is a glaring hostility to facial and body features that are what might be labelled "ethnic"🤢 and it stinks of white supremacy. That director trying to put down Priyanka Chopra is WILD to me because she was literally chosen as one of the most beautiful and accomplished women in an international competition! Don't get me started on Julia Roberts. She looks so well! Like, wtf?! This idea that we can't look like ourselves and also be beautiful is all just a grift to sell products we don't need, and prop up industries that NEED US to hate ourselves. I don't have incredible self esteem and I am working on that. Although I take good care of my skin, I don't mind when I see signs of aging. Also, I love that I actually look like my family and have features that show I belong to them (not that biological family is the only family) and I look like people who I love and who love me. I can look at photos and see I have the same nose as my great great grandmother, or that I inherited a roses and cream complexion from my late grandmother who, at age 91, had the most incredibly beautiful smooth skin. I don't judge anyone for getting cosmetic procedures, it's none of my business, but when it's marketed online as aspirational or even becoming normal I find it really bizarre and honestly quite disturbing.
Remember a few things: 1) Anyone, with any budget can make themselves look and feel better if they want to with exercise, better diet, hygiene, makeup, flattering clothes, good posture, and kindness. 2) There are so many more interesting, valuable, and happiness-generating things in the world than the pursuit of beauty.

My heart is with the actors who have and are coming visibly into their age- Kate Winslet, Keira Knightly come to mind - I find it lends a depth to the performance because there is a real vulnerability to watching an actor past their youthful prime portraying the actual passage of time and all that comes with it. Seeing a woman age naturally is such a powerful middle finger to the subversive mind controllers.
I'm going to keep this in mind, thanks!

She has the sort of facial structure that tends to show fewer signs of aging, and so she's often praised for how youthful she looks without having had work done, but as soon as she posts a casual photo with side lighting and without professional hair & makeup, people lose it 😩
But why did they use a young image of her saying the words?
Wonderful video! I'm in my mid-40s and I recently had coworkers tell me that they thought I was in my 20s. I hate that I look in the mirror in the morning and remembering those comments is what makes me proud instead of thinking about my accomplishments. It's unsustainable and I know I will ultimately be disappointed by natural aging. I try not to be so critical of my looks, but it seeps in from time to time. I hate beauty culture and the way we allow it to consciously or subconsciously rot our brains.
Then stop paying attention to the beauty culture
Every society has their own version of it by the way
It's up to you to own the fact that you're aging, maybe have some appreciation because by now you know people who haven't made it this far

Her lil gap tooth was cute af too. It suited her, but i get it, insecurity
I'm here with you 🙌🙌
I know, I was happy to see her come back looking good. I don't think she looks the same as her younger self but there is no way to ever get back to that place.. just rejuvenated and I think that's the point.

Such a beautiful truth ❤
Nope, no sir. Who wants to look old
Where I live one can not take the bar exam without the degree, unlike in California US, where one does not have to have a degree but must pass one of the hardest bar exams on the planet.)
Our time here is too short, and aging sucks because it takes more time as one ages to keep oneself just functioning well. So yes, that is why I call that preparing for death thing- bullshit
I’ve never heard this idea of had the thought. Deep! ❤

Sounds like you’re a confident guy ❤
Can we remember for a second that Lohan is only 38 years old? You can look this young at that age with exercise and good nutrition...
A friend of mine is in her 41 but still look like 22. And she never have any surgery done. Just single, active, and healthy.
Hopefully, Lindsay opts for that way now.
I completely agree I'm almost 47 and I feel great maybe better than in my 20s
Agreed, but this wasn't possible for Lindsay. Years of hard partying/drug abuse aged her prematurely

I love unique teeth. The over perfect teeth are weird.
This section of the video made me sad, because I thought her teeth looked so cute and made her look unique and beautiful before she "fixed" them. I'm happy to see your comment and how firmly you defend your unique smile
Crooked teeth ARE awesome!
In Japan, crooked teeth are seen as cute, and since I'm British it's a given😊
I hate to admit I hate aging. Rant over.
But your gift for singing is only developing as time goes on :)
Put the Magazines and Internet down. Middle Aged MEN love Middle Aged Women, not Androids.
@@tula1433 Sophia Loren, even at the zenith of her fame in Italian/American cinema, refused to shave her armpits. There are photos & film scenes in which her armpit hair is clearly visible. She didn't care then. And still doesn't!
Honesty. I love it. People will tell you oh, aging is great, it is a privilege. It is damn annoying and we don't have the money to fix it. Yea, we eat right, fruits and vegetables and exercise but it happens and it kinda sucks even if we try to embrace it
This is the reason I watch British and Australian shows. The actors look like real people. That plus the shows are much better.
We all age, let's just learn to do it with finesse. Fitness, style and character is the way forward.
Thankful my career doesn't depend on my looks.
You’re whole life depends on it
All of these self righteous people in the comments who are chastising celebrities for getting surgery are probably the same people who mock and ridicule celebrities and others when you see them getting older.
They don't have to. Just like you wouldn't have to. Beauty isn't for everybody

❤hope you will feel better soon
I love the way older women look honestly. Not sure why everyone wants to chase a babyface well into middle age
There is actually entire threads of females on Reddit saying they have been mistaken for trans in public and yelled at etc. I’m not even really woke or anything but it made me realize how trans hate actually affects us all, and how if we police peoples levels of femininity then we are ALL under speculation.

Beauty is currency but it's not accepted everywhere.
Lindsay looks so good. So happy she managed to turn her life around

Remember a few things:
1) Anyone, with any budget can make themselves look and feel better if they want to with exercise, better diet, hygiene, makeup, flattering clothes, good posture, and kindness.
2) There are so many more interesting, valuable, and happiness-generating things in the world than the pursuit of beauty.
